Daisy stood, eyeing him warily. "Why? What would you drop by for?" she questioned. The only thing that it might be would be the dinner, but that wasn't for two days…

“Can’t a guy come see his pretty little fiancée?” Arvil questioned, tilting his head slyly. “Besides, I’m a little tired of my usual routine. Perhaps I’ll have Noah take care of things for me.”

“One, I think the word you’re looking for is ‘handsome’,” Arvil chuckled at her reaction. “Second, that makes me want to call you that even more.”

Daisy scoffed and collected her things. "You're impossible," she muttered as she swept past him toward the door, the box of her food in her hand and her purse slung over her shoulder.

“All right, then, Noah, please look after things for me,” Arvil said, stretching. Noah merely nodded, typing away on his computer. “If anything goes wrong, do let me know.”

Noah rolled his eyes. “Perhaps you should focus more on your fiancée’s family rather than the company at the moment.”

Arvil shrugged. “Don’t miss this beautiful face too much~”

“The only thing I’ll miss is not being able to punch it,” Noah responded nonchalantly, still not looking up from the screen. Arvil laughed at him before he shook his head, walking out of the company.

Within a few minutes, he was at the address Daisy told him to come to. Her parents. Taking a deep breath, Arvil exited the car, his expression changing. He couldn’t mess this up.

He rang the bell and then waited for Daisy, or her parents, to answer.

When Daisy had arrived at her parents’ (rather large) house alone, her mother had immediately bombarded her with questions.

“Where is he?”

“Why isn’t he with you?”

“Didn’t you come together?”

“Daisy, why didn’t you come together?”

Daisy had simply sighed and stepped inside. “He had somethings to finish at his company, mother. He needed to come a a bit later.”

After a few minutes of more questioning, the doorbell rang, and everyone looked toward the door. Daisy wentbto open it and gave Arvil a (surprisingly realistic) fake smile. “Hello, love. Come inside, please.”

Arvil looked at Daisy with a soft expression, stepping closer and tenderly kissing her cheek.

“Hey there,” he breathed against her skin, following inside. “I missed you. I’m not late, am I?”

Daisy gritted her teeth a little, taking a deep breath to compose herself. Gosh, it was so hard to put up this act. This was a man she hardly knew, and yet she had to let him touch her and kiss her, even thought it wasn’t much of either.

“No, not at all. I was early,” she assured him as she stepped aside to let him in. “My parents are waiting in the living room.”

Arvil shot her a secret smirk before he stepped in, walking to the living room. He stopped before her parents, twisting his expression into a reserved yet graceful one.

"Mr. and Mrs. Riley," he greeted respectfully. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you."

Daisy’s parents looked up at the man before them… and their jaws practically dropped. That was Arvil Davis, president of [insert company name]. Their daughter was engaged to him? Of all people?

“Pleasure to meet you,” Thomas Riley greeted him, standing and hiding his hand out. “I had no idea my daughter was engaged to such a man.”

Arvil chuckled, firmly clasping Thomas's hand.

"That would be my fault," he responded, looking at Daisy with a soft look in his eyes. "I wanted to keep this a secret for a little while longer, just until I was able to give her more time instead of Cyber Incorporation. But it seems we've kept it a secret for far too long."

Thomas smiled at the man and released his hand, gesturing for him to take a seat on one of the chairs across from them. “Well, thank you for managing to charm Daisy. Her mother and I were beginning to wonder if she would ever marry.”

Daisy rolled her eyes and sat down in tha chair across from her father, leaving the one across from her mother for Arvil to take.

“Anyway. Arvil, this is my father, Doctor Thomas Riley, and my mother, Doctor Annalise Riley. Mom, Dad, this is Arvil Davis, president of Cyber Incorporation, which you obviously already knew,” she finally introduced them.

“Oh, she wasn’t easy to charm,” Arvil responded, winking at his ‘fiancée.’ “She was a tricky case, but here we are.”

He followed Daisy to the living room as she introduced the family, irritation lacing her voice. It amused him. He sat down on an available seat, right leg across the other, arms folded. His lips were twisted into a smile, but it had a certain edge to it.

“How is your work, sir?” Arvil questioned politely, keeping his eyes on Daisy’s father. “It must get tiring. Does it keep you away from spending time with the family?”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

“Work is good, thank you. It does keep me away a bit, but it’s not too bad. My wife generally works nearly the same hours I do, so we see each other between then,” the older man said with a shrug.

“And How is your job, Mr. Davis?” Annalise asked, giving him a calculated smile.

Deleted user

“Tricky, as you already know,” Arvil responded smoothly, the smile still on his face. “Keeps me on the edge. It’s rather interesting, but I suppose I’m being a bit biased.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Annalise nodded slowly and looked between the two of them. “And how long have you known each other? Daisy failed to mention that fact when we were talking the other day.”

Deleted user

“A year,” Arvil responded calmly. “I met her during an event hosted by my company. Your daughter is an excellent journalist.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Daisy’s parents looked at her, eyebrows raised. She shrugged and smiled over at Arvil. This was going to be exhausting…

“Yup. And then we exchanged number, started talking, and now here we are,” she explained, grinning at her parents as if it was the most amazing thing in the world to be engaged to this man.

Deleted user

“Here we are,” Arvil repeated, smiling back at Daisy, making sure his expression softened. It wasn’t difficult to do so. “I asked her to be my wife four months later.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Daisy glanced over at Arvil, blushing at the look he gave her. It worked to her advantage, though, making her just look flustered by him. “Mmhm. And I’ve loved these past few months. It’s great being engaged to him.”

Deleted user

Arvil smirked at her blush, continuing the pretense.

“Is it?” He purred. “That pleases me, Daisy. You don’t tell me that often.”

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Daisy coughed and looked away, fighting the eye-roll she wanted to give him. “Ah, yes. Of course it is. I just don’t feel the need to say it much. I thought it was obvious.”

Deleted user

"But I like to hear you appreciating me more," Arvil responded, enjoying the way she fought to keep her cool. "But that's to be expected."

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Daisy blinked and raised her eyebrows at him before shaking her head. “Right… So, Mom and Dad, any other questions for us?”

Annalise and Thomas looked at each other and shrugged.

“Not that I can think of at the moment,” Daisy mother said with a shrug. “But dinner should be ready, now. Shall we go eat?”
