Inspired by this prompt: "Your country's trying to take over/annex my country and you're making it difficult to hate you because you're so nice and attractive, stop it."

In which Character A's is royalty and their country is about to be taken over by Character B's country (who is also royalty) and their family has tasked them with trying to get Character B to marry them so their kingdom doesn't get taken over. Unfortunately, A can't just ask B to marry them. B has to ask A for political reasons. Character A does not want to get married (at least not to B), but is trying to do it for the good of their country. Character B is very flirty and very cute and far more socially adept than A and can easily figure out what A is trying to do. Will they take pity on them and ask for their hand in marriage? Will they see how long they can play this game?

I will probably be Character A unless someone feels very strongly about it. This will most likely be a one on one but if two other people really want to join (one as like a handmaid or royal advisor or friend to A and one as like a handmaid or royal advisor or friend to B) I'll allow it. If anyone has any questions, just ask. I may ask you for a sample if I don't know you/haven't rped with you recently. I may say no because I don't think your writing style would pair well with mine. Sorry. It's nothing personal, I promise. Please use detailed answers that are two-three sentences long at a minimum. I will make occasional exceptions, but they will be rare. This will most likely be a heterosexual relationship, but I will make exceptions to that rule as well. If you have a question about this exception, just ask.

@Moxie group

Name: Princess Caroline of Eberton
Age: 19
Pronouns: She/her
Sexuality: Who knows. When it came down to it, she would probably be down with whoever.
Personality: Genuine by nature. Nothing was ever really expected of her until recently so she enjoyed flying under the radar and doing what her heart contented. She is quiet and doesn't always do well with people. However, she does love to talk about the things she's interested in. She knows a lot about politics, Independent, precise, easily flustered.
Appearance: Light blue/green eyes. Brownish red eyebrows. Long eyelashes. Long nose. Bottom lip is fuller than the top. Lots of freckles on her face, though they are usually covered up. A rounder face with a pointed chin. Pretty pale. Long neck. Fairly short (5'4). Her hair is reddish-brown, though it looks redder in the light. It is usually up.
Typical Outfit: Gowns in either a plain color or a floral pattern. Always wearing a corset.
Party Outfit: More elaborate gowns in more elaborate colors with more ornamentation. Typically will wear gold to parties because it looks great with her hair.
Weakness(es): Manipulative social situations.
Family (How old the family is, what their kingdom is called, how much power they have, anything else you think is important): Her kingdom is called Eberton. Her family and her kingdom are very old, but not very powerful. It goes over a lot of land and they don't have a large enough army to protect it all. A lot of it is being threatened by neighboring kingdoms. They have a lot of power in the central area of the kingdom and they have a lot of smart advisors and generals, but many of the smaller, lesser areas run by lords and earls are not as powerful.
Likes: Reading, tea time, flowers.
Dislikes: People who assume they are smarter than her, people who are actually smarter than her, lightning storms.
Other: She was fourth in line to the throne and never got very much formal training, but last winter a lot of her family died and she is now second in line when her father dies.

Name: Prince Emory of Valedinia
Age: 21
Pronouns: He/him
Sexuality: Straight
Personality: Emory is a slightly hardcore person. Everything was expected of him, he was never allowed to show weakness, he always had to follow the rules. Due to this he can be a little apathetic and often unsympathetic to certain situations. Though that doesn't mean he doesn't have a softer side, he just rarely shows it. He's rather good with people though, as it is expected of him to be a social person who knows all the right things to say.
Appearance: Light brown/amber eyes that are a soft almond shape. He has a slim face with chiseled/sharp features, especially those cheekbones. Pale, like 'i'm-wealthy-so-I-don't-have-to-go-outside' kind of pale, next to no blemishes. Fairly tall, around 5'10. His hair shoulder-length is brilliantly blonde, it almost looks white in the dark, and he usually wears it in a low ponytail. When he has it down, it only seems to accentuate his regal beauty.
Typical Outfit: https://pin.it/s77bzru3onhgdx
Party Outfit: https://pin.it/wj7bulvuymwws4
Weakness(es): Women, he can't seem to figure them out.
Family: Emory is the first born from the kingdom of Valedinia. Valedinia is a large, beautiful, powerful kingdom that has prospered in it's wealth for over a millennia. Their army conquered a lot of the land they now own and have several lords overseeing large sections of it. While they still face the threat of other kingdoms wanting to declare war, the current king and queen are confident that nothing of the sort will happen any time soon.
Likes: Sword-fighting, reading, horse-riding, archery and painting.
Dislikes: People who claim to be something they are not, people who threaten his authority, people who prey on the weak.
Other: I don't think so?

