The long way home.

You hadn’t really meant to be driving out this late, but can’t exactly predict the traffic, now can you? At least you’re almost home.
You’re on a long road now. A dark one. It’s pretty rural out here, although you can see lights from a gas station (at least you assume that’s what it is) in the distance, maybe some other buildings too. But what I’m trying to say is…it’s dark.
So dark.
So dark that you practically speed into the individual standing RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.
Did you hit them, or miss? Either way, you slow down, and aim to find out. Perhaps not out of concern for the person, but to see if there was any damage… or maybe you really are a good person, and you do want to check on them.

You probably should have kept driving. No- you really should have kept going.

———

another one of my good old “character gets dropped into another world” rps
Some notes

  • the world this RP takes place in is very much like ours…except people have powers. now, most aren’t very strong, but most people have them. When you make your character, you can choose to be apart of this majority…or not! sometimes there’s a certain challenge in not having them in a world full of people with them. and sometimes it’s better, since certain powers are weirdly useless or only apply to very specific situations.
  • powers usually do not get any stronger or weaker throughout one’s life; what you have is what you’re stuck with, even if it’s the most useless power to ever exist. now…for this RP there may be exceptions (that only apply if you choose to have a power. it’s your choice, and I cannot stress that enough!)
  • if it wasn’t clear, you play the role of the individual driving the car.
  • Mojack, why does the intro say I should have kept driving? is this character of yours malicious? idk, that depends on what your intentions are to him and how your character acts
  • the nature of this line;

    Perhaps not out of concern for the person, but to see if there was any damage… or maybe you really are a good person, and you do want to check on them.

  • implies your character may not be a Great person. (putting it in front of you, you could play a murderer in this RP if you so desired. after all, why are you driving that car so late? fleeing something, or going in a hurry?). of course, you don’t have to go the criminal route! you could be a ‘normal person’. and you can still be mad at this person standing out in the middle of the road for some reason without, you know, having blood on your hands. Your reaction is completely up to you!
  • powered people generally heal a little faster. not instantly (unless their power happens to be healing, but even that could take a few hours or even days depending on the injury extent)
  • most powers are indeed only usable in certain situations, or ‘useless.’ here’s a website for ideas: https://www.rangen.co.uk/chars/powergen.php, http://www.generatorland.com/usergenerator.aspx?id=22289

  2. I am not the most active person (although it is my break, so I should be somewhat more available). Please remember that when joining. also remember that sometimes I think I replied, but then I actually forgor 💀. there could be many reasons, so note that, but always remember it’s nothing against you.
  3. in the event of a fight, play to your strengths…but remember your weaknesses. don’t autohit, but no dodging everything either. It’s okay to take hits!
  4. Good grammar always appreciated, however we all make mistakes in writing! i certainly do.
  5. Mature RPers preferred, if only due to the presence of violence that may occur in this rp.
  6. on violence - there is a time and place for everything, although violence, blood and cursing are all allowed!
  7. My only rules for response length is that you give me something to work with. The same applies to me, of course.
  8. NO SEX. (was seriously debating on just leaving this one as “NO SEX”, but I will offer some explanation. if it should happen, it WILL be fade to black. i am not comfortable writing it with another person)

Name: Kyrios (Kear-ree-ohs) Siiravin (Seer-ah-vin)
Aliases: Son of Siira, Mind Devourer, Traitor - Kyrios has many, and remains quite proud of all his titles.
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Pronouns: he/him, does not care much though what others might refer to him as.
Orientation: Demiromantic pansexual.
Employment: Officially - nothing. In his world? Killer of literal monsters. Although technically, it’s not an official thing, either…
Powers: Aeth usage - in simple terms, Aeth is “magic,” flowing through the veins of certain individuals, and even making up some creatures as well. A non-Aeth user can live without Aeth, but an Aeth user cannot (essentially, their lifeblood). Kyrios is a stronger Aeth user than most, although far from the strongest (where he comes from). Aeth would normally enable him to shift the very elements of the world, although for this RP, he would now be in a world without Aeth, so his Aeth merely impacts himself (improving his fighting ability mostly).

