My teeth chatter, and my legs shiver as the breeze flows about my presence. I shuffle up the chair that bears my weight, causing it to creak and moan. My exams flutter before me, threatening to fly out the window. My hair flies around me, as well threatening to fly out of the window before me. I eventually have had enough, but as I stand up and push my chair out from under me, my foot catches, tripping me backwards. My head smacks against a sharp edge from my sofa-bed, and that was the last thing I remembered.
"Yeah, yeah, I'll take that case," I tell my boss, taking the chart from him. Nobody seems to know what happened, except that she hit her head on something sharp. The hospital has been really busy lately, so they had to leave an intern like me to the minor cases, although this didn't seem that minor. I found her quickly, just laying on a stretcher in the ER. There was a nurse there, tending to her head, where blood had matted some of her hair.
"Is she awake?" I ask, examining her wound.
