Killian shifted in his bed, letting out a quiet grumble before his eyes began opening up. He tried to forcefully keep his light blue eyes shut, and he rolled over so that his face was planted on his pillow. That position got uncomfortable quickly, so he rolled over again, subsequently falling off the bed as a whole. Thankfully his house was carpeted, so he couldn't hurt his head on anything besides his nightstand- which he thankfully didn't bump into on his journey onto the ground. He sat up, rubbing his eyes. This was how all his mornings went, like it or not.
"Whaโฆ What time is itโฆ?" the male uttered under shallow breaths as he reached for his phone to check way day it was. Once he figured it out, he sighed, regaining his once lost composure. He stood up carefully, propping his phone against his alarm clock. He headed to his closet and changed into a simple color-block hoodie and a pair of black jeans. Once he got changed fully, he picked his phone back up after heading back to the nightstand, and took a quick picture of himself, uploading it online with a caption that said 'morning vibes โจ,' although he wasn't one to really upload selfies. When he did, they normally flopped, but Killian here was willing to bet on those odds.
Killian let out a quick grunt before checking his messages to see if he'd gotten any new messages overnight- which was normally the case. He didn't have much of a presence online, sure, but he did end up getting quite a few DMs from either people following his account or some completely randos who had no idea what they were doing on his account in the first place but took up conversation with him. Of course, Killian always replied, wanting to give off good first impressions so that he didn't spook anyone away. He opened a few new messages he'd received, reading through them all and thinking of replies for each one.
(.-.)
Phoenix hadn't meant to send that message.
Well, that was a lie, he supposed.
It had started with his mum pestering him to find a girlfriend, and ended in him sending a dry message to the first guy he saw on his feed.
NIXS0N
hey
In retrospective, it was dumb. The message was weird and unprompted. Looking through his account, his persona was hard, snarky, definitely not the type to try flirt with the first person in arms reach.
He contemplated deleting the message, blocking this "Squid" person, but he kind of wanted to see what would happen first.
And with that dangerous thought, he cast his phone aside and went searching for something to eat.
Killian suddenly received a message; it was a simple greeting, but nonetheless, it was a breath of fresh air. All his other DMs had been sifted through to the point of exhaustion. Killian replied to the message with careful haste, the careful part being him trying to hide the fact that he was one to reply impulsively quick.

ayy

He wasn't normally one for replies this casual upon first meeting someone, but it was whatever- at least to him. He didn't really care for putting immense effort into a reply, so hey, why not go without the effort for once, right?
The sudden notification startled him, almost sending his sandwich into his lungs. The message was simple, dry; he didn't really know what to say back.
NIXS0N
do you play Minecraft?
Killian heard the blip of the notification and read the message. He thought up another short reply since he clearly wasn't one for thought-out messages.
-
_squid
hell yeah, i do!
"Who are you chatting up now?"
Phoenix almost lost his balance as his chair shifted. His roommate stood over him, despite the clear height difference between them.
"No one, get lost." He replied, kicking back at him.
"Awwe, lil' Phe all shy?"
"Memphis I will fucking mame you."
Memphis huffed, pushing back from the chair,
"You never share with me anymore." he pulled what could only be described as that one disappointed emoji face.
Phoenix laughed, grunting a small 'piss off' as the smaller shuffled away
NIXS0N
cool, me too
Killian had been beginning to prepare his breakfast as he waited for the next notification blip. He got out some eggs as well as some bacon, and just went he set both items down, he got the blip. He grabbed his phone swiftly, not even realizing he'd done it, nor why he was so excited to talk to this mere stranger, but he found himself excited nonetheless.

NIXS0N
Yeah, maybe. I have a server with my friends, I'll ask if you can jump on.
_squid

"God, that sounds so cheesy," Killian uttered to himself, setting his phone down, a quiet groan following suit. "Whatever. I guess it does fit pretty accurately.
A phone call broke him from his trance of staring blankly at his text thread
"Oi."
The voice was one he'd never escape, just like his own but slightly more annoying,
"What do you want, Kevin?"
Don't get him wrong, he loved his brother, but god was he a pain in the ass,
"Mum told me to tell you to bring you girlfriend or whatever to dinner in like a week."
