Finn looked at willow with a 'I told you so' stare but then back at Death. "You should drink some more water. Do you want something to eat?" He asked.
"stop mother henning him Finn," Willow said laughing lightly and standing up. "Anyway I have to get going." Finn stood up and next to her.
"You're going to leave me here before fixing the problem that you helped make?" He whispered probably not silent enough for Death not to hear.
"No, I… don't eat. Sure, I can drink things, but, if you're familiar with the Sims games, the rather false looking me leaves puddles. While… What?" Clearly, Death just heard heard the whisper between Finn to Willow. "I hope there wasn't betting in it," he said, "there are laws against it!" Death took out a loop of string and began to do what he did if he wanted to let That One Guy know that he was getting on Death's nerves but not say it out loud: He started to do string play. (No worries, Death doesn't leave puddles everywhere. He sweats it off actually lol. #AwkwardConverstaion)
Finn turned to Death. Absolutely having no clue what he was talking about. “No there was no betting. Just Willow peer pressuring me into experimenting with a risky spell in the false pretense of “research” again,” Finn said sitting back on the couch. He tried to not think about the string. It reminded him too much of the 3 fates in Myths.
“Hey you’re the one that said it and I told you I had to leave at 9. I got a date,” she said already grabbing her jacket. Now ignoring Death.
Death hating arguments, so he continued to play with string. He was, of course, curious about what date Willow was talking about. Death had always wanted a date; someone to kiss, to rant about your day, to tickle fight with. He may not understand love entirely, but he craved it nonetheless. He made Jacob’s ladder, showing it to himself, then “destroying” the pattern. It reminded him of the rumors about life and what Life told him about life: Ames’s at the beginning, leading to a beautiful pattern that all made sense, but the carefully destroyed. It would be repeated over and over again until the string broke.
Willow left the apartment before Finn could even protest and more. He sighed and turned to Death. "What are you doing?" He asked tilting his head slightly. He sat down on the couch next to him. staring at the string.
“Thinking,” Death said. It was a half truth. He didn’t want Finn to know that he was slightly mad at both of them for the argument they had. He knew it was a part of life, but it still made him feel uncomfortable. Death put the string away, and looked at Finn straight into his eyes.
His eyes.
No! Love wasn’t lust! Death was shaking now; the debate was strong in his mind. He wanted love, not lust, a fine line.
A very, very fine line.
(Sorry I couldn’t respond sooner. My friend is arguing with Anna. Complicated story.)
Finn looked him in the eyes as well. Willow talking about her date reminded him that he hadn't gone on a date in over a year. He also had been too caught up in the fact that this was Death to actually look at the other man until now. He wasn't really sure what to do now so he waited there staring into his eyes for a good few seconds.
Blushing, Death broke the stare. “I’m sorry,” he whispered. “I… don’t really know anything about love except… it’s not about… never mind.” He blushed harder. This is ridiculous! I’ve seen those handsome and pretty, and they never even looked twice when I was visible to them? What does he see in my light blue eyes? This… is beyond anything I felt.
Finn blinked at the mention of love. "It's ok say whatever you were thinking," He said smiling softly trying to not discourage him. Finn's side leaned against the back of the couch so he was facing Death.
"All I know about true love is that it isn't just about lust," Death whispered, "and I only know that from Life. I was confused one time about a married couple not working out; they were always arguing, and the wife was happy about her husband's death. I asked Life why and she told me." Death blushed. "Um, you have pretty eyes." He covered his face with his hands in embarrassment.
Finn smiled. "Hmm you do too and it's ok that you don't know much about love. Not a lot of people do," He reassures smiling softly now.
Death placed his hand on Finn's shoulder. "I… don't know what… to do?" He moved his hand abruptly back to himself. "Does that make sense? Is this… feeling one-sided? Is that want I'm supposed to ask? I… don't know. Life told me little about… this. I… don't know… anymore." Death blushed harder. "Why- why am I an idiot in this topic? I-I can't think, can't think, what… do I just, just…" Death felt like the world twisted. What am I supposed to do?
