I’m pretty sure everyone knows what a mermaid is. People with the lower half of a fish, or at least fish like creature. But these things - nicknamed Mers, ironically a short form of mermaid, although they’re quite far from being mermaids - are different.

Mers have the capability of becoming up to three different forms. A human like form, and a more monstrous form. and of course, in between, the form that gives them their similarity to mermaids. In fact, one could consider them nearly identical. It’s the form they become when they’re spending time near land, near humans - although most make an effort to stay away from humans. It’s not like they’re afraid - Mers are known to eat humans. It’s more so afraid of what the humans will do to them.

But humans are pretty much equally as scared. You can’t go swimming out in a lake without the fear that a Mer will turn up and drag you down to the depths. Although, your chances of seeing a Mer are very low. Most humans go their entire lives without seeing a Mer.

So what happens, when you get a human with a special bloodline? A special type of blood which attracts the supernatural to their location. By this time, the human is pretty much aware of all sorts of supernatural. Knows how to fend against most types of supernatural. Doesn’t mean you should get into fights, though. A human is still a human. You may have strong blood - magic, whatever you wanna call it. But you still have human weaknesses. A supernatural such as a werewolf could probably throw you across the room if it wanted to.

Because of your blood, you’re often protected - sheltered even, by your family. As the summer approaches, you take a vacation to a nice town - located all by a lake. This might be your time for some alone time, at last.
Little do you know - in an area that was supposedly cleared of Mers, with no sightings for at least two centuries - a colony of them still remain…

I’m in for some monster on human romance featuring a new character of mine, Kailani. If it isn’t clear, I’d prefer to be the Mer, while you are the human with ‘special blood’, aka you are basically a walking lamp while all the supernaturals are moths. Vicious moths. Or just curious ones. Not all supernatural want to eat you - some just find the idea of being near you fulfilling.

As Kailani is straight, you will be needing a lady for this RP. Don’t force romance, just see how it runs.

Here’s the rules.

1. As usual - swearing allowed, as well as blood and violence. There will be a time and place for everything, though.
2. In the event of a fight, let’s not auto hit here, but do not dodge everything, either.
3. Try to have decent writing skills. I can accept some mistakes, but I will be asking for a writing sample. Ask before you join.
4. In addition, no one liners.
5. Be mature - silly moments are fine, but I’d prefer an overall mature RPer for this.
6. We do be ok with smut here but I can’t guarantee it will be written, so keep that in mind.
7. I am allowed to deny you. Nothing personal of course- it might be that your style isn’t what I’m looking for.

"The creature kept its gaze on the hunter, its instincts screaming for it to run away as fast and as far as possible yet curiosity kept it in place. The autumn leaves and the evening sun hid it well from the hunter's eyes, so as long as it remained still, it wouldn't be noticed.

There were probably only a couple of hours left before dark, and the activity of the critters seemed to intensify; this area was most likely home to many nocturnal creatures - that was one reasonable explanation for it. As shadows grew longer, countless eyes appeared from place to place, all watching the strange intruder tresspassing in their territory. Eyes of various shapes and sizes, all shining like tiny pairs of fireflies, with their bodies hidden away; yet none of these eyes seemed to carry any malevolent intent. In fact, they seemed to be slightly fearful of the man walking around slowly and almost soundless - something in these creatures knew this newcomer was not to be messed around with.

The great creature exhaled softly through its moist nostrils, deciding the human had other business to attend to and lowered its head to graze the grass near its feet. Little did it know that the subtle movement of its antlers lowering caught the attention of the man."

Sexuality: Straight, most likely though no boy dares get too close to her

Appearance: Thin, pretty graceful with a flat chest, pastel green wavy hair reaching her waist, usually tied up in a messy braid. Her eyes are dark violet and her skin tone is pale peach.

Clothing: Whatever she feels comfortable in, usually T shirts and long pants at home, but on special occasions she sometimes wears light colored dresses, most of the time accompanied by a large straw hat.

Personality: Initially reserved and lacking confidence, she can prove herself to be a very strong willed individual after having several odd encounters. Dutiful, kind and considerate, she has a tendency to be impulsive in her actions and often feels guilty when she does something wrong, though her attempts to rectify matters are usually disastrous. She's a compassionate person and often tries to help others, regardless of who they are.

Skills: Really quick thinker, has a somewhat level of knowledge in self defense, is pretty well informed when it comes to supernatural creatures given she acts like a magnet to them, recently she got into trying to brew potions - but usually these have anything but the desired effect.

Hobbies: Gardening (it sometimes ends in disaster when she tries a new substance on them), sewing, reading a good book, going out in nature and cooking

Background: Growing up, she was very sheltered by her family, especially since the very first encounter she had with the supernatural was before she was even one year old. Most of the time she permanently had someone watch her just to make sure she would not be attacked by anything. Her family is pretty damn well prepared because of this, to the point where some of them earned a reputation as something like a Beast Hunter.

Opinion on Supernatural: At this point she's no longer scared or too affected by it, as it has become a normal thing in her life. Ever since she was young, she encountered various creatures that were out for her, but she remains vigilant for creatures she has not encountered yet, studying them in advance just to be prepared in case she does eventually come across them.

Opinion on Family: She is thankful of the protection she is given by her family, though she finds the restrictions regarding going out a bit too annoying. No person can stay indoors for too long, and thus she usually has someone to go out with her in case something happens. She's perfectly fine with about 85% of all the safety rules imposed to her, but the other 15% are bound to annoy her whenever they are brought up.

Other:

1. She likes ham a lot, or meat in general - she is known to walk down to the fridge and eat it as a small snack. Whenever she's annoyed, she can be found somewhere in the house with a ham slice in her mouth - (she has that emotional eating thing going on for her)
2. She likes cats, but due to her situation she never really had one.
3. She likes murder investigation series
