"I don't have a problem with Disney songs as long as it's not Frozen nor-" Eric got out of the car and saw Amelia fluttering her eyes. He didn't know what to say so he just walks past Amelia and enters the driver's seat. "N-Nextime, please don't flutter your eyelashes at me," he said, "it's making me uncomfortable."
Amelia got in too and blushed, "Sorry. I keep forgetting I just know you. It feels like I've known you forever." Amelia flicked through her phone and smirked. "How's this?", Amelia turned on "Helpless" from Hamilton and started singing to it.
"I have never seen Hamilton, but this song is pretty good," Eric said as he drove out of the parking lot they were in and started to head to Popeyes. "The streets here are not as crowded with cars as much as LA. The traffic is terrible but surprisingly their air quality is not bad," he said as he entered the streets.
Amelia paused the music and laughed. She looked over to him with a grin and sparkling eyes, "Welcome to California baby!" She rolled down the window and looked out.
"Welcome to the Hotel California," Eric said as he was laughing at Amelia's joke. As Eric stopped at the red light he looked back at the map to see how far they were, "we are only two blocks away from getting our chicken."
Amelia nodded and hummed softly to a random tune.
Eric parked in the Popeyes lot, "I'll be back in a few minutes. Do you want spicy or regular chicken?"
"I was always a spicy person….so spicy please.", Amelia said with running her hand through her hair.
Eric walked into the restaurant and ordered the 12 piece spicy chicken and a soda for Amelia. He returned to the car a few minutes later and said “I got the spicy chicken and a soda for you. I didn’t know which one you liked so I got you lemonade.” Eric started the car and looked over at Amelia, “where do you live?”
Amelia gasped, "Lemonde if my favorite!" She kissed Eric quickly on the cheek. She then told him the directions.
(i'm not making up like a hole directions but she does live in a cozy studio flat.)
Eric blushes from the kiss and drives Amelia to her flat. He parked her car just outside her flat and got off. "It looks beautiful," he said as he gets the chicken from the backseat, "what kind of movie do you want to watch? You can choose any movie except for Frozen."
(I can't blame you. I would have done the same)
Amelia smiles, "How about Finding Nemo?"
"Sounds good to me," Eric said smiling back.
Opens the door to her studio flat. "It's kinda messy…."
Eric walked in and saw the mess, "It's only a small mess. Nothing to worry about."
"Go get yourself comfortable on the couch and I'll get the movie ready.", Amelia said closing the door to the flat.
Eric sat down on the couch and set the food down on the little table. He waited for Amelia to set up the movie.
Amelia got the movie started and flopped down next to Eric. She raised her lemonade, "Toasts…to the chicken who made us some delicious chicken!" Amelia laughed. "Oh wait!", she ran into the kitchen and came back with vodka and poured some into her lemonade. "I'm feeling risky tonight…You want any?"
Eric looked over at Amelia, "I don't drink. And that vodka lemonade dosen't sound too good." He grabs a paper plate and places a drumstick along with a wong on his plate, "I always like the drumstick and the wing of the chicken." Eric looked back at Amelia to see what she was doing.
Amelia shrugged. She had been drinking ever since her best friend had committed suicide 6 months ago. She stared blankly at the wall. "Oh right.", she dug in just taking a piece of chicken and eating it. There was a hoodie on the couch and she put it on. It was her favorite hoodie. She drank and watched the movie.
"Why do you drink?" Eric asked wondering, "everyone does something for a reason? Are you stressed?" He pauses the movie and pulls Amelia closer to him, "Listen, if you don't want to talk about it that's fine. I think you would feel better for yourself if you told someone." He didn't know why he cared why Amelia is drinking.
Amelia puts the drink down and starts to cry, "M-My b-best f-friend commited suicide 6 months ago……I-If I was only paying attention more….Maybe I could've saved her but no. I was to selfish and was focused on finishing a painting that was supposed to be in a museum…" Touches her hoodie and says softly, "We used to live together here….this was actually her hoodie. It's the fact that the painting that I was so focused on is torn up because I got so upset when I heard the news she was dead. The painting…..was only a thing….s-she was like my sister."
Eric didn't know what to say to Amelia for a few seconds. He hugs her and holds her close, "I'll tell you something I never told anyone." Eric cleared his throat and says calmly, "I grew up with parents that never cared about me. They would always say how much of a failure I was, even if I was doing what they told me." He started to tear up a little, "T-T-Then one day, they just left me on the streets… I had no where to go… no one to turn to… all I had was the clothes on my back…. After I became 18… I legally changed my name… because I don't want to remeber… them. I changed my first name to Eric, but I left my lastname blank…"
Amelia nuzzled into his chest, "I'm so sorry….." Then, she got an idea. "Do you wanna have my last name?!"
"It's fine. You don't need to do that," Eric said as he wipes Amelia's tears away, "I'll stay here for a few days to help you feel better."
