"Why did you come, Tyler? Why now?" She asked quietly, her shoulders slumping forward ever so slightly.
"Why did you come, Tyler? Why now?" She asked quietly, her shoulders slumping forward ever so slightly.
"Because I wanted to- you know what, nevermind." Tyler's anger had vanished when he caught her expression. "It's nothing. I'll let you get back to your life."
"I highly doubt it's nothing. You've interrupted my morning enough, now I'm curious." She tilted her head, a mixture of curious and stubborn.
"Good," he said, moving away, hiding his exhausted expression. "You be curious. Better than angry." He walked to the elevator. He glanced back at her one last time. "Goodbye, Kenzie."
"Tyler!" She called, angry again. "I'm always angry, Tyler!" She growled, turning and stalking her way back to the elevator. Fine, if that was how he wanted it, she wasn't going to run after him again. She'd wasted enough time hoping for him to come back, now it would be his turn to wait.
Tyler was sad that she didn’t follow him, but not surprised. Apparently she didn’t like him. Apparently he meant nothing to her now. And, well, sad as it was, he had expected it.
Kenzie made her way to the coffee shop, each step shaky as she held back her emotions and tears. Why was she crying? She hated herself for still caring about him, even after everything he'd done.
Tyler walked into the cafe. He spotted Amelia and gave a weak smile as she spotted him.
Kenzie sat at a corner table, folding her legs underneath her and hiding in the warmth of her sweater. She ordered her usual, a coffee and blueberry muffin.
“Hey, Ty-ty!” Amelia squeaked, throwing herself at him.
Tyler winced. “Please don’t call me that,” he growled slightly, pushing away from her.
Kenzie finished her coffee and muffin in a gentle silence, listening to the murmur of the people around her in a daze.
Amelia gave him a lovestruck smile, and Tyler cringed.
Kenzie made her way out of the shop and down to the library she worked at. She was late, but her boss let her off the hook this time.