Personality: Kyrios has a personality one may describe as “grating.” It’s not that he’s devoid of good traits, either. But he’s quick to think - and assume things that may not be correct. Kyrios rarely looks to see what’s around him, usually seeing what’s in front of him instead. He’s determined; once he’s started on something, he will get that ‘thing’ done.
While one might think of Kyrios as being the brash warrior, he’s also quite the poet when he wants to be.
Although certainly hard to be considered one of his friends, a friend of Kyrios is someone he’ll do anything to defend.
Appearance: Few know the true appearance of the Mind Devourer, although a few things can be considered when thinking about it — considering his relations to Siirawyn Joselvin, who had pale blond hair, it’s safe to say that he also has that hair colour. Along that, he would probably keep it at a modest length, probably goes down to the base of his neck at the longest. In addition, it’s fair enough to confirm that his hair would be wavy.
Pale skin, although has gone down to an ivory colour in recent years. Due to being an Aeth user, his inner irises are golden, softly glowing in darkness. While the rest of his iris is quite literally a deep purple (best described as indigo), due to his Aeth Beast heritage.
Somewhat muscled build, ‘trapezoid’ body type. Stands at around 6ft in height.
There are rumours, due to his Aeth Beast heritage, he can become one himself, although Kyrios himself has no clue if this is possible.

Clothing: The Mind Devourer is rarely spotted without his armour, although in more casual settings wears a cloak that does an excellent job at making him look somewhat normal. The cloak additionally has a hood that can be brought up to cover his head. The cloak is navy blue, with an odd, golden design set in the middle of it. https://s3.amazonaws.com/notebook-content-uploads/content/uploads/original/170a7f59-18b0-4d22-bf78-0be8532345eb.png?1656985189
Kyrios’s armour is primarily silver, or at least looks like it. His boots look to be iron, although a careful eye may note how the boots are purposely built to allow relative ease of movement - for the user to be light on their feet.
He sports a metal belt. Upon closely inspecting it, you can see a variety of designs carved into the metal - a large, ancient tree being directly in the middle, with its roots extending all around, seemingly shifting into serpents near the end.
The bracers on his forearms take a different direction, covered in what appears to be large, charcoal grey scales (or at least a material made to look like scales). In addition, his upper leg armour seems to share the same features. His gloves appear to have been designed so that it appears that he has sharp claws on the end of each digit.
Kyrios wears a helmet, primarily silver. A grey plume sits on top of it.
In addition, he has a full face mask. There are eyeholes on it, with “good visibility” as stated by Kyrios himself once. A small line is in the middle of the mask, going between the eyes and almost all the way to where the mouth would be (the line does not completely go through the mask, it appears to just be a small dip in the metal). But where the mouth is; the mask here has been shaped into a demonic grimace, fit with the sharp teeth and everything - the teeth are made of a different material - they almost appear to be real teeth!

Background: Born in the land called ‘The Shattered Lands,’ Kyrios was not raised by humans (although they once were humans), but by beings known as Aeth beasts - Aeth users twisted into creatures of horror. Additionally, he was not born, but created by a beast named Istrad.
Istrad and her collective was all he truly had in terms of education. When it came time for the mission (Istrad had been training Kyrios for this very purpose), he set out of the Shattered Lands for the first time.
Istrad would be disappointed when her child never returned - no, furious at this betrayal. What became of Kyrios was a long set of events that eventually ended with him starting a new life of his own. But Istrad never forgot - she began to send Aeth Beasts after Kyrios, ruining all that he had built, and setting him on the path of revenge.
Now, Kyrios hunts down Istrad, knocking down whoever he needs to along the way.
Other: Kyrios’s preferred weapon is a large axe. The axe is unique in the way that its blade is fashioned from the same scales as his forearms and upper legs, which would almost make it seem like an inconvenience if anything. It’s also unique in that way that it’s quite large, which he usually uses his Aeth to conceal it. This, unfortunately requires him to constantly seep power from his own Aeth, which normally wouldn’t be a problem…but…
Aeth can regenerate on its own naturally, although there are alternate (and preferred) ways to regenerate Aeth faster. Unfortunately for Kyrios, none of the alternate ways are possible in an Aeth-free world!
As he is now in an Aeth-free world, he can only really utilize Aeth in ways that affect himself (healing, perception, strength), although he’s still certainly able to blast his foes with his own Aeth!

Employment: Journalist
Powers: when someone says something false he suddenly knows a truly random piece of information about them, from their favourite ice cream flavour to the skeletons in their closet, without being able to control what he gets. however, if they so desire, the person lying can control what information they offer him.

