Eddie started the night off bored as usual. Standing at his post looking again and again at the names on the list. He always had it memorized by midnight.
"Ahem." Kasper tried to catch the bouncers attention. His friends giggled behind him, and he turned around to give them a glare. He then turned back to the man. "Hello."
“Hi.” Eddie stared him down. “Name?”
"Um," Kasper said nervously, sounding like a dumbass. "Kasper. Kasper Charles. I should be on the list," he said, knowing very well that neither he nor his friends behind him were on the list.
Eddie huffed. “Well I don’t see your name but…I may be able to be convinced to let you in.”
A cascade of laughter came from Kasper's friends. He shushed them, trying his very best to seem serious in front of the bouncer. "That's, um, that's weird," he said. "I'm pretty sure my name should be on there. But," he lowered his voice and took a step closer, looking around. "If it isn't… what more exactly would I have to do to convince you to let us in?"
He considered this. “I’m a collector. Not of any specific things but a collector nonetheless. Bring me something worth collecting and I’ll let you in.”
Kasper turned to his friends. "Guys, he wants something. Like, to collect. Do we have anything?"
A girl in the back, with green streaks in her blonde hair, answered. "This, maybe?" She picked up an old book from her purse. "I found it when I was throwing stuff out of my room yesterday, I don't really want it." She handed Kasper the book.
"Thanks, Kayla." Kasper took it and showed it to the bouncer. "Could this be enough?"
Eddie took the book and inspected it carefully. “Quite old. Book of Poetry. Hmmm… good enough. In you go.”
"Really?" Kasper was surprised. He had definitely not thought that getting in would be this easy, being underaged and all. "I mean, cool. Thanks." He gave his friends a big smile of victory as they entered.
