Hi Jolene! Anything specific you would like to roleplay about?
Hi Jolene! Anything specific you would like to roleplay about?
Hi! Not really. I do have a rather vague idea of how to start it. Like, my characters are trying to get somewhere and they end up lost. It depends a lot on what kind of characters you might be using. I'm mostly looking to flesh out my MCs and see how they might deal with that kind of problem. I'll be thinking more about it throughout the day.
You said you wanted to use your dragon/human character?
Yeah, I have a protagonist duo: Helynah the human and Zafnir the dragon.
I'm unable to see them. Have you put them on public first?
Oop, I'm sorry (honestly thought they were public by default). I just made them public, so you can try the links again. : )
Okay. Are you controlling both characters?
Yep! If that's fine by you.
That's fine. Here's my character.
Name: Yang Price
Gender: Female
Age: 38 (Early twenties in human years)
Sexuality: Bisexual
Appearance: Pure white hair usually kept in pigtails, double braids, or space buns. Eyes vary, are usually green. Black wings with silver sparkly scales on the edges. Black twisting horns. Pale skin. Bony face with high cheekbones and sharp nose. Very muscular even for a dragon.
Personality: Very open and friendly, Extroverted, doesn't like to be alone, cheerful by nature, argumentative and defensive at times, competitive
Flaws: Argumentative, naive, sometimes annoying
Hobbies: Mostly fighting type things like martial arts and sword-fighting, singing
Okay, we have a dragon, a human, and a human-ish dragon. Sounds cool! Sorry for the late reply; last two days have been busy, but school's out now for me except for an English exam this afternoon. : D Ready to roleplay whenever you are; do want to go first, or should I?
It's okay. It doesn't matter to me who starts.
((I'll go ahead, I have an idea to kick it off.))
The desert seems to go on forever.
Not that Helynah minds. She strolls across the cracked, dry earth like she owns the world. The scorching sun, kept at bay by the shadow of her hood, doesn't phase her. Neither does the fact that their road had decayed into nothing a long ways back nor the fact that they'd not spotted a landmark in ages. She refuses to think about being lost, fueling herself with a quiet determination to find her friends.
Zafnir's mind is less fortified. He grows more and more worried the farther they walk from that broken road. Tired too; his long wings droop at his sides, the tips drawing lines in the dust as he trudges behind the Lightning Queen. His head is beginning to feel heavy. He'd never before thought his large horns could be too much to carry.
He stops. Helynah noticed that she could only hear her own footsteps and stopped too. She turns to face Zafnir, who already bows his head to pull his satchel off of his shoulders.
"What's wrong?" She asks.
Zafnir pulls his pack over his horns and tosses it on the ground. "Now might be a good time to rest."
"It's only noon," Helynah protests, looking up the sky to be sure that yes, the sun hovers directly above their heads.
"Good time for lunch," says Zafnir.
Helynah waits, not sure if he plans to add anything else, then shrugs and sits cross-legged at his side. While he opens his pack and gets out their supplies, he does add: "You understand that we have had no idea where we're walking since we abandoned the road, right?"
Hel shifted uncomfortably, knowing he was right but not happy to acknowledge it. "We'll find the city soon."
"Are you sure?" He hands her a package of dried meat. She opens it carefully while he tears his much bigger ration open and devours it in minutes. He licks his lips and lifts his head, still hungry. "We have no map, and the last person who could give directions lives two days back the way we came, by flight. My last round of scouting revealed nothing. We must be very much off track."
"We can't just go back."
"I was not about to suggest that, but it actually sounds like the safest idea we have."
"No, no. Who knows what's happened to the others out here. We need to press on and find them as soon as-"
She stops when she meets Zafnir's stone-cold glare. "We can't help them if we die out here."
She takes a deep breath, steeling herself for an argument. "But-"
While they sit there in the hot sun, arguing about their next move, anyone could approach them unnoticed. Either that or Zafnir might take off if he feels his frustration turn into outrage. A good flight would soothe his nerves after another argument with Helynah.
Yang soared over the desert sky, scanning the area. It was such a boring terrain. Sand, sand, sa- wait… There were to colored blurs, one of which a dragon/human, the other looked like a human. She glided down to them. "Hello!"
Zafnir leaps to his feet first, eyes widened in fright. He crouches low to the ground, a scaly beast prepared to attack with big claws and teeth and plenty of fire (that he would never use, but the thought is there.) His wings and tail curl around Helynah protectively, but she brushes the gesture aside and steps forward. Her hand rests on the ornate blue trident strapped to her back. She meets the bizarre character greeting them without even blinking.
"Who are you?" She asks. Her eyes flick up and down, taking in the black horns, the silver-touched dragon wings, the shocking white hair, all attached to a muscular human form with a chiseled face and twinkling eyes. She's not completely sure what to think.
But when Zafnir gets over his initial shock, he relaxes and trots toward the girl. "Thank the Goddess, we are saved!" He rears up on his hind legs, a gesture that, if he isn't about to attack, means that he's about to scoop someone up in a hug.
((A brief note: Zafnir is much less anthropomorphic than Yang is; full dragon, has hand-like front feet for grasping and can stand like a bear, but he prefers walking on all fours.))
(Alright)
"What are you doing in the middle of the desert!?", Yang asked, clearly surprised to see them. She stepped back from the other dragon who had originally seemed hostile, now not so sure, but she wasn't taking her chances with so much at risk. She curled her clawed hands into fists just in case. I can't forget about Blossom and Rouge.
Zafnir takes the hint and settles again on all fours. He lowers his head in a silent apology. "We're in search of civilization. We hope we can find-"
"We're headed to the 'Infinity City'," Helynah says coldly.
"And we lost our way some time back," Zafnir adds. Helynah glares, unhappy with his eagerness to reveal their present weakness.
The big dragon notices and smiles at her pleadingly. She sighs and relaxes her grip on the trident. "First, who are you?"
No. She was not going to ask the strange woman for help until she at least had her name.
"I'm Yang, nice to meet you! And you aren't far from Infinity City!" Yang paused and thought this over. She must know what they planned on doing before leading them to Infinity City.
Both of their eyes light up with hope. Zafnir's jaw splits in a wide, toothy grin. "Likewise, Yang," he says politely. He holds out a forepaw, seeking a friendly handshake. "I am Zafnir."
"Helynah," says the woman. She waits patiently for Zafnir to complete his polite greeting before cutting to the point. "Any chance you could show us the right way to the city?" She asks.
Neither traveler seems eager to explain why they wanted to reach the city.
Yang returns the handshake. "What do you plan to do in Infinity City?", she asks, her voice filled with curiosity.
After the handshake, Zafnir backs up so he stands next to Helynah again. They exchange a look. After a moment, Helynah nods.
Zafnir sighs and shifts left and right uncomfortably as he speaks. "We lost someone, about a week ago."
"A few someones," Helynah admits. "And last we heard, they were looking for Infinity City."
"We decided to follow their tracks and hope they made it there in one piece, but-" Helynah clears her through and shoots him a pointed glance. They've explained enough. He shuts his mouth and sits down, waiting to hear an answer from Yang. Helynah leans on his shoulder, relaxed but alert.
"What are their names? I might know them.", Yang asks. Why are they being so vague?
