Zarya Taj is a teen known by many names. Eye of The Sea, Azaria's Thief, and the many aliases she's taken over the years. But most importantly, she's known as one of the High Sorcerers of the Azarian Court. She's spent her entire life chasing rank after rank, title after title, making her way up from the little orphaned thief she used to be to one of the most important assets of her Kingdom. Her Kingdom is important to her, the people of it at the top of her priorities, and she'd do anything to keep them safe. And it looks like that time may fast be approaching.

It's no secret that the kingdoms of Azaria and Vyrnia have a tumultuous relationship, with multiple incidents and almost-wars spanning their history with each other. In an attempt at diplomacy, and with the hopes of maybe smoothing things over for good, a ball is organized for the elite of both kingdoms. And that's when Zarya is given her orders, from the adviser to her King. Get rid of the Crown Prince however she can.

Murder wasn't on the Sorceress's agenda when she found out she'd be accompanying the Princess and her family, minus the King, to Vyrnia, but her oath to her kingdom, and her own personal agenda, might just require it.

  1. No OP characters, or I will yeet your ass outta here before you can say 'this bitch empty'. I can't stand invincible characters, man.

  2. Proper grammar, punctuation, and capitalization, please. I can get making a few mistakes, when you're tired, or English ain't your first language(It's mine, and even I have my issues), but if it's too common a thing, it irks the hell outta me. Call me a bitch, but hey.

  3. Slurs, homophobia, transphobia, rascism, sexism, anything that ends in -ism and that harms or promotes the harm of other people will not be tolerated. See my first threat.

  4. Detailed-ish responses, please. Think three or more sentences. To keep it going.

  5. If I turn you down, it's nothing against you, you just might not be what I'm looking for.

  6. I have the full right to add and edit this list. I also have the right to boot you if you're causing too many problems.

If it wasn't obvious, the open spot is as the Crown Prince. I know I have a tendency to be vague, lmao

Name: Zarya Taj
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Appearance: First off, and it sounds weird, but she's absolutely gorgeous. This is mainly due to her Siren genes, and actually something she's really self conscious about, though she refuses to show it. Dark brown hair, cut to about between her shoulder blades and usually pulled into a braid, or left loose. It's naturally curly, but she takes care to straighten it at least enough to just have small waves. Her skin is on the darker side of golden tan, and incredibly smooth, minus the various scars covering her body, though those are usually hidden. 5'8 and curvy, though she hides a startling amount of strength under those curves. Her eyes are hard to describe, but essentially mimic the ocean in coloring, switching to fit her moods. When she's calm and happy, they're a clear blue much like the Caribbean ocean, but when she's angry, they're a dark grey/blue like a storm at sea. Her arms are covered with swirling black markings that amplify her magic and help her control it, something specific to her ancestors.
Usual clothing: A blue kefta with silver embellishments, that reaches to just a few inches above the ground and splits along the sides to a little above mid thigh, allowing her an increased range of movement when needed. White trousers underneath, made of a stretchy but figure hugging fabric, and tucked into black, heeled, knee-high boots. Wears a golden chain around her neck, with a golden coin-like pendant on it, a gift from someone close to her during her childhood. Wears various rings and bracelets, that always match the color scheme.
Personality: Ambitious is one way to put it. She strives to get better, to be the best she possibly can be, and then some. Isn't afraid to manipulate people, though she does that without magic most of the time. Cares quite a bit about her appearance, mostly because that's what's expected of her. Confident, and walks like she wears an invisible crown, but is secretly incredibly self-conscious. Would do anything for those she's allied herself with.
Likes: Music, the water in any form, putting on shows using her magic for children in her city, and then in the capitol of Vyrnia. Her night routine, sour candies, pickpocketing, shiny things, and stargazing.
Dislikes: Threats to her Kingdom, flavorless food, arguing with people that repeat the same bullshit over and over, losing.
Fears: Fire. Absolutely terrified of it, thanks to a traumatic experience. Slightly claustrophobic. Not being able to help people, and feeling trapped.
Powers, if applicable: She's essentially from a long line of Sirens. She can manipulate liquids, though water is easiest, and can plant thoughts and ideas into people's head with her 'Siren Song', which can, in fact, be an actual song, but is usually just a certain magical inflection on her words. Too much use of her hydrokinetic abilities saps energy, obviously, and if she uses her Siren Song to much, it can become harder and harder to control, and have disastrous consequences if left unchecked.
Other: She never actually had an education, but taught herself to read and write, and then everything else she needed to learn.

