"That's why I'm here, my grandfat- well, you probably already know why I'm here anyways." He said with a shrug as they continued to walk. "Oh, uhm, it's nothing really, and well, I guess I'll have to thank Amity for telling you, but well, my sister will be married next year, and I would love to go, but I don't know if I want to. And that's kind of what Amity and I were talking about. She said that I should go, but going would leaving so much harder, because you know that you won't be able to stay. And then seeing everyone age while you don't, it's kind of hard to think about or even process."
Kuro smiled gently, his eyes softening as he turned his attention forward. "Amity always looks out for others here. She's been here the longest." His eyes narrow ever so slightly before he tilts his head and hums with thought. "Well… I'm sure that it would be fine. Just alert me if you choose to go or to stay." He smiled gently, placing a hand on Cai's shoulder. "Amity gives good advice but it is up to you to act on it or to make your own choice." He hummed as he lowered his hands and picked up Nyx gently, rubbing a hand through her fur as they walked.
"Yeah, I kind of get that sort of vibe or ambiance or something from her." He said with a shrug, "But I don't know, seeing them age and such, and well, I guess I'm just scared? But you might be right, well you and Amity might be right, but I guess I'll just need to think about it?" He said with a sad smile as he looked up at the god. "Anyways, I'm curious, how are god's made or something? Is it like a family sort of thing or are you appointed? It's never really been explained to me in a way that makes sense."
Kuro nods and smiles as Cai talked. "As I said, it's your choice." He hummed before glancing through the halls. "Well. God's can be birthed or chosen… It's a complicated process. Mother Nature usually choses. I was born from Mother nature, there is a reason they call her mother." He hummed with thought. "Aoife, my sister Life, and I were born from mother nature when the world began." He shrugged. "As for the minor gods, they were mortals who proved themselves worthy… they are approved and become minor gods of whatever they choose." He glances outside and takes a deep breath.
"Okay then." Cai mumbled fixing his hair a little bit. I didn't really want to talk about this to him, I guess I'll have to talk to Amity about not telling him this sort of stuff? Or maybe not, she did mean well after all, and nothing bad came from this talk, so I guess it was alright? He thought with a wry smile, before turning his attention back to the god. "Oh, so that's how it works? I never well, it still seems a little confusing, but I'm not going to try to become a god at all, so I guess it doesn't matter too much." Cayenne said with a shrug, as they neared the halls of the rooms. "Is this where we part ways?" The dryad said with a chuckle as they began to near his door.
The conversation had a flow to it, sure it had been awkward at first, but it was nice to have company. He had a gentle smile on his lips as they walked. Kuro shrugged after a moment. "Usually, yes. There have been some strange cases, but those were exceedingly rare." He glanced over when the other mentioned parting ways, noticing that they were indeed coming up to Cai's door. The God hummed softly and shrugs. "You should probably rest." He smiles gently and sets Nyx down. She wanders to Cai's door and wait's patiently for the two to catch up, licking at her lips a little bit.
Cai nodded, now as he grew closer to his room began to grow a bit tired. "Okay, Mr. Kuro, good night?" He said as he opened the door to his room, entering it, before turning around to smile at the god, "I guess I'll see you tomorrow at your office?" He said, his head poking out of the door.
Kuro smiled and nods a little. "Rest well. I'll see you in the morning." Nyx wandered into Cai's room, making herself comfortable on the end of his bed, curling up into a little ball. Kuro waved a little before returning to wandering the halls. It had been nice to have someone join him for once, even if the conversation had been a bit dreary. He walked around the house twice before finally settling into bed for the evening. It wasn't like he was going to get much sleep either way.
Cai sighed as he closed the door behind him, grabbing some pajamas and heading into his bathroom and washing up, closing the door, before coming out twenty minutes later dressed for bed. Now he was exhausted and falling asleep on his feet. He collapsed onto his bed, before crawling into the bed. He curled up into a ball, before closing his eyes and slowly starting to fall asleep.
Kuro stared at the ceiling for a while before shutting his eyes and relaxing slowly. He didn't know when he finally fell asleep. But the moment that he did, it was once again time to wake up. He grunts softly and stands as he relaxes into his bed.
In the morning he was up as usual, in his office by the crack of dawn working. Amity brought him his usual morning tea and he gets back to his usual files.
Cai woke up a little late, not hearing his alarm ring the first time, but twenty minutes later, he felt Nyx pawing at him, trying to wake him up. The man jumped out of his bed and quickly got ready for the day, not eating the breakfast that had been placed outside his door, and rushed to Kuro's office. He bumped into a few other people who were walking down the halls, before nearly running into Amity. The dryad apologized quietly, before pushing the door open to the office. "I'm so sorry I'm sorry that I'm late sir." He said as he headed over to his desk, watching Nyx pad in behind him.
