(Sorry about the wait! And thank you, things have again been busy)
Keiryn paused in her singing, almost startled by the girl's reaction. Or lack there of. She Curled her tail around herself as she settled in her spot and tilte dher head, her cropped her near brushing her shoulder as she assessed the girl from her angle. She wouldn't say she was phased by the girl herself, the compliments seemed surface level at best and it wasn't anything she hadn't heard before in her near 300 years of existance but there was something there that Kieryn couldn't quite grasp at that was different. A genuine desire or hope to see the best in any creature. A purity unparralleled that almost made Kieryn sick. She was too good.
The siren lifted her head from her shoulder, a feral grin spreading across her lips, her sharp teeth glinting in the miday sun. "Whats the point if you'll just forget?" She asked coyly. "I don't give my name to humans, or their lovers." She sneered, her smile turning sour as she regarded the girl and her human form. Annoyingly perfect save for the pigment that seemed stuck and the lighter flecks of scarring Keiryn knew all too well.
As much as Keiryn hated human fold, She couldn't find it within herself to turn away from the girl. Perhaps she was truely bored this far into her life. What could one human interaction cost? She knew the price all the too well but Keiryn was feeling brave today. "And you fair maiden? What is a daughter of the water doing on land? Found a human lover?" She asked, dreading to hear the response but it wasn't like she had anything better to do. Plus it distracted her from her hunger. She didn't prey on human girls, finding it ten times more difficult to lure them in and actually kill them than men. She rested her head on her folded arms and arched an eyebrow as the girl suddenly stood. "I typically don't stray far from human meat." She warned, eys glinting with mischeif, wonder just how truely innocent the girl was. It excited Keiryn to think that such a purity in the world would entertain such gruesome thoughts. Alas, not yet it seemed. The siren uncoiled her tail and swished it in the water, disturbing the sand underneath her. "I suppose it'll due for now."

Anaitis smiles at the creature. “I consider myself a daughter of Poseidon, yes…but only for my love for the sea.” She giggles softly at the siren in front of her. “And no…I am a free spirit among land and sea.” She watches as Keiryn shifts and moves through the water. “You seem to be plotting devious things.” Anaitis giggles once again. Her soft laugh could get a whole room laughing within minutes. The young maiden just seemed so happy. Her joy could be contagious.

“So…if a siren like you refuses to share her name…why bother with one who is so curious? Are you in need of entertainment?” The beautiful girl laughs, her deep brown and hazel eyes seeming to shimmer with innocence. The scarring on the maidens legs became fully in sight as Anaitis sat cross legged on the sand. “So…what have you come here for? Food? Entertainment? Simple curiosity? Maybe all of the above.” She grins playfully, gently tracing shapes into the soft sand beneath her.

(I'm so sorry for dissapearing once again, I swear I am back!)
Keiryn arched a delicate eyebrow, "only for your love of the sea?" She repeated, cocking her head slightly. Poseiden, along with the countless dieties claiming dominion over the ocean were an interesting bunch. Keiryn herself knew not where or whom she hailed from, but she knew better than to defy the gods and goddesses, more out of the idea of being more safe than sorry and not out of any actual belief. THough she supposed children of the sea had to come from somehwere. "I wonder what Poseiden would think of that." She mused, not mockingly, simply…curous. What was this girl to a god who had seemingly countless children? What was she if she was human? or human-esque, living and breathing among them instead of her own kind? Perhaps even less than the humans themselves. She blinked distractedly and paused in her fidgeting, her tail coming to a rest in the sand. She wouldn't necessarily call herself devious. She tried to keep out of the way of humans as best she could, only trespassing to shores and docks when she needed to feed and even then she found no reason to use her human form. Any human in the water already was fair game so what was the need to go onto land. "Simply unused to being so close to land for so long," She admitted truthfully, her tail flicking slightly as fish swam around her, almost coaxing her back to deeper waters.
She gave a slight shrug, her hunger getting harder to ignore. "I see no point in giving it to someone who'll forget in a year or two." She replied, a soft laugh escaping her and she watched the girl move, ready to make a return to the deeper part of the waters if anything seemed off. But the maiden simple repositioned herself on the sand. Keiryn frowned at the shimer of scarring on the girls leg but said nothing. "Perhaps all, perhaps none." She mused again, though this time with a significantly less amount of bite to her words. "Primarily food, i suppose. I don't come to the shores often other than that, but seeing as you're here why not stay a while?" SHe asked, resting her head on the crook of her arm as she used her other hand to trace whorls and designs into the sand, reminiscent of her acient language. "and you? why come here alone?" She asked.