Personality: a jittery and over-excited guy. constantly searching for stimulation and adrenaline, throwing himself into everything he sees often without thinking. very much not stupid, just has a careless and irresponsible air that masks the cleverness. very perceptive and sensitive but quick to recover from emotion, not one to linger. although he's mostly smiley and open, he switches into interrogation mode easily and often lacks tact.
Appearance: a little bit squat, very square, freckled and ruddy and ginger. 5'7, muscled, clean-looking. a spiky mass of hair usually pulled back in a ponytail. big tawny eyes and a wide welcoming smile.
Clothing: casual but presentable most of the time, a clean crisp t-shirt and linen trousers sort of vibe. blue vans he treasures and a ton of earrings.
Background: he transitioned early on in his life, born into a comfortable and accepting family. that did not change the fact that he was miserable in his teenage years and just barely passed his high school degree. he had fun messing with his power, but accidentally learned something very compromising about his high school director at graduation. queue him mysteriously getting into a decent college, finding a number of other privileged friends, and eventually reporting on the workings of high end companies his friends work for – this is not a moral mission. it is fun and terrifying and a distraction from a fair level of unhappiness that lingers. this led him to becoming a problem by criticising them and creating bad publicity. the scenario of his late night excursion that kicks off this RP will come to light gradually.
Other: he is agnostic and skeptic on many things mystical and mysterious. however, he thirsts for knowledge as a way to propel himself forward and assert his position. with whatever chance he is given, he will research, research, research.

@Mojack group

Oh, Istrad. I’ve come for you.

Kyrios charged forwards. But it wasn’t a blind rush - he weaved through the traps of the Sanctum, familiar with their location due to having grew up here. The irony was not lost on him.
Where would Istrad be in here? Where would she have chosen to reside - where the Aeth flow is strongest, Kyrios had bet - all the way up there, the highest building in the sanctum. Easy to defend due to its few entrances, yet if he made it up there - And I will, Kyrios thought - he could easily corner Istrad, leaving her nowhere to run.
His way to the tower was not uneventful, with Istrad clearly being aware of his presence - she had sent a few Lesser Aeth Beasts to intercept him. The battles would normally be swift, although Kyrios hoped to conserve most of his Aeth for the harder battles. Still, he made it past them.

But those Aeth Beasts weren’t there to stop him. They were there to slow him down - for a trap that Kyrios could not predict, if he did not know about it to begin with. His assault was paused as he felt a barrier of powerful Aeth - he immediately recognized it as being Istrad’s. And for a moment, had thought that she’d come down to face him herself - but that was wishful thinking.
Kyrios had just fallen right into a trap. Searching the area for possible Aeth Links, Kyrios spoke out, Come down here and face me!

No.

The voice was Istrad’s, responding to him on the Link. You always were a fast thinker. But not fast enough.

“What does-“ Kyrios started, speaking out-loud- barely having time to register the sudden rush of Aeth in the area.
It was all a flash.

———

Thunder rumbled in the dark clouds, which drew themselves over the night sky.
When Kyrios awoke, he was no longer in the Sanctum - that very much was clear. He was outside. And outside of the Shattered Lands, he reckoned - a teleportation trap, he wondered?
A few light droplets fell onto his helmet and Kyrios collected himself, getting up into a crouching position. Darkness, as far as he could see. And the ground beneath him…hard, stony..? An unusual material, he noted, brushing his fingers against the surface.
Seeing no reason to keep it out, Kyrios allowed his Aeth to hide the axe on his back. He glanced around - if there were any threats, he could have it out in a flash. Quite a literal one, too.
As his senses re-adjusted, Kyrios sensed the Aeth in the surrounding area…or lack of it, rather. The odd ground beneath him - Kyrios stood up, glancing at it. A small bit of wind had his cloak moving in its direction. That was unusual - everything had a bit of Aeth in it, even non-Aeth users. Unless it was more of Istrad’s lies…but why now? Why was there one area completely devoid of Aeth?
Lightning flashed in the distance, but it wasn’t enough to shake Kyrios from his confusion. Only a strange object on the road did, one that he noticed a bit too late. The lights in the front first caught his attention, out of the corner of his eye. As he turned his head to look at it, wondering if there were other people out in this strange pocket of land, he realized that the lights were getting bigger. Coming closer. And they were very fast.
Kyrios moved at the last second, right before the monster could hit him directly - a whooshing noise- it seemed to be metal based, judging by the few seconds glance of clarity he could get on it.
And yet Kyrios’s heart thundered in his chest. He’d never seen anything move like that before. Back to a crouching position, Kyrios gathered himself…

