Oliver stopped at a small bushes area and sat down. They weren't too far from the base, just being able to see a rough outline of it. "That's interesting. You got any family?" He asked, taking a sip of water.
York gave a tired laugh. “Of course I do.”
He took a seat beside Oliver, not fully sitting down, so it would be easier to move if any kind of frantic situation presented itself.
“I’ve got a brother, named Louis,” he said softly, eyes filled with melancholy. “He’s about sixteen. Just got his license, too.”
The I miss him was implied in his words, York feeling the statement didn’t need to be said aloud to really shine through. He did miss his brother— about the only person he was still fighting for.
He reached a hand up to his tags, the silencers on the metal sheets cold against his fingers. He had promised the tags to Louis, and wouldn’t be giving up on that anytime soon.
“What about you?” he asked, glancing back over to Oliver.
A soft smile creeped onto his face and Oliver sighed. "Yeah, twin siblings Mickey and Benny. They're both turning 14 and will be going into highschool next year. Mickey is at the age where she is discovering that eyeliner looks good if you know how to out it on and Benny wants to buy a bookstore." He let out a soft chuckle and pushed his hair back. "Of course, mum is constantly having to remind them that they're 13."
Once again Tokyo looked for the source of the sound of rustling. Her barrel and scope was now attached onto her rifle meaning she could make an effortless shot. Once again, it was not an enemy, but Sasha coming out of his tent. It was as if everyone collectively decided that they wanted to give Tokyo a heart attack. Tokyo sighed, sleep now becoming a heavy burden that she couldn't succumb to. She wasn't sure if he saw her or not, but she decided to give him a small wave just in case.
It was funny. Back at home, guns, weapons were something that was frowned upon. You shouldn't have one, no matter what, contradictory to boot camp, Your gun? That was your friend. This is what protects you, keeps you safe, gets you back home.
"This is my rifle, there are many it, but this one is mine." She mumbled to herself, her hands still tightly gripping the M24. That was what the drill sergeants would say every time she held it or even touched it. Your gun? That something, that is sacred, you take care of that shit.
"Tokyo?" Sasha called softly, creeping towards the tree he'd seen her vanish into. "You there? I got lonely. It's pretty creepy out here, wanna hang and keep an eye on each other?"
(Gah, that was really short, sorry xDD)
She couldn't help but give a little smirk at the way he sounded.
"Yes son, I'll be right down in a moment." She replied in a mocking tone, slinging her rifle over her shoulder as she was about to make her way down. There was still that lingering feeling of paranoia, ears listening. There was a bit of hesitation on whether or not she should make her way down or stay up there in order to keep an eye out, but she decided to dismiss the worries for the reason of lack of sleep.

York let out a small laugh, nodding along to Oliver’s story.
“I have high hopes for Benny,” he said cheerfully. “Wanting to own a bookstore at 13? That’s really cool. I tell you, he’s gonna get it. When I was young I had always wanted to start a cafe… but look where that got me, right?”
His voice was audibly lighter, yet still holding that tinge of whisper. He seemed to be in slightly better spirits, now that his mind was momentarily off of the situation at hand.
"I always wanted to open a restaurant, something fancy but open to all type of people. I guess destiny decided to crush our dreams a lot faster that we could build them." Oliver sighed and looked at York. "I'm not saying the army is a bad thing, I enjoyed my experiences here but sometime I wonder what life would be like if things had gone differently y'know?"
“Yeah, I get it. The military probably wasn’t any of our first choices.”
York went quiet, eyes darting around the clearing as he grew more relaxed. He probably shouldn’t have— he should have stayed upright and on his guard— but he was extremely tired. A few days of exhaustion were weighing on him, heavy as anvils.
(sorry it’s a lil short)

Sasha rolled his eyes and folded his arms, waiting for her to come down.
"Haha, very funny," he said, shaking his head. "Don't pretend you're not at least a little freaked outright now, you're sitting in a tree. That's not normal, pal." He cast an uncomfortable glance into the hollow darkness of the trees surrounding them and shifted slightly. "Apparantly everyone's up and about. If the CO catches us, we're in trouble."
"What do you mean its "not normal", I'm a sniper, its part of the job description." Tokyo responded, before carefully setting herself on the ground besides him. "I mean if we get in trouble, we can just say we were about to go on patrol or some shit." She could see that Sasha was getting paranoid as she was, perhaps it wasn't just her. "Do….do you feel like…like we're being watched?" She mumbled quietly, now suddenly aware that she was out in the open, feeling very vulnerable.
"Ahhhh I….really wish you hadn't said that," Sasha said, wincing. "Yes. Very much so. But it's worse now I'm not the only one."
