@thelogicofkings

hello! i’m looking for a o/o roleplay based on the following plot:

Character A is a merperson that was accidentally ensnared in an old fishing net. Washing up on the beach – half dead from a bad infection – Character A is found by Character B, a marine biologist who has been looking for sea turtle nesting sites. Character B takes Character A back to the lab, determined to save their life, and also to research what Character A is.

i’d prefer to play character a, but i’m down for anything! i’m ok with any ship pairing but gxg is preferable.

comment below if you’re interested <3

Cass was just minding her business. That’s all. Her eyes day had been quite normal up to that point, well, relatively at least. She had attended to her small seaweed garden. The gold algae was doing especially well, perhaps due to the seasonal warmth of the water. Either way, the garden had glistened in the daylight, filling her heart with pride. After a couple minutes of admiring her handiwork, she had gone closer to the surface to watch the fish and other animals go about their business. An especially large school swam towards her, swarming. Panicked.

Cass’ eyebrows furrowed at the scene. She swam over to the school, but none stopped their panic to take interest in her. Odd. A ripple began to make its way overhead, at the real surface of the water. She cocked her head at the new patterns in the water it was making, unable to identify the source. She began to swim away to get a better vantage point, but she was stopped by a mysterious force. It came at her from all sides, and she felt the swarm of fish hitting against her body. Despite her tries to calm them down, they didn’t, and the whole situation became even more chaotic as they were pulled to the surface.

She decided to try and rip her way out of this… bag-type thing before it was too late. As she turned to find a weak point in the material, she caught sight of a dark grey boat in the water. It was easy to identify; she’d seen many of them in her years. But this specific one struck fear into her heart. This one had actually trapped her. So, Cass scrambled to rip a hole in the material. She was only half-successful. As a last ditch effort, she tried to swim towards the top of the netting. She was so close to escaping, before the thing was drawn out of the water.

Cass’ back hit something sharp and metal, and pain surged through her body down to her tail and up to her head. She let out a small yell of pain before pushing the last of herself out of the opening and down the side of the net. It saddened her to see the fish be taken away by some greedy humans, but she was direly hurt. She had to go. Some of the humans on the ship yelled words she couldn’t comprehend before she dived back down into the water. She needed somewhere to rest, away from others. But she didn’t have it in her to swim. In fact, she was so low on energy that…. that she…. she blacked out.

Cass didn’t remember much, but the first thing that registered was that she was on the shore. Which meant possible human interaction. Exciting, but not what she needed at the moment. She attempted to inspect her wound. It was gnarly at this point, and she almost passed out again from looking at it. Black spots dotted her vision. She laid back down on the soft sands below her, latching onto the surf lapping at her tail and praying that no one was on the beach. She didn’t know if she could handle it. Her eyes fluttered open and shut, barely hanging on.

(sorry i took so long to reply, i fell asleep)

Penny had a good feeling about today. She had gotten all of her necessary gear together in her favorite blue backpack, ready to seize the day. She set her camera carefully on her passenger seat as she turned on her jeep and drove to the beach. It wasn’t far from her current lab, but she wanted to be there as soon as possible. As soon as she arrived, she turned off the car and slung the backpack over her shoulders. She placed the camera around her neck with a grin.

The day was perfect; clear sky, warm but not sweltering heat. She had already put on plenty of sunscreen, because she knew if she didn’t her complexion would match a lobster’s. She smiled to herself, excited as she locked her jeep and put the keys in her pocket. She walked onto the sand, feeling the grainy texture under her sneakers.

As quietly and carefully as she could, she started down the beach, scanning the sand for sea turtles or their nests. She made extra sure not to step on any animals, so she moved slowly. Penny was glad that she had put her hair up in a messy bun, otherwise it would have been soaking up heat in a sweaty mess on her back. She clutched her camera, waiting for something interesting. But no sea turtles. Yet.

Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed something that had previously been too far away for her to really see. It looked like a beached dolphin or something, though it was still a good distance away. It was hard to tell for sure. But it appeared to be bleeding. Penny’s eyes widened as she turned towards the creature, studying it. The sea turtles could wait.