Name: Mishal Orion
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Appearance: To most people, he’s so painfully average. Average height, average face. He’s always envied his family, who are all known for being the most ‘genetically blessed’ in the kingdom. How he ended up just…nothing much, he’ll never know. His hair is cut in the traditional way, short and cropped. Proper and neat. It doesn’t flatter him. He thinks it makes his face look boyish and round. He’s 5’9”, though his humble posture would make you think he’s shorter. His skin is the only thing interesting about him with a golden, rich color. At first glance, most people’s eyes are tricked into thinking there’s a glowing aura around him, but upon a second look they discover there was nothing there at all.
Usual clothing: He will nearly always be found wearing the colors of his family: black and gold. His father usually requires he wear an all black royal uniform with gold accents. When he is in his own company, he will dress in the ‘peasant clothes’ he keeps stored in his quarters. He finds this to be a welcome relief from his stuffy royal fashion.
Personality: Not very sure of himself. Confidence is not a word most people would use when talking about him. He lacks any real drive to do much of anything. He has a fairly short temper, a unique trait to him and not typical in his family. His mother hypothesized it’s a side affect of his ability. (A bit of a cliche if you ask her.)Thiugh he doesn’t realize it, he grew to be an entitled jerk at times. He doesn’t mean to be, but he doesn’t even realize he’s doing it.
Likes: He likes to wind down with a good book. In fact, he’d rather be reading at any given time than be doing literally anything else. He secretly wants to be a writer, but he’s never fully entertained the fantasy. He is such a night owl. He finds the peace of the night to be comforting and calming.
Dislikes: He hates mornings more than anything else. He‘s so very grumpy for the first few hours of the day, though he’s usually not very verbal during those times.
Fears: Though he finds comfort in the night, he is afraid of the dark. Most of all, he fears losing control whether it be politically, of his powers, or even his emotions. He tries to remain totally in control, but because Fate be a tricky bitch,that rarely goes well for him.
Powers, if applicable: He’s pyrokinetic, a trait passed down through the generations of his family, though it typically skips a generation. In his case, it had skipped the previous several generations, making him the first in the bloodline to be born with the ability in so long. Many thought the trait died out, so it was a huge surprise when Mishal grew into the ability.
Other: He doesn’t have very good control of his pyrokinesis, which terrifies everyone, including himself.

((Quick thing, this world is like a mix of modern and fantasy. So, there are things like carriages, and monarchies are common, but there are also plenty of more modern amenities as well.))

Vyrnia was so much different from Azaria, and Zarya wasn't quite sure whether she liked that fact or not. Her home was known for more deserts and cities, and the coastlines, than it was for trees and forests, but from her seat in the carriage, she had already gotten to see plenty of the forests Vyrnia was known for. It's so green. She thought to herself, head tilted as she watched the scenery pass by with curiosity.

Amira, one of the few people Zarya considered a friend, and the Crown Heir of Azaria, apparently had the same thoughts. "Look at all of the trees! And so many small songbirds!" She commented cheerily, the excitement and bubbliness that only seemed to show itself around Zarya shining through. She had specifically requested Zarya's presence on the trip, and it wasn't that hard for her to convince the King, who trusted the Sorceress's abilities and loyalty to his daughter.

