Theodol trotted along the forest path, deep enough into the woods that he would not be seen. His mane flowed behind him, whipping against his face every time the wind sped up. His hooves crunched sticks and rocks beneath him. This is what it's like to be free, he thought. Nobody was around; it was just him and nature. The trees shaded the sun, giving off only a golden haze, birds sung happily, and a waterfall nearby roared as it crashed from the mountains. Theo wasn't exactly sure what he was doing. He just knew that he had to get outside. That was his favorite thing, being outdoors. With the sun, rain, clouds, the bugs, the animals, and nature in general. It was his safe place. He belonged outdoors. As long as he could be out here in his true form, a large, six foot tall stallion, he was free.
(I changed the bio a little. I took off the unknown from fear/dislikes)
As Ariwyn walked through the rainforest she noticed it was eerily quiet. No birds singing or water trickling off the leaves. This isn't right. Ariwyn thought. There's always some sound coming from the rainforest. She decided to walk back home. Just as she got back, she noticed a small shell by the door. 5 O'CLOCK it read. Ariwyn knew exactly what that meant. She was meeting her friend at their special spot on the island. At 4:30 Ariwyn set off to the cave by the rain forest. When she walked by the beach, a large figure near the water walked past. Ariwyn walked closer. It was a large blackish stallion.
(clock read 5, but it’s 4:30??)
Theo gave a nod with a happy whine before twisting into his human form. In front of him stood a beautiful woman, an elf with long blonde hair that reached down to her ankles and sapphire blue eyes. Theo slipped off his shoes to feel the white sand beneath him.
“Ariwyn,” he said, acknowledging her. He had to speak loudly; a waterfall nearby roared as water rushed into the lake. He could feel the mist in the air. “It’s good to see you again.”
"Theo!" Ariwyn exclaimed. "I haven't seen you in, well a while." "I'm glad you got my shell. But it's a little early don't you think?" Theodol answered. "How are you?" Ariwyn asked, ignoring his question. "Not bad" replied Theo. "Up for a swim?" He started running up to the waterfall. "Only if I get to jump first!" Ariwyn felt the chill of the water as she hit it. Normally she hated doing things that weren't productive or didn't have a point. But with Theo, things were different.
(you aren't really supposed to play the other character)
Theo ripped off his shirt as he ran on the rocky path to the waterfall. It wouldn't be a large jump, although it may appear that way. Theo had jumped this cliff many times. He sprang off of his right foot and landed in the deep water. His hair stuck to his ears as he resurfaced. "C'mon! What're you waitin' for?"
Ariwyn swam in circles. It was a nice day out. The sun shining brightly, the calming wind, everything seemed to be perfect. Until Ariwyn heard the thumping. "Get down!" she whisper-yelled as she dove underwater. The black guards were on patrol today. And they were coming right for Ariwyn and Theodol.
Theo had a better idea. The Black Guard were travelling above the waterfall, so Ari and Theo hadn't yet been spotted. He grabbed her arm, which was difficult as she was diving. "Come with me," he said. He led her to the side of the river where a mound of rocks would shield them. Theo hopped out of the water, and within a minute, he was back to his horse form. He knelt down, waiting for Ariwyn to get on.
Ariwyn trusted Theo as she climbed on to his back. They waited until the black guards passed and then ran towards the forest. The thumping of Theo's hooves matched with the horses from the black guards. The black guards are evil, wicked people hired by the leader of the island. They're supposed to make sure the people weren't wrecking the island. But of course they had to take it too far. They thrashed though everything looking for people. Ariwyn put her hair up as she rode on Theodol. She jumped off his back as he neared her home. Ariwyn ran. She was safe. But what about Theo? She thought.
(Any other characters, we'll call NPCs, you can play as)
(Do you have an idea of why they're running)
There seemed to be guards everywhere. Theo transformed back and pulled a cap over his head. If he was seen, he'd be arrested. He wanted to go home, but the guards knew where he lived, so he ran into a nearby forest. The Black Guard trailed him closely, but Theo was too quick for them. He scuffed up the dents of his shoes in the mud as he ran. Finally, he jumped up a large tree. He climbed for a couple minutes, sure to get out of sight, and leaned his back against the trunk. He held his breath as he heard the sounds of the Black Guard's horses running nearby. All I did was free a couple of my kind, Theo thought. And now I'm being hunted.
(because you won't go im continuing by myself i know you never have roleplayed before but still)
Ariwyn ran inside, locking her doors and sticking a piece of wood over the lock for extra protection. Did the Black Guard know where she lived? Would they find her here? Ari's home was quite small, as she was the only one who lived there. She ran through the house, pulling blinds shut. She swung a pre-packed sack of essentials -dried food, canteens of water, and a change of clothes- and crouched in a corner near the back door with her head in her hands.
It'll be okay, Theo tried convincing himself. They'll pass right under me… It'll be fine.
"I saw him go this way," shouted a rough voice, and the thundering of horse hooves became louder. Theo pressed himself against the tree, breaking off a piece of bark. He hoped nobody would hear that. If only I had my bow. He cursed, annoyed with his forgetful self.
"I see him!" said another voice, younger, this time. Theo clenched his teeth at these words as he tried to scramble higher up the tree, but it was impossible. The branches had become too thin, and he was too heavy. Maybe, none of the Black Guard could climb. But, his hopes were too high. A sharp pain pierced his right shoulder. A blow dart. Suddenly, his hearing went away, his vision went dark. He fell from the tree.
(NOOO! Theo!)
