Jane smiled. "Thank you. And I'll take care of you."
Jane smiled. "Thank you. And I'll take care of you."
She dipped her head. "Where'll I be sleeping?l
Edonine exhaled slowly. "I'm just scared.."
“I promise,” he said quietly, knowing the weight his words carried, “That I will do everything in my power to keep you from harm.”

"I want to marry you," she spoke quietly.

"The upstairs guest bedroom," Jane answered. "Would you like me to help you with your things?"
Pierre’s heart skipped a beat, words dying in his mouth. Eventually, he found the courage to speak again and cleared his throat. “Then you will.”

"Yes please," she spoke, "Don't carry too much, I see yer expectin'," she fussed over Jane.

A small smile graced her lips. She hugged his arm a little tighter. "Good.."
Pierre dipped his head to kiss her, soft and slow.
Edonine held lightly onto his coat, feeling deeply at peace.
“I love you…” he murmured, pressing his lips to her temple. “I hope you never doubt that.”
"I never do," she whispered wholeheartedly.
“Good,” he whispered, tugging her closer still.
"I have one more request," Edonine whispered.
“And what would that be?” he questioned, pulling back enough to look at her.

"Oh, yes. My husband and I are very excited."

"I'd like to be a mother,"

"Mm." She smiled sadly. "I have a daughter.."
"That's nice!" Jane said happily, then noticed her smile. "What's the matter?"
"Sally was sold to a man in Virginia," she replied morosely. "Some… some thirteen years ago,"
Jane didn't think, she just reached out and enveloped the woman in a hug. "I'm so sorry," Jane said quietly.
“And what would that be?” he questioned, pulling back enough to look at her.
"I'd like to be a mother,"
Pierre's mouth fell slightly open as her words his home. "Oh…." Slowly, a radiant, hopeful smile began to spread over his face. "You want to… You want to start a family with me?"

Chadine was silent—with surprise or relief, it was hard to tell.

Jane took a step back. "I'm sorry," she said quietly. "I just wanted you to feel alright. Virginia's not that far away… maybe we could go and find her."
(We really need to clarify where they live/where John's military base is…)