(Is he okay?)

Caroline sat on the balcony that overlooked the garden. It was far too cold to be sitting outside, but she barely felt the cold. And besides, she had a shawl. The breeze blew her hair gently back as she thought back to today’s meeting.

"Valedinia will take over our land if we do not do this! The very wellbeing of our country is at stake, Your Majesty."

The king had sat there, thinking it over. The entire room held their breath. "Very well. Caroline, you will go along with this." Caroline could do nothing but nod.

The princess considered running away –that was how much she hated this plan– but that would only create more problems than it would solve. So instead she sat and looked over the garden.

Prince Emory. Even his name disgusted her. She was told she had met him once, but it was a long time ago when they were both young, so the interaction hadn’t left much of an impression on her. She supposed she would meet him next week. Eberton was hosting a winter ball and representatives from every major country in the area would be there. Guests would arrive this week, but the festivities didn’t start until next week. That was Caroline’s chance to form a connection with Prince Emory, leave a lasting impression. Get him to want to marry her. She had no idea how to do that. She could barely get through a party. She knew politics, so she kept up in the strategy and advisory meetings, but this was different. This was the subtle art of getting people to do something they did not want to do without them knowing you were doing it.

With a bow to his mother and father, Emory waltzed out of the throne room. They couldn't see his frustrated frown.
He never did like attending lavish parties, despite it being expected of him. Everyone at those types of gatherings were superficial. Fake. What's more, his father mentioned a proposal? To the princess? It wasn't the best thing he had heard in the entire world, but some part of the prince took it as a challenge.
He remembered the time he had met little Caroline, he must have only been 8 at the time, but their encounter hadn't left enough of an impression on him for him to even consider engaging her…
It was only when he returned to his chambers that he remembered individuals of his status did not marry purely for love. They married to keep their kingdom strong. If it was expected of him to marry the princess, for the sake of his kingdom, then so be it. He just wouldn't be happy with it.

“Your Highness, the guests are arriving.”

“Thank you.”

Caroline didn’t need to greet the guests when they arrived, but she wanted to know anyway. She would have to stay on her toes the entirety of these next weeks. She stood up from her chair and quietly left her chambers, going to the library.

There were two ways to the library from her chambers. The first, and the usual one she took, was by the kitchen. It was an area she was still allowed to go through (she was techincally allowed to go through the kitchen it was frowned upon. Lord Charles had mentioned it several times in royal advisory meetings, so she stopped) and she usually utilized the privacy. Today she went the other way. Over a balcony that overlooked the entrance hall. She needed to see when everyone got there, put faces to the names she had been studying. Especially Prince Emory.

With the luggage packed and secured onto the carriages, the king, queen, and prince of Valedinia were on the road to Eberton.
From what Emory remembered, it was a beautiful kingdom that flourished mainly in its center. The outskirts of the land were supposedly full of rich foliage and full of wildlife, but even those areas were under threat from other kingdoms—including his own.

It was a long journey, and a boring one at that. All the king and queen talked about was forming an alliance with Eberton, and what they would do should the princess refuse to comply. All things that Emory didn't exactly care about, but he at least tried to look interested.
They eventually reached the palace gate, and once the carriage came to a halt at the bottom of the stone steps, Emory was the first one out. Rude, but he needed the fresh air before making his way into the palace. The royal family was escorted in by one of the maids—a dainty little girl indeed—but something else caught Emory's attention. He turned around, looking up a little, and found a beautiful girl stood on a balcony that overlooked the entrance hall.

Caroline watched people come and go. Nobles arrived. Maids and footmen and guards hurried back and forth, escorting nobles, bringing in luggage. Caroline had meant to get her book from the library and leave, but watching everyone was fascinating and no one had noticed her yet so she had stayed there.

She watched a maid lead the King and Queen of Valedinia in the entrance hall. She recognized them, becuase she had seen them before at parties or meetings. That meant Prince Emory wouldn't be far behind. . . . She looked down. A young man was staring right at her. He couldn't have been much older than she was. He had followed the King and Queen of Valedinia in to the room, and he looked like both of them. Prince Emory of Valedinia. And he was staring right at her.
