“I’m so sorry, Rykah.” Will wasn’t totally sure how to handle this. He hadn’t been there. He wasn’t totally sure what Rykah was talking about. When his siblings had nightmares, he knew what they were about, and he could do something to make it better.
Rykah curled around him even tighter, shivering in fear.
(Actually Rykah did tell Will some of what happened back on the Island)
(Right…. we’ll just say that he wants to make sure that it’s the fight event before he brings up something even worse)
“Rykah, you’re safe, ok? Nothing and no one’s going to hurt you here.”
(Ok)
Rykah whimpered, "If I didn't have these stupid wings….. they never would have picked me….. and I wouldn't have ended up alone on that stupid island……"
“You’re not alone anymore, Rykah.” Will said quietly.
Rykah ended up in tears, hugging Will.
Will hugged Rykah back gently, smiling sadly.
Eventually Rykah's shivering stopped, as he lay, crying in Will's arms.
“It’s ok. You’re safe. You’re not alone.” Will whispered.
Rykah nodded, still trying to force the memories away.
Will glanced at his alarm clock, noticing that it was 4:00, almost to the dot. He sighed. “We can sleep in for real today if you want.” He joked without a joking tone.
"Mhhmm" said Rykah, both sleepy, and on edge.
“You want to go back to sleep?”
"I wish I could…" said Rykah tiredly, "But I don't want the nightmare… to come.. back…" he whimpered.
“Rykah…. remember how my thing is potions? Well… I have a potion…. it basically knocks you out. Prohibits you from having dreams. I can wake you up when I need to….” Will said haltingly.
"I'll get to sleep on my own.." said Rykah tiredly, starting to calm down some, "I've had nightmares before….."
“You sure?” Will asked concernedly.
"Yeah…" said Rykah sleepily,
“Go to sleep. I’ll wake you up if I need to.”
Rykah flopped almost immediately at his command. But wasn't able to sleep for what seemed to be an eternity.
(About a few minutes compared to how tired he is.)
Will carefully reached over Rykah and took his phone off the nightstand, turning the brightness down to basically nonexistent and reading a book. He could lose 2 or 3 hours of sleep. It’d be fine.
Rykah yawned, stretching as he finally woke up. Leaning over a bit he saw Will fast asleep next to him, and suddenly remembered with a shudder, the events of last night. Leaning over he curled up, half on top of Will.