@Eli-the-transboi group

(It’s ok! I don’t mind one bit ^^)

The maiden giggles at the siren, “Oh please. Poseidon cares none for someone like me. I simply belong to and and sea.” Her words almost sounded like a poem…a song that had yet to be sung. “As for your name…” She pouts, “How can I forget a name belonging to such creature? Your art will forever be on my wall once I have drawn out your memory.” She grins playfully, flicking some sand in the creature’s direction. “Record of your existence will as well live forever in a strangers mind.” She began tracing shapes of shells with pearls, keys, stars and more, yet keeping her attention on Keriyn.

“So…” Anaitis smiles kindly, her purity radiating off of her deep brown eyes. “I will ask again, your name?” She rests her head onto her sun kissed shoulder, her eyes gazing in wonder to the being in front of her.

@Festive_Fenrir

There was a small flicker of pride in Keiryn that made her realize she too belonged to no one, only to the ocean and the ocean to her. But at the same time, there was a sense of betrayal. How can someone belong to land and sea? The sea had given life and a home. All that land dwellers have done was pillage and destroy her for as long as Keiryn had been alive. While she had a human form, she despised being it for long, feeling as if she wore someone else's skin. Her brows furrowed in frustrated confusion before she blinked and refocused. The girl in front of her was living proof both could be done she supposed, but what was so intriguing about humans other than as a source of food, Keiryn couldn't even begin to fathom. Keiryn met the girl's gaze, "drawn out my memory?" She asked, a knowing smile spreading on her features. She didn't know much about mermaid kind, a distant relative of the siren but still their own distinct species, but other than that, nor much was known, nor did the little she did know interest Keiryn, at least until now. "My record lives on in the songs and legends sailors sing as a warning to each other. Beware of the fair maiden who lurks below the surface, a girl with angel eyes, voice so pure and melodic, beware for she'll tear your throat out and drag you below." She hummed softly as she drew an image of a shipwreck. Her gaze flicked up, her head shaking slowly as she let out a soft laugh. She pushed herself up onto the shore, her tail still touching water even as she leaned in tantalizingly close to the maiden. "Call me what you wish maiden mermaid. Give me a name of your choosing."

@Eli-the-transboi group

The girl laughs softly, smiling. “Well then…I suppose you are quite popular.” She laughs again, then gazes down at the sand drawings. After a moment, she looks back up at the siren. “Hmm…” She taps the soft sand, seeming to think long and hard about the perfect name to give this beautiful woman.

“Amphitrite.” She whispers, smiling. “Goddess of sea.” Anaitis smiles brightly, seeming proud of herself for the name she had picked. “Because you are as beautiful as the goddess herself. So she would be honored to have someone like you be called after her.” Anaitis wiggled slightly to express her happiness, her dark caramel eyes beaming as well as her smile.

“What do you think?”

@Festive_Fenrir

"with the wrong people, I suppose so." She mused,settling beside the girl. It was rare she got out of the water at all but this wasn't unpleasant. The sun was warm on her back and the breeze from the sea refreshing.
She glanced up at the sky, finding it as blue as the sea below. "Amphrite." She echoed softly. "I'm not sure poseiden would appreciate such a bold claim on behalf of his wife. I only hope she would be gracious enough to allow me some her grace and beauty." She smiled thoughtfully to herself. She glanced over at the girl, not being able to help a laugh rising from her chest at the girl's excitement."if it brings you joy, my dear, then I will gladly accept." She replied, leaning forwards to drive back into the water.
She circled back around. "How about this. I give you my name when you join me in the water. No tricks, no foul play. Until then, I will be known by you as Ammphrite."