@amber_is_in_a_loop

The thundering rattle of the car matched the pace of Jack's heart, adrenaline and terror coursing through him at burning speed. Go faster, he begged of the car, please.
Any minute now. Any minute sirens and lights would flood the night and it would all be over. The lights of the manor had long faded and it was hard not to feel like the night was closing in.
"Fuck," he murmured tearfully. And a second later– "Fuck!" A scream that matched the roar of the car.
He leaned forward, trying to contain the sobs, head against the wheel as thunder shattered the silence, he looked up at the metal creature that leapt out from the center of the road and with another scream, swerved off into the grass, his head slamming into the wheel and everything going dark.

@Mojack group

Kyrios had spent a little too much time on the ground for his liking. That monster was nearby - the roar that it produced had died down a little, indicating to him that it had slowed down…and that it was presumably getting ready to go at him again.
Or at least, that’s what Kyrios expected. He was mildly surprised when he got up, and the monster had not turned around, but instead veered off the odd path and seemed…erratic.
Kyrios debated bringing out his axe for this encounter, but decided against it. He’d fought larger beasts without the use of his weaponry. He was certain he’d be fine.

Kyrios stood up, walking across the odd path and towards the monster. It seemed to growl, and yet, it wasn’t moving towards him. Injured, maybe? Kyrios cast a glance in the direction it came from - checking to see if it was being pursued. Much to his relief, he didn’t see anything - not yet, at least. If it was injured, it was only a matter of time before something bigger showed up…
Still, Aeth crackled around his forearms, forming into a thin shield that also served as a light source for him. With so few sources of light around, it seemed important that he was actually seeing what was around him. The Aeth was purple - unconcentrated, but still notable in amount.

When Kyrios approached the side of the beast, he noticed peculiar details - lifting one of his arms near its side, he took a closer look. Doors. Those are doors, right? He held his breath as he continued to inspect the monster. He could see inside of it, and now, he was certain that it wasn’t a beast, but some type of carriage. Or at least something for transportation - he was certain carriages usually had horses attached to them.
But when there’s carriages, there’s usually someone inside of them. He took a closer look at the windows near the back - seeing nothing, he moved onto the front.
There was a person inside of the carriage.

Kyrios leaned a bit closer, uncertain of what to think or do. He couldn’t see much of what the person looked like, only a vague figure, and they seemed slumped over. Unmoving.
His mask tapped against the window when he leaned in a bit too close, causing him to pull back.
And again, doing another Aeth check, Kyrios sensed none - not even from this carriage or the person within.
Had Istrad killed him, and was this the afterlife? Kyrios’s pulse briefly heightened, but he shook his head quickly, taking the fears out of his mind. He would not succumb to his fears - not out here.
In a rash decision - having grown tired of standing aimlessly - Kyrios began to try and open the door to the carriage. Get a look at this person, maybe find a sign - anything.

@amber_is_in_a_loop

For a brief moment of waning consciousness, Jack basked in a mellow blankness, a lack of feeling and knowledge. The next moment it all rushed back– led by the searing pain right in the centre of his face. He tried to lift his head from where it rested on the steering wheel but the rush of pain nearly sent him out again. A second try was more successful, blood sticking warmly to his skin and to the plastic. His head hurt– a lot– and his nose was definitely broken.
He remembered racing down the deserted road, away from– yeah. Panic and dread settled once more, gnawing at his fingertips, sending roiling waves of nausea to rival the pain. He must have encountered a slippery patch of road and lost control of the car.
Dazed, he jumped at a quiet knock on the window, wincing, but suddenly comforted at the prospect of help. As the doorhandle started rattling he gently righted himself. He came up face to face with the metal creature he'd nearly run over, memory coming back in a jolt of recognition.
In no state for reflexes, he stared dumbly up at him, fear slowly seeping in.
Now that he was closer and unmoving, he could see this was not, in fact, a metal creature, but a man in heavy armour shining silver. He helped the man get the car door open.
"You made me crash," he said weakly.