It wasn't long before the two-carriage procession reached the capitol, and in a few more minutes, the gates of the wall surrounding the palace were being pulled open for the guests. Zarya slid out just after Amira, walking to the side and one step behind the Princess, somewhat like a shadow. Though unlike a shadow, she stood out plenty, in the blue kefta that was worn by Sorcerers in her kingdom. That, and her appearance. Her striking eyes landed on the members of Vyrnia's royal family gathered there to greet them as her King's adviser caught up to them, bowing low at the waist in greeting.

Mishal stood bored and uncomfortable on that warm day. He tried to stifle a yawn as the carriages approached. It seemed to take an absolute eternity for the carriages to come to a complete stop, and then about another millennia for the Princess and her accompanying party to exist the carriages.
This will never end.
Mishal’s father stepped forward, flashing his warmest smile. Most of the Orion lineage was known for being warm. Mishal had a tendency to come in a little hot.
“Welcome, Princess Amira, to Vyrnia. I do hope yo enjoy your visit.”
Finally, Mishal actually looked at the cloaked woman standing just behind the Princess. She was far and beyond more beautiful than the Princess, no, anyone he’d ever seen. Everything seemed to be made just for her; the way her clothes fit her body, the way the sun kissed her skin, the way the disjointed sounds in the air became a soft melody. She was interesting.

((I mean like, running water, electricity, photography, even forms of communication. It's like a blend, including literally blending magic with certain technology))

Eyes on Zarya as Amira and the Vyrnian King swapped greetings caught her attention, and she shifted her eyes to the Crown Prince. She was no stranger to being watched, what with her status and looks combined, and met his gaze with a slight raise of one eyebrow. It wasn't something she wanted to be used to, but she had long since learned to accept it and focus elsewhere. It was slightly odd that he'd be watching her, when the Princess was right there, though.

"These are my companions. My father's adviser, Commander Salomon Nazari." Nazari bowed once more, though this time not as deep, as Amira introduced him. The Princess then gestured to Zarya, who stepped up next to her, a move that was slightly questionable if one wasn't aware of her rank. "And Zarya Taj, who very much functions as my own adviser." Zarya didn't bow like Nazari had, just gave a nod in greeting as she stayed quiet.

@Overdoneyanoveltropeyesplease

Mishal thought Zarya’s demeanor was compelling. She was different, and he liked that. She knew she was gorgeous. She was just s little rebellious. The Princess was probably boring; they usually were. Far too proper for his taste. He hated proper, he just tolerated it. He broke his gaze to meet the Princess’s eye.

“It is a pleasure to meet you, Princess, and,” Mishal returned his gaze to Zarya has he finished, “your company. If you need anything, please do not hesitate to ask.”
He looked away only when his father gave a mild disappointed grunt to correct his son’s manners.

@croccin-champagne

"That is incredibly kind of you, thank you." Amira said with a smile, her hand shifting to tap Zarya's wrist a few times. The Sorceress did the same, though in a different sort of order, in response. A form of something like Morse Code, that they had learned together in order to communicate silently, and without any eavesdropping.

"Indeed." Zarya said, her accent similar to Amira's, but slightly different. Almost more musical, oddly enough, evident in just the one word. Her gaze flickered to the Vyrnian King, not missing the small grunt. Interesting. "It is much appreciated. Shall we take this inside?"

@Overdoneyanoveltropeyesplease

The King smiled once more, “Of course!” Then he turned to his court, signaling for them to prepare what needed to be prepared. One by one the Vyrnian Royal Family turned and lead their guests through the great halls.
Prior, Mishal noticed the small exchange between Princess and advisor, filing it away for later reference, just in case.

@croccin-champagne

With a few more taps from Zarya as the Azarian guests followed their hosts, Amira's smile brightened, and she flickered a glance over at her friend. Zarya shot her a quick smile, that was more a flicker of her lips than anything, before both faced forward once more.

There weren't as many arches here as there were in the palace back in Azaria, Zarya noted curiously. And the color schemes were different as well, just a bit darker, with heavier reliance on wood and indoor lighting.