@Eli-the-transboi group

Anaitis seemed to pause slightly before putting on a warm smile and nodding. “As you wish. But I must say…despite my humanity, I am a fair swimmer.” She grinned playfully at her new friend and playfully flicked some wet sand at the creature before standing. Poseidon may have had a plan for these two, because instead of Anaitis walking home, she treads her way into he water, picking her dress up slightly before letting it go once she was knee deep in the crystal clear sea.

The maiden then looked over at the siren at the shore and smiled, her eyes seeming to almost glow. “Come on. I know a good place by the rocks to sit.” She winks, then dives into the water, disappearing from sight.

@Festive_Fenrir

Keiryn swam out a bit to be in deeper waters before poking her head out from the surface. She had fully expected the maiden to already be turning back to the cottage, abandoning any attempt on the siren's challenge. Instead, much to Keiryn's surprise, the girl was stepping into the water, already knee-deep by the time Keiryn slowly waded back towards the transition from the shoreline to the drop-off. "Your kind fascinates me the more I indulge." She muttered with a grin, shaking her head before diving in after Anaitis. To say she wasn't even slightly suspicious would be a lie. A mermaid who was this fond of humanity was unfathomable to Keiryn though she supposed, given enough though, there were some aspects that mildly intrigued her. She huffed a small sigh, frustrated more with herself for ever thinking humanity decent in any capacity yet here she was following a human girl intot he water.
Naturally, Keiryn felt more comfortable in water, her body relaxing more as she swam beside Anaitis. Or maybe it was the girl herself that made Keiryn feel that way, she didn't know nor did she want to admit to anything yet.

@Eli-the-transboi group

Anaitis giggles as she pushes herself through the water and through a huge arch in the rocks. From there, she swims to a rock with a flat top and hoists herself up onto it. She smiled as she looked at the water, waiting for Keriyn. “Come on, slowpoke!” She calls out, laughing while she squeezes the water from her hair. “How can a human beat a Siren? Not possible! You must have let up on me.” The girl tosses her hair back, pulling her scared legs up to her chest and breaths in the salty air. “Mmm…” Her eyes flutter shut as she takes in the breeze. Anaitis loved the water. Cherished it like it was her life. And this spot smack dab in the sea was the perfect spot to honor the sea for what it truly was. Life and death.

“I think this is the perfect place to just exist…don’t you?” She murmurs to the siren, looking out over the sea. “Poseidon’s domain. A kingdom all of itself. All that will belong is the life of oneself…good and bad…”

@Festive_Fenrir

Keiryn shook herself from her thoughts and picked up the pace as they dove deeper down toward the arch of rocks. While not exactly where she would now reside, it was surprisingly closer than she had initially realized. Keiryn smiled to herself, shaking her head in amusement as they sharply turned upward towards a shelf of rocks jutting out from the water. She breached the water a bit dramatically, before circling back underneath to push herself onto the rocks. Keiryn shrugged as she stretched out on a rock just below Anaitis. "I was distracted." She replied easily, her tail snaking around her as she found the best position to take in the remaining heat from the day. "I may have let up just a bit." She teased, "I wouldn't want to hurt your pride, dear." She peeked up at Anaitis, her teasing smile softening into something…fonder. It was rare when she found someone who appreciated the sea like Anaitis did. Perhaps it was because they were both children of the sea but it was refreshing to hear such love for their home. She paused for a few moments before slowly nodding in agreement. "It is. I can't imagine existing elsewhere." She murmured, her intent not to offend but more to be genuine. She couldn't imagine being human. She could live among humans, yes but trying had never really sparked an interest in her. "Why did you leave the sea?" She asked, her tone remaining soft. "you have such a love for it, and a deeper understanding of it than most humans would, what made you choose a human life instead?"

@Eli-the-transboi group

Anaitis blinks at the question and looks at the siren below her. “Um…” She clears her throat. Lying wasn’t her strong suit. And she honestly hated lies. So…maybe she should tell the creature. Maybe… maybe she should finally let all of those secrets lose into the universe. But…she wondered how the universe would take it. What it would do with these sensitive topics. What would Mother Nature think? How would Father Time react? How would her world turn?

