The ocean is a deadly place.

It’s even more so when that place isn’t Earth.

Welcome to Couruta, the planet that makes you think “how does this thing even exist?” Constantly, the landscape is changing, with the vicious tides rising for months at a time and suddenly lowering for another few months, making settlement complicated.

Unless you’re creative, of course.

Build the settlements in the air! A nice way to be away from any nasty sea monsters and the deadly waves. Of course, their supports are on the ground, but at least you don’t need to worry about your kids getting snatched by a big fish or something like that.

All things have their costs, though, and the Courutan settlements are no different.

You need people to maintain the supports, which are usually underwater. You also need to.. “change the battery”, and by that, I mean you need to go down to a place constantly covered by water, power up the station (which already takes a while by itself), hope that nothing swims by and sees you, get back up in one piece and boom, your job’s done for at least a few months.

The job, however, has been rated to be fairly safe, and thus usually only 2 people are sent down to it. As of recently, the power station does need charging, and unfortunately, we’re also lacking staff, meaning we’ll need to go after a newbie or someone like that. But we do have some people who have been here for a while, and hey: nothing wrong with teaching the new guys the ropes, right?

Welcome to The Black Ocean! In which a rookie and someone that’s been doing the work for a while go down to the deep blue sea and power up the cities, hoping nothing goes wrong.
If there is to be any romance, I would prefer it to be straight; I do have a male character just so you know beforehand. However romance is not a requirement in my RPs.

Here are the rules.

  1. No auto-hitting, but don't dodge everything, either, in the event of a fight.
  2. Cussing's allowed.
  3. Blood is fine, it will be expected most likely as well.
  4. do not let this die within the first week…..
  5. I would prefer no one liners, as I feel those are difficult to respond to.
  6. Good grammar is always appreciated, but not required.
  7. This list is probably going to change.
  8. This RP will probably have violence at some point, so keep that in mind.

No template for this RP, we’ll be doing a paragraph or more describing our characters once we’re ready.

I know I’m in like 5 million RPs with you but please let me join this one

Josef Maag, a 39 year old man. He’s seen a bit of action in his life, but Couruta is a different type of action to him. And yet, he’s used to it all. Known by his peers as a strict, gruff sort of fellow, Josef prefers to work alone. At the very least in small groups, even Josef knows that Couruta is a dangerous place to traverse alone.

In terms of appearance, not many know what his full appearance looks like. He’s got scars, of course. Some from Earth, only a few from Couruta, most of which are hidden from few due to them being on places like his torso and arms. He’s tall at 6’2, and weighs around 196 lbs. his skin is fair, and he’s got blue eyes, which often look ‘hardened’ and are not soft at all. His build is somewhat muscled.

I really hope you weren’t planning on being 40 or 39 years old with the other person if someone else did join as like a 20 year old or something younger

@Mojack group

I would’ve changed him though I would’ve had to change his character to a younger version of himself

and canonically Josef wasn’t even here at 20 years old, neither were any humans lol

Nico Boli, a somewhat shorter man at 5’5 and weighing at 130 lbs. Nico is pale skinned with copper hair, and green/brown eyes. A bit of facial hair, but he shaves it a bit to keep it neat (due to the nature of his job.) Nico is 23 years old, a lot younger than his teammate quite clearly. Nico is also bisexual, and has had previous relationships back on earth. Guess you could say he’s in a really long distance one right now…

Nico looks somewhat friendly first glance. Which he is, but he’s more like “I want to go my own way” and “make my own rules.” He notices a lot of things most do not, and complains when he sees fit. He can be a bit sassy, as well as sarcastic.
He’s still loyal though. At least, for this RP in particular.

@Mojack group

Love their contrast and I’m sure you’re gonna use that relationship as a plot device somehow. But god I love Nico and I can’t believe you converted him to a Notebook.ai RP

Couruta was a new taste to someone who had been on Earth all their life. Although Josef had been working on Couruta for a while, it was still - even now, an odd place. The tides were strange to Josef, compared to Earth. How they cycled.

He was standing in the station above water, awaiting the arrival of his teammate. Honestly, Josef was a bit disgruntled that it was a rookie. But you’d eventually run out of veterans like him, so you did have to train someone at some point. Walk them through the tasks.
Still, Josef was aware that some were often put off by his distant attitude. Not everyone could deal with that, and while it was possible to request someone else..they were working with smaller options here.

They needed to go down to the power station. A lengthy job, one that Josef had done several times however. He leaned against the wall, crossing a leg in front of the other. He’d have to hope his teammate came in prepared, because Josef did not like people who were late.

Nico was well aware that perhaps he was cutting a bit close on time here, and that maybe; just maybe, that wasn’t the best choice. But perhaps this mystery teammate of his didn’t mind being him a little late.

Although it was first meeting, so it might come off as..rude.

But who cares? Sure as hell not Nico. He’s come prepared with all of his gear and whatnot. That outweighs him being late, wouldn’t it?

He enters the room, spotting his teammate. Jeez. This guy is tall. Or maybe Nico is just too short.

“Hello!” He wastes no time before greeting the guy. Might as well find out his deal.