Kuro worked quietly, humming along with the radio as he worked. He glanced up when Cai came rushing into the office and cracked a smile. "It's alright. Just try not to be late again, hm?" He tilts his head before smiling. "Hello Nyx." She mewled softly in greeting before she settled beside Cai's feet. Amity enters the room with Cai's breakfast. "Food does not go to waste and breakfast is the most important meal. You're allowed to eat in the office." Amity scolds gently before exiting the office, leaving Cai's breakfast on the table.
Cai nodded as he began to straighten his desk up a bit, "Yes, sir, I am so sorry about that." He mumbled, trying to move things around to make space for the food that Amity had left on the table. He really didn't mind not eating breakfast, after all, he normally skipped that meal at the center so he could sleep in a bit more. But he didn't want to upset Amity, so he began to eat as he went through the folders, marking the papers and files that the god had told him to mark the day before.
"No, it's alright." He chuckles softly. "I don't blame you for sleeping in a little. We were walking around quite late into the night." He smiles softly before glancing up at Amity and nodding. She waves and leaves, heading off to her usual job. Kuro worked quietly for a moment before saying softly, "How did you sleep last night?" He asks quietly, petting Nyx as she settled into his lap.
Cai yawned a little before answering, "I slept well, I guess I was just so tired that I crashed right away. But then having Nyx wake me up was a surprise, I guess all those days of Tonto and I just waking up late in the day are gone." He said with a small laugh as he began to eat. Oh god, I really miss Tonto, it's a shame I wasn't allowed to bring him here with me. But I guess if I had, he might distract me from my work and such.
"Nyx is a cat that enjoys getting up in the mornings. Before she got attached to you she was waking me up the moment the 'sun' rose." He laughed a little bit, humming as he places his finished files into a bin and sighed softly. He stretched a little bit and scratched under her chin as he finished off his tea.
"Oh, that must be nice. Tonto and I were always late risers, and well I guess it's not so bad to be woken up so early. I mean, besides the fact that I nearly had a heart attack to feeling something pawing at my face it wasn't that bad." He said with a chuckle, finishing up his breakfast rather quickly. "Just out of curiousity, how many cats do you have?"
"That does sound rather nice, sleeping in." He chuckles quietly into his hand. "Everyone working here is allowed weekends off. So they can sleep in. For me, however, I like working." He shrugged. "So waking up early has become my routine. As for the amount of cats, I have 12, and counting. Most of the times, strays come to live here. Most of them are ones I've saved. Nyx was the most recent one that likes showing herself. Many don't like appearing but they're here."
"It is, although I do struggle at times with deciding to get out of bed or stay there for five more minutes. where I'm from the wintertime is freezing, and at times I have to make the horrible decision of getting out of bed and going to work at the center, or just staying in bed for the rest of the day. Sadly, I normally end up choosing to get out of bed, but every so often, I sleep in, then get yelled at by the other's who work at the center with me." He said with a chuckle, now beginning to focus on his work more as he began to speak to the god a bit less.
Kuro chuckles. "There are definitely moments where it's hard to get out of bed and face the world, plus beds are so nice and comfy." He laughs quietly to himself as he finishes another file. "Well. Sleeping in is fine here, so long as you get your required work done. Some people are more active at night, which is why I leave the office open at night, of course, it's rare for them to wander the halls. As long as everyone is fed, and has slept, I don't really care for when they come to work." He shrugs and smiles a little bit, focusing on his work.
"Really? I thought that everything was on a set schedule, well that's what Amity told me, and well that's how it seemed on my schedule." Cai pulled it out of his pocket, unfolding the paper and skimming over it. "So is this just something that I can work off of, but not exactly have to follow?" The dryad asked, looking over at the god, confusion sort of written all over his face.
"Amity believes that everything should be run on a tight schedule." He chuckles quietly and smiles over at the other. "But it's more of guidance if anything. As long as you work hard and get your assignments done, it doesn't really matter when you do it. I understand that some people are more active in the evenings, afternoon, morning or nights." He smiled gently. He didn't seem to be bothered by the questions, so Cai could ask as many as he liked.
"Oh, I guess that's fair?" He said with a shrug, before looking back down at his work. "Oh, so that means that I can just sleep in?" He laughed a little bit, before looking over at Nyx, "You woke me up for nothiinnnnng." He said, before laughing at himself and the situation, "That's great, but well, it might be easier for me to come in in the mornings I guess."
He nods and smiles, "Yes, you're allowed to sleep in." He chuckles quietly and returns to his paper work. "Which ever works best for you. I'm here all day." He hummed a little as Nyx leaps onto his desk. Nyx mewled and flicked her tale and he snickered softly as if she had said something hilarious. She pawed at Kuro and he chuckled before petting her gently.
