Spencer's jaw clenched and he looked away from Anya.
"I… have my reasons," he replied vaguely.
Spencer's jaw clenched and he looked away from Anya.
"I… have my reasons," he replied vaguely.
“Mmmm,” Anya said, walking slightly faster as they got closer to the kitchen. “You know, I almost…. dropped it, the whole spy… thing. Facade, I guess…. I almost just… left. Never could.” She cleared her throat. “They say we’re brave. That…. that we’re heroes. I…. I don’t believe that. Never… never once, have I made… a real decision… one that helped me. Always…. ‘finish the mission’… ‘save the cargo’… never once ‘save yourself’…. you know?” She took a deep breath. “Sorry, that was long.”
Spencer glanced back over at Anya, a small smile flicking across his lips.
"I totally get that," he said, nodding slowly. "I mean, to be brutally honest, I'm only here for completely selfish reasons."
“Lucky,” Anya sighed, automatically pouring herself a full cup of coffee from the machine. “I think… I’ve only been selfish… twice, maybe. I watched-“ she flushed “-The Princess Bride… instead of tracing down… a cold lead… that they wanted… me to trace. The second time…. ugh, I can’t remember.” She offered a coffee cup to Spencer.
"You watched The Princess Bride… instead of doing your job?" Spencer mused, laughter tinting his voice. "Okay, I haven't done anything selfish like that in a while. I just meant that the reason I'm here at all is pretty selfish."
“But that’s a huge decision,” Anya said, drinking about half her coffee in one sip. “You just chose to… do something. By yourself. No… ‘that’s an order’ or… or anything.”
Spencer shrugged. "If that's what gets me what I need, then I'm willing to do it," he said, leaning against the counter.
Anya sighed, abruptly changing the subject. “Coffee is brilliant.”
Spencer raised an eyebrow but didn't comment on the change of subject. He nodded slowly, picking up the mug he had left on the counter earlier and taking a sip of the (somehow) still warm coffee.
"That it is," he agreed from behind his cup.
//lol
“I feel better already,” Anya said cheerfully, forcing a smile onto her face. “You know, I think I could get the meds myself. You can go rest.”
"No, I'm okay, actually," Spencer said, already moving toward the cabinet (I hate trying to spell that…) that held the medicine. "I slept quite well. I just wake up a bit earlier than most people."
“But we got here so late. You really should rest,” Anya chided. “At the very least, would you mind checking on Lily and McCallister? We should make sure they’re alright.” She kept the sprightliness in her tone.
//lol
(I always spell it "cabinate"…)
Spencer grabbed the bottle of pills and walked back over to Anya. "Really, I'm fine. I can function quite well on even less sleep than this," he explained, handing the ibuprofen to her.
Anya half-smiled. “If you say so. But we really should check on the president and Lily. And figure out a way to get them to the base.”
"Of course," Spencer agreed with a nod. He gestured to the bottle of pills. "Do you want water to take that?"
“Sure,” she nodded. “But I can get it!” she added quickly, Spencer already having begun to reach for a water glass.
//is that ok
(Yeah, it's fine.)
Spencer rolled his eyes. "All right, all right, Ms. I'm-okay-even-though-I'm-clearly-not," he teased, putting his hands up.
//kk
“Dam right,” Anya grinned, grabbing a water glass and filling it up at the sink. She downed it and the pills in one swig. “Jeez, those are… bitter.”
"That means they're working," Spencer said in a goofy voice, recalling a comedy video about medicine that he had seen once.
//I feel as though you are basing this conversation off of an irl experience lol
“Doesn’t mean they’re not bitter,” Anya grumbled, placing the cup in the sink.
(…Nope…
Just Tim Hawkins. ;D)
Spencer chuckled and shook his head. "Okay, well I'm going to go check on the first family as soon as I finish this cup of coffee."
//lol
Anya nodded. “I’m going to go change… I feel gross.”
"M'kay," Spencer mumbled around his mug.
“Kay. Umm… see you later.” Anya exited the room as fast as she could while still walking.
She leaned against the wall in her room, arms crossed. That was awkward.