Finn softly placed his hand on Death's knee. trying not to think about how weird all of this was. "Hey it's ok just take a deep breath," Finn said trying to keep his voice smooth.
Death sighed. "Sorry I-" He got up abruptly and ran out the door. Life was standing outside (Of course she was. Life was his sister, after all.) He stopped running.
"Why are you running?" asked Life.
"I… just needed a breath of fresh air, Life, that's all."
"Is that why you disappeared so abruptly?"
"Yeah! I didn't even finish talking to you," said a voice behind Life.
"Shut up," hissed Life.
"Right, like you weren't gonna scold him yourself," That One Guy walked out from behind Life. "I know you hate me, but it would've been polite if you stayed one more minute!" He crossed his arms, like a little brat not getting what he wanted.
"I said SHUT UP!" screamed Life. She glared at That One Guy, but he continued to talk.
"You shoulda told us that you had a blind date Death. I would've slap that guy up the wazoo." That One Guy smiled a bit evilly. "Anyone who spent time with you is a stupid mother-"
"Language!" Life said.
"English!" That One Guy replied.
(This is why, Death, you should never go outside.)
Finn watched him leave with a confused look on his face. After a minute he got up and followed him. Stepping outside and eyes widened when he say Life and That One Guy. “Oh wow I thought we only summoned you,” He said looking at Death.
Death jumped and turned around quickly to find just that guy he was talking to earlier. “Um, ah, yeah, you-you did. They just-just came looking f-for me, that’s all,” he said, blushing. That One Guy went up to the guy and slapped him.
“How dare you!” he screamed. “How dare you take Death on a blind date!” That One Guy apparently didn’t hear Finn’s comment just two seconds earlier. Life grabbed That One Guy by the hood of his cloak and dragged him away from Finn.
“My apologies,” she said, “he just… is an idiot half the time. He is the only one who can make good cake, so… yeah.” She whispered something into That One Guy’s ear, and he went away, probably to bake some cake.
“I’m sorry, human,” she said, rushing over to Finn, placing her hand on his cheek. Despite being Life, she was the same height as Death.
“Don’t… heal him too much,” warned Death. “We both know what… happened the last… time you did that to a human male.”
“I know, I know. I’m not healing him just yet. Human, are you majorly hurt?” Life kept her hand on the cheek that That One Guy slapped.
Finn flinched when Life touched his red cheek. It stung but wasn't that bad. "It's ok it doesn't hurt that bad," He admits. Backing up from them slightly. Away from Life's hands. He didn't want to know what would happen if she healed him. He looked at Death. "Ok, then I guess this is a good thing…If they are your friends they can take you to make sure you're ok. That potion might have some side effects…"
Death shrugged. “If the potion had major side effects, I would’ve been hit before now. Really hit.”
Life looked at Finn with curiosity. “What potion did you give Death?” She rushed over to Death, ran her hand across his cheek.
“I’m fine, sister,” Death said, pushing her hand away. “It was just a potion to help with the side effects of the summoning.”
“He summoned you?” Life turned to glare at Finn. “You summoned him?”
“I mean, he said that a few seconds ago.”
“I thought he meant drag a dying man into a house, not summon summon you.”
"Yeah, but it was sort of an accident. I didn't think it would actually work," He defended backing up from Life.
Life sighed, then said "You're on your own. I can't bring you back if you've been summoned." She disappeared.
Death rubbed his head again. "If you couldn't tell," he said, "Life is… overprotective of me sometimes."
"ait what does she mean she can't take you back?" Finn asked. He stood in the doorway. It was cold out but he wasn't really sure if Death got cold.
"It means I have to get back on my own," he said. The wind tugged at his cloak. Death walked up to the door. "Mind if I go inside? I can't think in windy weather."
Finn nodded stepping back and letting Death back in. "What do you mean? Can't you just like snap back?" he asked.
(Um, hey. I can't continue this roleplay because I have real life issues going on right now. I'm sorry.)
(That’s ok! Let me know if you ever want to continue. Hope everything gets better!)