Ariwyn couldn't decide what to do. Should she go after Theo? She had helped him free some of his kind, but was that really illegal? No. Those poor horses were getting worn out day after day in competitions and rodeos. She decided to go after him. Even if it meant risking her life.
Theo woke with a gasp. His wrists were tied in a thick rope, and he was slouched against a cold stone wall. The room was dark, except for the minimal light pouring through the bars of a small window. He struggled to stand, looking out the window. Outside was a hallway and a guard standing with his sword out. He looked angry. Theo saw no door, but there had to be one. He probably could only see it from the outside. The window opened, but only would fit a tray of food through it. Even if he transformed, he wouldn't be able to escape. He was stuck.
Ariwyn rushed outside to her dad's stables. "Hey dad! Can I borrow your horse? Thanks!" Ariwyn hopped on her dad's horse and rushed towards the forest where she and Theo were. No sign of him. If he was captured, they would take him to the Holding place across the river. Ariwyn thought. We'd get all wet. But for Theo it's worth it. She and Wendall (Her dad's horse) went across the river, getting soaked. They went in the direction of the Holding. Ariwyn's only been there once to visit her second cousin who was framed. She left Wendall tied to a near by tree. She didn't want to tie him up, but otherwise he might run away. And that would cause problems because her dad never really said she could borrow him. Ariwyn went around the back. There were guards everywhere. She could pay to visit Theo, but she didn't want to visit him, she wanted to let him free.
Theo clenched his fingers around the windows. He pulled at them, though he knew it wouldn't do anything. He screamed. He scream for help. He screamed for Ariywn. He screamed for anyone who could help him.
After tears were rolling down his cheeks and his fists were sore from banging on the walls, he sat on the floor and waited.
(Sorry this is kinda long)
Ariwyn had a plan. She was taught some self defense when she was little. The Black Guards were dangerous. So her father always wanted her to be able to defend herself. For her plan, Ariwyn would go to the back, where only two guards were. No doubt they had radios on them. She needed a uniform to blend in with other guards. But of course she can't just knock the guards out and not expect to be caught. Ariwyn quietly pressed herself against the wall. There was a window that was big enough to fit in, but it was at least 15 feet high. She couldn't go to the ledge on the other side of the wall, because the guards would see her. Ariwyn took a small rock from the ground, and chucked it at the door with the guards. It went through the glass above it. The guards ran inside to inspect the damage. Now was her chance! Ariwyn rushed to the other side, jumped on the ledge, pulled herself up to the window, and somersaulted through. Quietly, she looked around the room she went into. She found an old torn Black Guard uniform. It was better than nothing. She put it over her clothes, and left the room. Ariwyn looked down the hall. There was a Black Guard at almost every door. Ariwyn started down the hall, looking in the windows. She stopped at the sight of someone familiar in one of the rooms. Theo. She walked up to the guards guarding the door. "I can take it from here." She told them. "What happened to your uniform?" One asked. "Got into a fight with the person who smashed the window 'round back." Ariwyn answered. "The head said he wanted you two at the scene. Their putting up quite a fight." "Why should we believe you?" The other guard asked. "You don't have to. But if you choose not to, you could get fired." Ariwyn replied. "Whatever. I can cover you guys." "Fine." Said one. "But the head wanted two guys here. That idiot in there is a fighter. He's not an idiot! Ariwyn thought. I'm sorry Theo. "Yeah, I know. But it's only for a couple minutes right? And well, I can take a few punches." "Not sure that's true." The first guard said, glancing at her uniform. "Oh come on. All that idiot did" Ariwyn said pointing at Theo, who was now staring at her with wide eyes, "Was free a couple of horses. You found them all right?" "All but one." The other guard said. "Yeah well it wouldn't be dire to let him go now would it?" "He still has a couple of years left. We would lose our jobs if he escaped." "Fine." Ariwyn rolled her eyes. "You'll both lose your jobs anyway if you don't go help out the head." She started walking the other way. "Wait." The first guard called. "Fine, you stay here. But if we come back, and you were fooling us, you're as good as dead." Both guards hurried down the hall. Ariwyn looked in the window. There, glancing back, was Theodol.

(say thanks to callie for that)
( cvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv. and for that. anyway, you should search up the meaning of dire. i do not think it means what you think it means.)
"Ari!" Theo whisper-shouted when he saw her. "Thank the One Listening! Help me out of here."
(I was really hoping you'd write more with that)
(well hes friking trapped in a cell with no way out what can he do)
"Listen, listen," Theo said frantically. "There's more guards, they be here soon. Can you open the door? I can tell you how to pick a lock - do you have something sharp? Yes? Ok - ok, just, just put it in the lock. There's a normal padlock right? Ok- put the pin in the top of the lock, and just… ugh, how do I explain it? Move it around in there until it opens. The peg things inside need to be moved correctly."
"Theo. Here's my plan. I'm going to get you out of here. I'm going to just use the key in my uniform." Ariwyn said. She took out the key and put it in the lock. It opened. "The guards won't notice you're gone. Here put this on." Ariwyn said, pulling a uniform from her bag. "And give me your sweater and shorts." Theo changed and gave Ariwyn the stuff. Ariwyn took the clothes and stuffed them. She put them on the bed and covered them with a blanket. "Come on! Theo, go and hide in that storage room. The real guards will be here any second. Go!" Ariwyn shoved Theo out. She grabbed the lock and locked the cell. Just after, the guards came back. "He's still there?" One said. "Yep." Replied Ariwyn. "Fell right asleep. Well, better go get a new uniform. Bye" And with that, Ariwyn left to go get Theo and get out of there once and for all.