@Mojack group

Kyrios pulled back as the door seemed to push back at him, although quickly realized that the person inside - just slumped over moments ago - had woken up, and had become aware of his presence almost immediately. He could see more of the person - or other man now. Looks human to me.
When the man spoke, Kyrios noted the strength of his voice. Tilting his head to the side, Kyrios listened.

“Me?” Kyrios asked. “I’m certain you made the choice to crash that thing - all I did was get out of the way.” He lifted his arms, crossing them. He took a slight step away from the..carriage.

@amber_is_in_a_loop

Drained by the absurdity of the situation, Jack made no effort to get out of the car. Why, of all things, of all nights, did it have to be this? A knight. A knight at midnight. He giggled to himself slightly.
"And what was I supposed to do?" Jack whined, head lolling. "You were standing in the middle of the road."
He reached for the keys and pulled them out. "How bad is the damage? I'd really like to get out of here. Can you drive?"

@Mojack group

Kyrios wondered why the man quietly laughed - what had he thought that was so funny?
Road. He was familiar with that. Although it was certainly a bit of an odd road - Kyrios tapped his boot against the ground twice.

“Hmm…” Kyrios inspected the ‘carriage’. In all honesty, he was not the greatest judge of things - damage, danger, all sorts of things really. Still, his answer was - “Doesn’t look bad.” He glanced at the keys, thinking about what they’re for.
Can you drive?
Could he? Probably not. He had no experience with those sorts of things. Even then, this carriage was odd and unusual, differing from what he was used to seeing. Still, it didn’t stop him from answering.
“Yeah, sure.” Kyrios replied - a lie, but he was certain his straightforward tone was a good enough barrier that he could simply be out of this…empty place - he had observed, he hadn’t seen that many things out here - as soon as possible.

@amber_is_in_a_loop

(perfect. sorry for the delay)
With some fresh air and a little bit of time, Jack's thoughts were clearing. The strange demeanor of this man, his armour, his confusion, his being out in the middle of the road at the dead of night– it was edging on being a mystery.
And then–
"You're lying," he objected carefully. "You can't drive." Although the panic of the night's previous events was still severe, if the cops had been called they'd be here already. He slowly climbed out of the car and did his best to face off a significantly taller, confident, armoured man. Now that he was on his feet he was more his elf, and he'd had plenty of experience ignoring pain.
"What's Terrin?"

@Mojack group

((It’s no problem!))

Kyrios took a step back as his lie was almost immediately seen through. And as the other man stepped out of the carriage, and stood in front of him. Kyrios lifted his head slightly, staring at the man.
“You…” Kyrios began, only to drift off.
How would he know that… He thought his voice to be sturdy enough, and his body language confident - even then, his armour hid a lot of it from view, which could work in his favour while telling lies. Apparently, it failed him this time, as this man had just effortlessly pointed out the lie.
It was clear he had been slightly stunned. But he moved to answer the question, carefully. Even if he still couldn’t get it off his mind - how did he know.

“It’s a..language,” Kyrios started. “An old one. You wouldn’t know of it.”

@amber_is_in_a_loop

Everything in Jack suppressed a smile. Humour had no place in an interrogation, yet it was a pleasure for his power to be unknown and intimidating. This was his place in the world.
His mental notepad was out, noting details about this armour or anything that could be interesting.
Jack attempted to relax his shoulders, lose the thirst for intimation that his dismissable height rarely allowed him. He held out his hand.
"Sounds interesting. I'm Jack, sorry for almost hitting you." A pause, as if to make clear the implications of the question. "And you are?"

@Mojack group

“Jack,” Kyrios repeated, quietly humming to himself. “An odd name. I must be quite far from the Sanctum, then.” Speaking his thoughts, Kyrios was speaking the truth - he had never heard a name like it, and Kyrios had travelled a fair amount. But he didn’t know everything about the world. And he was well aware of that.
“In that case, my name is Kyrios Siiravin.” He debated dropping his titles - but decided against that. “In fact, it was probably better for you that you didn’t hit me.” There was nothing threatening in his tone - it was more of an observation, if anything. It had been a few minutes since the ‘near-hit,’ and he had a little bit of time to think on it.
On the thought of the almost-accident, he glanced down the road, seeing if there was anyone else coming down. He couldn’t see anything else, and looked back at Jack.

