"Joce, I don't know my blood type. It's alright. If you'd like to get your blood drawn to find out, we have a blood drive starting next week. Also I'm not the one who organizes it, I just help draw blood mostly."
"Joce, I don't know my blood type. It's alright. If you'd like to get your blood drawn to find out, we have a blood drive starting next week. Also I'm not the one who organizes it, I just help draw blood mostly."
"How come you don't know you're blood type if you've been volunteering for a while?" she asks, but not in a way where she expects an answer. "Can I help out at the blood drive? Get my first hours in?"
"Hm no. We'd want to get you some experience…if you do you'll probably end up doing some paper work or being a door greeter." She shrugs. "I'll ask them about it." She kept walking. "Next room then?"
"Oh. Well, I guess I have to start somewhere," Joce sighs. Then she rebounds and motions Val to lead her to the next room.
"I think I'd make a good door greeter though, don't you think?"
"Definitely. With your cheery, kind smile and bubbliness, you are sure to help people lower their anxieties about getting their blood drawn." She nods once. Valentina, while rude and mean, had a definite soft spot for her best friend. She'd do anything for her, even kill for her.
"Awww. Thanks, Valentina! You're my bestest friend." While Jocelyn thought Valentina could be low-key scary sometimes, she was sweet and kind to Joce, and that's all that mattered to her.
"Where are we going now?" she asks.
"Your welcome Joss. So, next up we have the lab. Don't touch ANYTHING. It's where we process and test the blood, to see what types are what. I don't know how they do it, something about cell compounds and chemical make up. I never really listen to all of that."
She holds up her hands like in surrender. "These hands will not touch a thing."
She follows Val into another room, filled with all of Joce's dreams. Test tubes and microscopes and other sciency looking things were all around her, but since she had promised not to touch a thing she simply put her hands behind her back and bit her cheek to stop from squealing or doing something equally as embarrassing.
"It's okay to get close and look, just be really careful." She nods as she stood there, watching Joce who was practically shaking with exicitement.
Joce keeps her hands behind her back but immediately jumps at the chance to see the equipment a little closer. She peers and scrutinizes all of the microscopes, trying to see how they work, and then on to the various test tubes, trying to guess or determine what's in them.
"Who normally handles and uses this stuff?" she asks.
"Well the scientists and stuff. I rarely ever come back here. You have to have a degree and go through college and stuff to work back here." She says, while noticing that she was levitating a bit. She grounded herself quickly before Joce could notice.
"That sounds so cool!" Joce exclaims. "Would I ever… meet any of them if I volunteer long enough?"
"Probably. Though they rarely come out of their lab, except to get more blood samples to test. So. We'll see."
"Awesome! Where to next?" Joce was already up to her brain in information about the place and how to do what and where what is, but she wanted to know even more.
"Dunno. Where would you like to go?" She asked, tucking back her hair.
"Well, I don't know. How big is the facility?"
"Sorta big. We've got 2 floors." (I am literally just making this up as I go so forgive me)
(Me too, don't worry)
"A second floor!? What's up there?" Joce exclaims again.
"Mostly storage, I've never been up there. I'm told a lot of the times not too, so I don't."
"Oh. How come you can't go up there if it's just storage? When I think of storage I think of old boxes and dusty shelves."
"Dunno. I just don't go. Oh well, all the excitement is on the main floor anyways."
"Ooh! I want to see where they draw the blood at!" Joce says.
"Alright." She was going to have to be careful here. She walked along a few hallways, past some offices, and two some back rooms where they had machines, and IV's. "Here's we are. It's okay to touch most of the things in here."
"Oh! I've been to a place like this before. I've had to get my blood drawn a lot when I was little for some blood problem before. Low iron or something? Nah… it couldn't be…" Her train of thought drifts off as Joce tries to remember. Inevitably she can't recall and gives up. "Anyways, have you ever gotten your blood drawn?"
"Hm? Oh no I have a fear of needles." It was true she hated them. "And I hear it hurts and feels weird. Not up for it really." She shrugged.
