His eyes briefly flickered over to the stairs, confusion washing over him as he frowned over at her, but he said nothing as he came up to her. He listened to her patiently, then tipped his head to the side as he ran his fingers through his hair, teeth lightly pressing into his bottom lip. "Well…" He didn't know either, but he did delve into his memories of past meetings with his cousin. He sunk into the memory of when he first told her that he had no money to offer her.

"Arina, I really need your help, but I don't have the money to spare for an extra-large coffee, let alone pay for your rediculous fees," Kasiya pleaded with the younger girl. "Redore found me again. I need to get away and erase my existence before he physically finds me."
She didn't even bother with turning to face him as she clicked away at her laptop, all curled up on the computer chair. Her fingers flew over the keys, moving so fast he could barely make out the movements. "Then give me something else. I asked for payment, not money. Not my fault you're as dense as everyone else." He scowled at her and prowled over, shutting the laptop closed quickly; Arina barely had the time to pull her fingers out of harm's way.
"I'm tired of your games."
Slowly, so slowly, those arrogantly clever eyes lifted to meet his gaze, a glint in them that hinted at an intelligence that wasn't meant for the sound mind. "Tell me, Kasiya, why do you run from your twin so much?"
The question caught him off guard. He expected a biting remark, an insistence that he keep playing her games until he ultimately lost—not a shovel into his past. But then it clicked into his mind. Payment, not money. This was her cost. Arina dealt in information, so anything she could use against someone was payment enough.
"He tried to kill me."

Blinking the memory away, he let his eyes land on Joanna's face. "She'll do the digging for you," he decided. "If you really don't know what to give her, she'll dig. She knows what she wants, I don't."
