“All right,” Arvil hummed. “The lady said so, and she shall get what she wishes.”
“All right,” Arvil hummed. “The lady said so, and she shall get what she wishes.”
Daisy rolled her eyes, though she was smiling slightly around her straw. “Thank you. Do you want to see the ideas for decorations I found?”
“Go on,” Arvil hummed, smiling when he noticed the smile on her own lips. Then he noticed the mayo smeared on the side of her mouth and he chuckled. “You’ve got mayo on your face, love.”
Daisy blinked and set the glass down. She grabbed a napkin, then tried to wipe off the mayo from her face.
“Did I get it?” she asked, looking up at Arvil.
“Wrong corner,” Arvil chuckled, reaching over to gently wipe it off with his thumb. He wiped that off with a tissue. “There we go. Now, the decorations?”
Daisy blinked at the touch but managed not to blush this time. She nodded and grabbed her phone again. “They’re all on Pinterest, so give me a second to find them,” she murmured as she scrolled. Upon dinging he board she had made, she turned it to show Arvil. “You can scroll through that whole board.”
Arvil nodded, taking the phone and scrolling through what she had selected. “These are good,” he hummed. “Just tell me whatever else you need and I’ll have it ordered.”
“Wedding planner, Arvil. She would handle the decorations. We need to hire one,” Daisy reminded him, taking another sip of her milkshake.
“The wedding planner shall have it ordered,” Arvil corrected himself. “I had a bit of free time, so I looked over a few weddings each planner had planned in the list I selected. I think I liked Macy Spencer’s.”
“Oh, shoot, I haven’t looked through them yet. I got really busy with work after you gave me the files,” Daisy admitted with a grimace. “Sorry, I’ll look through those when I get home.”
“That’s all right,” Arvil chuckled. “Take your time, love. Don’t rush yourself.”
“I’ll call you when I find one I like,” Daisy said, setting the half empty glass on the table. She gestured to it and asked, “Do you want any of this? I won’t be able to drink the whole thing.”
“I have a soda I need to drink,” Arvil pointed to his own half-full glass. “It’s all right if you can’t drink all of it.”
Daisy shrugged. “Just thought I’d offer,” she said before taking another bite of her food.
Arvil shrugged as he took the last bite of his food, balling the sheet of paper it was wrapped in and setting it aside. He chewed slowly, looking down at the table, lost in thought. He never stopped to ask himself this question–was it okay to do this? Even if they got married… he should at least treat her normally. No flirting as if he was speaking to his crush. No treating her like a crush. They were established as friends, and that was enough.
Daisy finished her own food not long after Arvil, then moved on to drinking her milkshake. He looked lost in thought. What was he thinking about?
“What’s going on in that big brain of yours?” she murmured, fighting off the blush the threatened to break out on her cheeks.
Arvil snapped out of his thoughts at her voice, blinking as he looked up at Daisy.
“Just… company things,” he lied smoothly, running a hand through his hair. “The usual.”
Daisy hummed, nodding slowly. “How’s work going? Anything interesting happen recently?”
“It’s good,” Arvil responded, removing his eyes from her. “There’s nothing interesting. Everything’s the same.”
“Cool, cool… How’s Noah? Still giving you a hard time?” Daisy asked with a soft chuckle.
“Of course he is,” Arvil snorted. “When is he never?”
Daisy laughed softly. “Well, at least he’s a good worker, right? And he’s pretty funny.”
“He has a dry sense of humor, Daisy,” Arvil gave her a blank look. “You just find him funny because he’s out for my life.”
“He is not out for your life,” Daisy laughed again. “He just likes to keep you on your toes.”
Arvil was completely and stupidly taken in by her laugh. He loved it. He hoped he could make her laugh like that during the time they spend together.
“You say that because he behaves around you,” Arvil crossed his arms and leaned back. “But I suppose that keeps me on my toes.”
