"Does pixie dust wash off in the rain?" Lucas swung his legs off the edge of the bed, watching rain droplets rolling down the window.
"Does pixie dust wash off in the rain?" Lucas swung his legs off the edge of the bed, watching rain droplets rolling down the window.
"Probably," John replied, pushing hair off his face, "Unless it's waterproof, but… If it's like salt…" He mumbled to himself thoughtfully.
"Maybe tinker bell is like a bee and can't get her wings wet." Lucas pet Pip gently. "Wonder if she's friends with other fairies, like the tooth fairy."
"Oh my gosh," Jonas squinted, "You're probably right, do you think she makes crafts from teeth?" He giggled, "Like we use wood for stuff?"
Lucas giggled as well. "Maybe… Maybe her house is just made of teeth and her furniture is sewn with dental floss."
"Do you think they have floss nests instead od beds?" John daydreamed with his brother. Their wild imaginations, that was their escape.
Lucas nodded. "Are there boy fairies or are they only girls?"
"I bet there are boys too," John puffed.
"Maybe tinkerbell has a boyfriend." Lucas stuck out his tongue a bit and lay back on the bed. The storm still hadn't stopped, and neither had their parents' fighting.
He spat, "Gross!" Jonah giggled. "Boy fairies are lame, they don't have any cool skills like the girl ones,"
"Maybe there's a boy tooth fairy. You never know." Lucas turned on his side and yawned again.
"Well, okay, I believe that," Jonas shrugged.
"Maybe we have the boy tooth fairy… I only got a used cigarette under my pillow. I've heard most kids get money."
"That's a lame tooth fairy," John sighed. "Do you think the tooth fairy accepts letters?" He squinted to Lucas.
Lucas shrugged. "Dunno. I think that's Santa."
"We can try," he hopped out of bed, smiling. "The girl tooth fairy has to be the boss, I think, we gotta write to her and ask for a different fairy," Jonah expressed, as if he'd made a breakthrough discovery. His smile left cavernous dimples against his freckled cheeks.
"Jo, I can't write." Lucas stared at the ceiling, holding Pip to his chest. "Just lay down for now… it's getting late."
"Then I'll write it," John sat down. "I promise,"
"Okay…" Lucas gently pulled Jonas down to the bed and cuddled against him, closing his eyes.
Jonas stretched his arms around his little brother. As always, they found safety in one another.
(Sure)
Lucas woke up early in the morning and blinked in the bright morning sun. He wrapped his arms around Jonas for now, waiting for the other to wake up.
His brother slept with his mouth wide open, a bad sleeping habit that gave Jonas frequent dry mouth.
"Jo?" Lucas asked quietly. No, he's still asleep… He held tighter to Jonas, hearing his parents fighting again. They never seemed to stop.
His eyes rolled under his lids, he closed his mouth, and opened his eyes. "Huh..?"
"T-They're fighting again…" He whispered, hiding his face.