He sighed and tipped his head back against the tree. "God, I'm so tired. This is such a nightmare. Why us? We're lost. We don't even know where the rest of the army is, we're literally sitting ducks. There's nothing good about any of this, and quite frankly, I don't want to die."
He stopped himself. He'd started to talk faster and faster as he'd went along, his voice raising slightly with every word. He looked down.
"Sorry," he said softly. "Got carried away there."
"Thats understandable, I really don't know why we won't go back and re-joined the others." Tokyo couldn't help, but agree with his statement. Sure, she was willing to fight, but not like this. No this? This was stupidity, having them in the open with no backup available whatsoever.
(okay, guys and gals and pals, let's flip back into turn taking! Action about to hit the fan ^^ Turn order: Brooklyn, me, Stark, Coffee <3 So Stark, you're up!)
"I think we don't know where they are," Sasha said miserably. "The CO's been trying to contact them, I think? Not really sure-"
He cut himself off, staring off into the darkness. He could have sworn he heard something, a…twig snapping? No, something else. He really wasn't sure. He suddenly felt fully alert, all exhaustion forgotten as his heart thundered so loudly he could hardly listen.
"Did…you hear anything?" he whispered, suddenly realizing how loudly they'd been talking. "Please tell me you didn't."
(Do i respond now since Sasha is talking to Tokyo?)
Oliver and York had been sitting in silence for some time, he wasn't complaining, it felt nice just to listen to the sounds of crickets, the wind, and twigs snapping. Wait, something wasn't right, why were there twigs snapping when there weren't any animals nearby? "York, did you hear that?" Oliver asked. He was glad that he decided to grab his gun the last second before leaving his tent, it was going to be useful right now. He raised it and out his eye to the scope, ears fixated on the sounds.
(Do i respond now since Sasha is talking to Tokyo?)
(To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure, and sorry for getting back to you so late! I know this isn't the most simple turn system, but I imagine it'll become easier and more natural as we go along. For now, let's stick to the turn order, since I don't want anyone left behind. Sorry it's so complex, in trying to create something more fluid and natural I have created a monster xD)
York was already up, gun cocked and ready. He separated from Ollie, going flat silent and stalking around. He shot Oliver a look that basically said, “flank with me.”
After gesturing to Oliver, York took a few sidesteps around the clearing, his eyes fixated on the direction of the camp. He couldn’t read any heat signatures through the infrared goggles, but his heart kept beating out of his chest, blood pulsating through his ears. Carefully, slowly, and silently, York crept back in the direction of the camp.
"Oh no, I heard that," Tokyo mumbled, quickly disassemling the sniper barrel on her rifle while still keeping an eye out. There was no denying the sound that they both just heard, but she knew that York and Olliver had just gone out on patrol awhile ago. "Korren, Ollie?" She called out hesitantly, her gun pointed at the source of the sound.
THUMP
THUMP
For a moment time had stood still, all she could hear was her heavy breathing and her heart pumping. Finger on the trigger ready to shoot, eyes on the target, it was live or die, and Tokyo was not ready to do the latter. No, she wasn't done with this shitty game yet.
No sound
No answer
Silence
…………….
BANG
As soon as the silence of the night was shattered by the sound, the screaming started. But it wasn't from deeper in the woods. It came from the camp as more gunshots rang out. In front of Tokyo and Sasha, a man clad in black camo armor collapsed from his position hiding in the bushes with a choked gurgle. Sasha jerked back with a panicked, choked cry, falling back against the tree as he scrabbled for his own weapon. Damn. His hands were shaking.
From the direction of the camp, a huge explosion lit up the night, fires leaping into the highest branches of the trees as the slightly delayed sound came with the shock wave. It was deafening, almost so loud one couldn't hear it. The shock wave flattened the grass and cracked the tree branches together in an intense wave of heat. As the sound faded and hearing was restored to those who'd lost it, the harsh, ruthless sound of machine gun fire began to permeate the air, the shouts and cries already starting to fade, even though it must have only been three seconds since the attack started.
Oliver wasnt sure when the shooting started, all he knew was that his gun was doing some of it. He opened fire in whichever direction he thought the shots were coming from.
York ceased to fire, instead flanking the camp as best he could and staying low.
He was usually level-headed, but at the moment, his mind was a mess of fear and pain. A shot rang out, just grazing his side, and he swiftly took cover behind a tree.
The rush of adrenaline was enough to offset the wound, and he quickly looked around.
Suddenly… heat sig. Someone he knew for a fact wasn’t on his side.
With a few shots, York downed the enemy soldier, watching its frame slink back behind what cover it had come from.
Gritting his teeth, York disappeared behind his own tree once again, sliding down and clutching his rifle tightly.
