Pax stepped back. Whatever he was expecting, it wasn't that. "Wh-what does that mean?"
M turned, his hair casting ominous shadows across his eyes and face, making him look gaunt, haughty and older. "It means she's incredibly dangerous."
"How?"
"A water Elementalist who can kill demons, and a DEMON? She's lucky she didn't blow up!"
(lol she's lucky she didnt blow up)
(continue)
"What about all of their other kids? They didn't blow up!"
"Xanthe wasn't a hybrid of a demon then! It's because of those damn Gods that we're in this mess!"
"M! Please, calm down, it wasn't the Gods' fault! If North has lived this long, she's bound to live as long as her parents!"
(contiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinueeeeeeeeeee)
(grrrr i hate typing it's awkwaaard)
"Yes, they were destined to live for a much longer time! It all leads back to them! Open your eyes!"
"My eyes are open, M! It's just you're too blind to see the truth! You always have been!"
"What is the truth, then, Pax?" M's voice had fallen softly and suddenly.
"You're just mad because the Gods have taken so much away from you. But now you have to realize that it's because of them, we're here. That I'm here." He stepped forward and took M's hands. "Please. Calm down. Open your eyes."
(con tin ue)
(gRRRRRR sTAHP MAKING ME WRITE I WANNA BE A LAZY BEAN GAwd [i don't care lol])
M sighed and hugged him back. "I still don't understand the mentality, though. Why-"
"It's because humankind needs something stronger than themselves to attach to." Pax interrupted calmly. "Shapeshifters are told this. As a Mind Reader, M, I am disappointed to hear that you haven't been told the same."
North shifted back into human form behind M. There was disbelief in her eyes as she stared at him, her head slightly tilted.
M started and stumbled back, pushing Pax away. "North!"
Pax has an 'Oh shit' look written all over his face.
"What am I?" She asked, her voice wobbling slightly.
M's face slackened with relief. "You are the daughter of two amazing people. They would be proud of you." M reached out and put a hand on her shoulder.
North looked down at M's hand, saying nothing.
"North… I'm sorry, I only just found out a couple weeks ago…" M trailed off helplessly. He didn't want to read her thoughts right now, he was afraid what he'd find.
North opened her mouth and closed it again. Everything is falling apart around me M..except for you. How do you still love me? I don't even love me.
M hugged her. Because not only do I love you like a father that you have lost for Cameron, I love you like a friend I've lost in Xanthe and Cameron. Nothing will stop me from loving you.
North hugged him back with shaking arms.
It's okay. You won't lose Pax and I. We're here for you until the end.
I wish it would come sooner. She thought, tears flowing steadily down her face.
Unfortunately, it can't. I wish I could tell you different, but you're the continuance of the Metzler (Cameron's surname) family. It's not as bad as it can get, though, love. Just remember that. He squeezed her.
Does it mean anything? Being Cameron and Xanthe's daughter?
