Peggy-Sue hummed to herself as she strolled through the park, having long lost track of time, standing by the old swingset and staring up at the stars. Stars don't fall from the sky, right? She thought to herself, though she wasn't sure why.
Rosie wondered through the empty streets, the cold air nipping at the tip of her nose. She smiled fondly, a strong sense if deja vu washing over her. Perhaps she'd been here before? She couldn't quite recall.
She crossed the silent road to the park, sitting under one of the old tree
Peggy-Sue leaned a little against the play structure, fingers tapping out a beat against the cool metal poles. The phrase fall from the sky kept looping through her mind, like an old song stuck in her head.
Rosie closed her eyes and listened intently, taking in the sound of small creatures scurrying through leaves.
Every so often, she'd hear a crunch, a stifled breath, but she brushed it off to her imagination
Peggy-Sue eventually pushed herself off the structure, walking again. Leaves crunched under oxfords, a breeze picked up stray locks of hair. It was a nice fall night, cool before the cold of winter would start to settle in. She kept along the path, humming to herself.
Rosie stood up once more. She'd become too paranoid sitting alone.
She shuffled her way towards the swing set sat in the centre of the park, sitting down, slightly of put by the still-warm seat.
Peggy-Sue stopped again, suddenly becoming very aware of someone else's footsteps.
She swung her legs lightly and sunk into her own world, mind wondering from possibility to possibility, completely unaware of the space around her
She blinked a few times, hearing the footsteps again. She turned around, making her way back to the playground, feeling she shouldn't take that path tonight.
