It was Geo and Malicites birthday. Mal, Geo’s younger brother, was almost 15, And Geo was turning 17. Geo thought, even if mom wasn't here to see this, she would have been so happy to see her babies grow up. Geo smiles at his younger brother, hugging him from behind. “Hey big guy. Excited?” He asked, smiling.
Mal laughs and nods, “Hell yeah. I'll kick your ass once I’m as tall as you. Jerkwad.” He playfully punches Geo.
Geo laughs, “You could try.”
Mal smirks, “Bet.”
Lucifer, the boy's father, laughed and smiled, “Okay boys, knock it off. Come on.”
Geo huffs, smirking at Mal, and then smiling at his father, “Okay Padre.” He and his younger brother walked over to their father, smiling. Geo’s boyfriend, Damian, had already been there and wished Geo a happy birthday. Along with giving him plenty of hugs and kisses along the way. Geo had enjoyed how respectful Damian was of him. Even when he let the family have their time together.
Mal interrupted Geo’s thoughts with a small box, “Happy birthday, ya big nerd.”
Geo huffed a laugh and smirks, taking the box. “Thanks kiddo.” He jokes, opening the box and gasping. A silver locket sat inside the box, the family initial, A, written on it in fancy lettering. “Oh my gods-” Geo mutters.
Mal smirks, “Quit gawking and look inside the thing.”
Geo smiles, opening the locket to reveal a picture of the whole family, even mom was in the picture. Geo teared up slightly, “Thank’s Mal…” He mutters, putting the necklace on.
Mal smirks, “I gotta give you another gift, now hold up.” He smiles and pulls out a pocket knife. “Made it myself…”
Geo gasps, looking at the designs on the blade as he flipped it open. “Mal I-”
Mal huffs, “Now don’t get all mushy with me.” He smiles, hugging Geo.
Geo hugs back, smiling brightly. “Thanks bro…”
“Hey don’t mention it.” Mal smiles, pulling back.
Geo smiles, grabbing a box for Mal, “I made it…I knew you liked necklaces…”
Mal opens the box and huffs, “Oh my god- how the hell did you make this?!” he smiles, pulling out a necklace with Mal’s name on it.
Geo smiles, shrugging, “Wasn’t that hard.”
Mal huffs, “Showoff.”
Geo smirks, “Say’s the knife maker.”
“Hey you make them too!”
Lucifer chuckles, “Alright boys…relax.”
Geo smiles, punching Mal in the shoulder.
Mal smirks and opens his mouth to say something, but was interrupted by a hiss and the smell of gasoline.
Lucifer pauses, frowning as he looks around. He then quickly grabbed the boys and teleported them outside. Or so he thought. Somehow, Malachite didn’t teleport with them, still inside the building as a huge explosion went off. Half of the castle falling in on itself.
Geo screamed, running back inside to save his brother. “MAL!! MAL WHERE ARE YOU!” He looked around in the flames, boards falling down in Geo’s path. “MALACHITE!!”
A yelp was heard not too far away, and Geo ran to where he heard the sound, seeing his brother being pinned by boards, covered in blood. “Ge…”
Geo gasped, rushing to try to get the boards off his brother and failing. “NO! PLEASE!” He grabbed his brother, trying to pull him out and teleport, but somehow, it didn’t work. Geo whined, coughing as the smoke started to fill his lungs.
Mal shakes his head, “Go…take…care of…padre…okay…?”
Geo pauses, staring at his brother. “No…nonono please! MAL!” Tears fell down Geo’s face as he tried harder to get his brother.
Mal frowns, grabbing Geo’s arm, “I love you…” He mutters.
Geo frowns, “Please…please…Mal please I love you too much please!”
Mal pushes Geo back with inhuman strength, making him fly backwards back to the entrance doors. Just as that happened, another giant explosion went off. Flames flew over Geo’s whole left side, scorching his skin. The smell of burnt flesh and gasoline filled Geo’s nose. Black filled Geo’s vision, and he went completely limp, losing all consciousness.
After a while, he started to wake up again, Lucifer, and a few other men and women by his side. He looked around, a ringing in his ears. “Mal…” He rasped.
Lucifer frowns, tears falling down his face.
Geo looked to the rubble of the castle, seeing a few people surrounding a small area. Geo sat up, forgetting about the pain and rushed over to the people, stumbling and almost falling. He pushed his way through the people and gasped. Lying there, buried under the rubble, was a very bloody, burnt and disheveled Mal. The whole right side of his face had been burnt off, now showing some of the skill. The right side of his mouth had been torn, making him look like he had also been attacked. A huge metal beam protruded through the boys stomach, while a wooden plank had fallen to impale his neck. Geo stared in horror, then collapsed onto his knees, screaming in grief. He called for his brother to wake up, but seemingly, this never worked. Geo tried to reach over to his brother, tears clouding his eyes and falling down his face. The tears irritating the burns on his skin. Just as he was about to touch his little brother’s burnt hand, when he blacked out and collapsed.
What seemed like only a dream, Geo yelped, quickly sitting up and screaming. Though his lungs felt tight and heavy, as if he had swallowed weights. Lucifer was right beside his bed, a worried look on his face as he helped his son lay back down.
Geo looked up at his father, “Mal…” he muttered.
Lucifer sighs and closes his eyes, taking Geo’s hand and holding it up to his forehead.
Geo immediately knew what this meant, and let out a cry of despair. His little brother had died.
And he didn’t save him…
But…there was something in his right hand.
A necklace that had the words “Malachite” in beautiful writing, and a burnt note that read in Italian,
“I love you.”