After a long while of silence, Anaitis took a deep breath and gently pulled her dress up slightly to expose her scared legs. “These…are…one of the reasons.” She murmurs, her eyes glittering with salty tears. “I…” She closes her eyes, refusing to look at the traumatic image in front of her. The constant reminder of her life before humanity. “I…was attacked by fishermen years ago. I got caught in their net…and…my tail was almost shredded. I could hardly swim…”

The poor maiden kept her eyes closed as she spoke in a soft voice, seeming to attempt to sooth not only her own heart, but also he waves who had slowly grown more and more angry as the story went on. “I would almost have to crawl on the ocean floor…stay in my home…it…was very unpleasant. Then…I got sick…I don’t know why…but…I had to leave my home because of how cloudy the water was. It was almost black.” She shudders, then murmurs a little, “Shhhhh…” To the maddened water below. At that moment. Anaitis opened her caramel eyes, looking at Keriyn. “I managed to figure out how to turn into a human. But…I was warned that if I chose to live on land…I’d be disconnected from my mermaid form. I would no longer be able to have my tail unless I begged for permission. Pleaded to be welcomed back into the ocean. And…for my own safety and health…I decided to accept the offer.” She shakes her head.

“Now…” She goes on, “I live here. Close to home…but not quite there.”

(So sorry for the wait! I've been stressing over classes. I saw the announcement posted as well, I hope you're doing well, if not, that you'll soon be doing better! All the best for you in the future!)

Keiryn stared at the sky as she patiently waited, in those few moments realizing such a question was most likely too personal, especially if they had just met. Keiryn just blamed it on her natural ability as a siren. They were meant to draw people in, get them to tell their greatest desires and secrets, pretend as if they cared, all before their victims were inevitably killed. The problem was, that Keiryn did care. At least in this instance, Keiryn genuinely wanted to know why Anaitis left the sea. What terrible thing could have possibly happened to her that she left the one home she knew? Posseiden immediately popped into her mind and for a brief, blinding moment, Keiryn hated the god with all her being. For not protecting his daughter, or worse, for being the very reason why she left. But the anger was dispelled quickly as she glanced up at the maiden on the shelf of rock above her.
She couldn't help but blush ever so slightly when Anaitist lifted her skirt to expose her legs. She had been close to the girl before back on the shore but this felt different. This was more personal. Keiryn slowly sat up as she took in the scars. Of course, she had seen them before when they had met, it was hard to miss them but she had immediately taught them the wounds of getting used to human life. On the rare and desperate times Keiryn had turned human, scuffs and scars from not being used to legs or land would be scattered on her skin briefly before she reverted to the siren, but these…these were familiar in a way Keiryn knew all too well.
Keiryn had been caught countless times, mostly due to her recklessness, and had earned her fair share of scaring over her body but in the end, she had been triumphant. She had never been attacked though. Hunted yes, caught in nets, yes, but usually the sailors or pirates would keep a smart few feet away from her before she lured them in with her voice, had her fill, and eventually freed herself. To shred a mermaid's tail, to actively attack her…it was unheard of to Keiryn until now. Then to live such a painful existence while healing, Keiryn would beg for death, not to leave the sea, not to join the pathetic humans that had caused so much pain in the first place, but to just wither away and die.
Keiryn writhed on the rock below Anaitis, smirking down as the sea seemed to have the same idea in mind before Anaitis calmed the waves down, and seemingly Keiryn herself. Once she settled back down on the rock, more mimicking what she had called humans call her, a snake? Perhaps that was for another reason than simple appearances, she shoved away the growing ache in her chest and reached up to gently touch the girl's hand. "You would have died if you chose to stay," she said softly. "I think the sea, or Poseidon, or whoever would understand your choices. You have begged and given enough with your life and departure from the sea. What more could be needed for your return after all that?" She asked, her tail flicking in annoyance. Anaitis had given so much more than needed. She had been captured and tortured, sick and left to fend for herself, then forced to choose to survive amongst those who had hurt her and then never to return home. What more could the girl possibly give to grant her entrance and her old life back?
"You are far too kind and lovely for the pain you have been through, my dear."
