Ophelia smiled back, stealing some of the blanket and curling up next to Crissy again. The soup was delicious, if a little overcooked, when she finally had a taste of her own. "Tell me when you're done, I'll get you some seconds."
Ophelia smiled back, stealing some of the blanket and curling up next to Crissy again. The soup was delicious, if a little overcooked, when she finally had a taste of her own. "Tell me when you're done, I'll get you some seconds."
Crissy nodded slightly, taking another sip.
"So… anyways… tell me about yourself." Ophelia took a sip of soup. "We didn't get to talk much in the car. No detail is too small or too mundane."
Crissy fidgeted slightly. "Well, um… I'm finally reading Harry Potter?" She said, biting her lip. "Sorry, I'm not used to talking about myself…"
"It's fine, things like this take practice." Ophelia smiled gently. "How do you like Harry Potter? My favorite book was the fourth one, how about you? Or have you not gotten that far?"
"I'm only on the third book." She said, shrugging. "I'm kinda a slow reader…" She smiled softly, taking a another sip of soup.
"Me too, but I love reading. My room's full of all those huge bookshelves, absolutely stuffed with all the shit I used to read. I think it's just poetry and fairytales, to be honest, I never really had the patience for anything more."
"Really?" Crissy said, looking up at her, trying to picture that many books.
"Oh yeah, I'm still kind of a literature nerd. You'll see it tonight when we head to bed." Ophelia smiled down at her. "I could lend you a couple, if you've got any interest in pretentious poetry or cosmic horror."
Crissy nodded. "If- if you don't mind…" She said, smiling softly.
"Of course I don't! What kind of hostess would I be if I didn't? And besides, I'm not using them." She laughed. "I have half the damn things memorized anyways. What're you interested in?"
"Fairy tales." She said, smiling. "I like stuff that isn't real."
"Oh! I have a big book of all of Grimm's fairytales, how's that?"
Crissy nodded. "Yes, please!" She said, grinning. She only ever overheard most of them. When foster parents read to their actual kids.
"Great! I'll lend it to you after we're done eating. Or…" she looked down at her empty bowl and then back at Crissy. "We'll go after you're done. You should probably have a second serving, you're all skin and bones."
Crissy blushed. "Okay." She said, nodding. "Thank you…"
"I've already told you, you don't need to thank me." Ophelia smiled, picking up Crissy's bowl and her own. "We're roommates, it's not a problem."
"Sorry." She mumbled, looking back down.
Ophelia sighed playfully, leaning over to poke Crissy on the cheek. "It's fine. You've got nothing to apologize or thank me for. Just smile, you look cute when you smile."
Crissy blushed, about to apologize again before shutting her mouth.
Ophelia grinned, tapping Crissy on the cheek one more time before she left to refil Crissy's soup.
Crissy smiled softly. Maybe a little longer than a week or two if I can act a bit more normal.
Ophelia plopped the fresh bowl of soup down in front of Crissy. "You're smiling!! Good job, you look adorable."
Crissy took the bowl. "Thank you…" She mumbled, taking a quick sip.
"No problem. Also, didn't I say something about thanking me?" Ophelia teased, settling onto the couch.
