“How do you think I’m doing?” She paced on the edge of the balcony. “I’m not looking forward to marrying some old fool who thinks he owns me. Unfortunately, I also can’t find a way out of it.” She began to second guess herself. She assumed Ren would understand and support her but this was a matter of duty, and he was all about duty. “I don’t know. It doesn’t seem fair though. Being married off to highest bidder.” She gripped the railing. “Tell me I’m not crazy for wanting to run away and get as far as possible.” It suddenly occurred to her that Ren may not even know what she was talking about. “You know about the marriage arrangements, right?”
(No problem of course. Is it your wedding or someone else’s?)
He watched her every move, but as soon as she asked if he knew he looked away. "I do. Your father sent me a letter, that's why I'm here. I'm to be your guard during the arrangements." He felt awful, but what was he to do? He couldn't go against the Kings orders, and running away wasn't an option. If they did that they would send people after them and even if Ren was like a son to him, he would be killed. Ren stopped his thoughts, not wanting to think about what would happen to the princess if that happened. "Surely it won't be that bad, maybe you actually will fall in love. I'm sure your father would pick the best around." He didn't want to say that, he wanted to say, "Don't get married, I don't want that for you." Ren always wanted to put the princesses happiness first, but there were some things he just couldn't do.
(Yeah it's my wedding :D)
“That’s what everyone’s been saying.” She sighed. Was she being over-dramatic? All this questioning herself was making her head spin. She knew she would get married one day…she just hoped it wouldn’t be so soon. All the books she read ended with the girl either dead or married but it seemed that she got to actually fall in love first. “Well if you’re my guard at least we’ll get to spend the days together,” she tried to feign optimism. “No more sneaking around to hang out together. And I’m sure they’ll be many fancy dinners and parties to attend-“ she stopped when she saw Ren’s face. It looked pained, like he’d been hurt. “Did I say something wrong?”
(Congratulations! Kinda ironic considering how the story is heading.)
"Hm?" Ren was only half listening, he felt bad. Sua was his best friend and all he wanted was for her to be happy, but he knew this wasn't going to make her happy. "Oh, no, you didn't say anything." He smiled and stood up. Walking over to the railing, he stopped and rested his arms on it and slightly leaned over. It always so so nice outside here. In Juniper it seem like it was always hot. "How about a walk?" He turned to look at Sua. If anyone hurt her, he would kill them.
“Sure. Through the gardens?” Sua didn’t know why she asked the question. There really wasn’t anywhere else to go on palace grounds. She loved Ren but she envied how often he got to just leave the palace. He didn’t seem to think much of it. She wished she could just throw on a tunic and ride off but it was never an option. Still, she worried while he was off fighting. If he ever got hurt she might just ride off simply to run the culprit through with a javelin.
(No, a lot of things happened already this year and I forgot some of my RPs I'm so sorry.)