@amber_is_in_a_loop

Jack hung on to every word, his heartbeat thrumming through his broken body– the Sanctum, the name, it was all strange. Almost… alien.
This was the chance to investigate something new and untold. This was his chance to confirm or disprove his doubts. This was everything Jack had ever searched for. This was his life in the form of an armoured man, who would write only in Terrin, whose name was Kyrios, who come from the Sanctum.
Kyrios's glance around sent everything else crashing back down onto Jack, though.
"Oh god. We have to leave immediately," he said breathlessly. "Do you mind getting in the car? I need to stop by the hospital but I can drop you off at mine." His mind was racing. He couldn't let Kyrios wander off and get picked up by god knew who. But that also depended on Kyrios truly being some alter-dimensional being–
All this thinking was making him dizzy again. The pain had not relented and he needed to get treated soon.
"Mmmkay," he stumbled, "let's get going. You need to come with me."
He made it to the car and, clutching the door for discrete support, yanked it open, sliding into the drivers seat.

@Mojack group

“Oh. Are you being chased, then?” Kyrios had put together some thoughts and was rather straightforward in saying them. Undoubtedly, Istrad was going to send someone after him - the difference was being that Kyrios was going towards his pursuers most of the time.
“I could get them off of your trail,” he had suggested - his tone careless and light, not knowing who or what was pursuing Jack. And for what reason.

However, Kyrios moved towards the carriage anyways. There was a notable amount of unusual caution to his walk - slowly and carefully, he moved around it. How does this thing move, he wanted to ask, but decided not to delay their departure. He stepped into the passenger side - having to duck a small amount to get in the car, the plume on his helmet brushed against the top of the car - and then took a seat, staring at the inside of the ‘carriage.’ Which he wasn’t so sure was a carriage anymore - Kyrios had never seen something like this.
“Hospital? You’d be injured, then.” Kyrios stated. “Are you sure you can…operate this thing?”

@amber_is_in_a_loop

Jack grimaced in his seat, attempting to grapple with the dread the question had stoked. "There's always someone."
He fumbled for the keys in his pocket and stuck them into place.
"Sorry, these guys control the entire world we live in. They own it. I doubt there'd be much you could do."
Jack twisted to look over at Kyrios, surely the strangest thing this sturdy little vehicle had ever seen. "You wanna take that off?"
Settle the stranger slightly into his surroundings, and give Jack less to process every time he looked over. "And, yes, veering off the road would do that to you, but I can drive perfectly well. I could do it in my sleep."
He turned the keys with a little bit more temper than necessary; the engine sputtered a moment but then revved, and slowly but surely Jack backed up onto the road and out, away.
It didn't take very long at all for the questions to flood Jack's mind. "What's the Sanctum?"

@Mojack group

“Own it?” From Kyrios’s perspective, nothing in this world could ‘own the world,’ except for Aeth, which seemed to be the cause for the world’s problems. At least, based off of his own experiences and learnings. “Sure, sure,” he chuckled. “Whatever you say.” It seemed he didn’t take Jack too seriously.
In relation to being asked to remove his helmet (or at least his mask) Kyrios stiffened, although he was rather stiff to begin with, sitting almost awkwardly in the vehicle. “No.” His tone was firm, a bit more serious. He left it at that.
Kyrios glanced around at the noise of the engine, then towards the keys - carriage, he had been saying before? No, this was no carriage. This was something else entirely. He said nothing, but continued to look around, trying to figure out what this thing was exactly. An advanced mechanism, he was certain.
Hearing the Sanctum, he sighed. It made sense that most people wouldn’t know what it was - normal people, if they even knew of it, probably had a different name for it. The Sanctum was simply the name the Aeth Beasts called it by, and therefore, what Kyrios knew it by.
“Big place,” he began, “in the Shattered Lands. Hidden. A good portion of it is underground, but a lot of it is above ground, too. It’s very old, at least 900 years old. If I recall correctly, anyways.” He wasn’t certain of the exact age of the Sanctum, only that it had been around for a short time before the world fell apart, before everything, then all of its secrets were locked away forever when the world collapsed. At least, locked away to humans.
“I…grew up there,” he added, almost hesitant to say. There was no lie in his words - nothing.