She hurried across the sand (well, as much as she could with the camera and her careful way of not stepping on anything). As she got closer, the creature looked less like a beached dolphin and more like a human girl playing dress up. That was not something that Penny saw every day. Once she was close to the creature, it looked—inexplicably—like a mermaid. But those didn’t exist…

Penny stared for a moment before she noticed that the girl—whatever she was—was bleeding. A lot. She looked very much not okay. Penny knew that she had to do something. “Oh my god,” she exclaimed. “Are you okay? Do you need help? Can you hear me?” She bit her lip to stop herself from asking even more questions. She was probably freaking the girl out already, if she was even awake.

(apologies for not replying sooner! school got a bit busy for me.)

The world was still a bit blurry to Cass. She could see blue sky above, some clouds floating in the distance. The black spots didn’t help her much as she attempted to get her bearings. Faintly, she heard something moving towards her across the sand. Normally, she would move down the shore and back into the water to preserve some kind of secrecy. But she physically didn’t have the energy to move like that.

Cass flinched when she heard a voice, presumably coming from the thing that had been moving towards her. It was loud, panicked, and Cass flinched a bit when it spoke. She wasn’t ready for questions. Slowly, she moved an arm in front of her eyes to block out the bright sunlight, but she recognized the figure above her as a human. That… that wasn’t good. They were the only things that she knew she was not supposed to interact with. But she was kind of desperate at this point. She was getting weaker by the minute, and maybe this human could help.

“I can… I can hear you, alright,” she muttered with a cough. “I think I might need a little help, or something. I heal fast… Just, patch it up or something…” She was growing weaker by the seconds. But she’d never admit that. Especially to a human she had never met. She tried to prop herself up on her elbows, but it was in vain as she fell right back in the sand.

@MusicElle-is-here

(it’s okay, i get it)

Penny thought quickly. She only had a first aid kit with her currently, and that would only help so much. She had more useful bandages and medicine at her lab, but that meant that she’d either have to take a trip there and back—which might use up precious minutes—or bring the mermaid with her. If she did the latter, if would hurt her arms (she wasn’t exactly the strongest) and probably get blood all over her lab. But the lab was almost guaranteed to be empty right now, so it might be her best bet.

“Okay, I’ll get you out of here,” Penny told her. “We’ll take have to take a trip to my lab. That’s where all of my medical supplies are. Then after you’ve healed we can come back and everything will be fixed!” She knew that moving bleeding people wasn’t always a good idea and had to be done carefully, so Penny improvised, putting her arms underneath the mermaid. Good thing she had actually been going to the gym recently.

@thelogicofkings

Cass moved her arm for a moment to look the girl in the eye. “I dunno if that’s a good idea… I’ve heard about your…your…” Her voice was a bit shaky and grew quieter by the moment. She didn’t particularly want to be leaving proximity of the one place she had called home all her life. But she was dying. Really dying. But there wasn’t any guarantee that she would survive outside of the water, either. It was a lose, lose situation really. She’d be fine in the water. Yeah maybe if she just inched down the shore and…

And she was being picked up in this mysterious human’s arms. Cass’ eyes widened a bit as she was picked up, not used to the feeling. She had never really been suspended in the air, if she could even call this that. Perhaps she would enjoy it more if she wasn’t critically injured. Lazily, one of her arms slung around the shoulders of the human, and she rested her head on her outstretched arm. She could have fought this whole thing, but her energy was severely lacking. “How far away is this… lab thing?” she asked.

@MusicElle-is-here

“Not far,” Penny said, still relatively cheerful. It was only partially a face she was putting on for the mermaid. She hated worrying people, especially since her older sister could be a horrible worrywart herself. “Only a couple minutes once we get to my car.” She hurried across the sand much quicker than before, still being careful, but less so.

They reached the Jeep soon, and Penny managed to unlock it and set the mermaid down in the back seat gently without dropping her (though she did come close once or twice). She shut the door and got in the driver’s seat, giving the girl an apologetic smile. “Nearly there.”

She turned on the car and drove as fast as she could without speeding (too much), arriving at the lab in only a couple of minutes.

@thelogicofkings

“Alright…” Cass muttered. She figured she shoukd thank this human, her savior, really, but she was more focused on staying awake through this whole ordeal. It wasn’t great that her day was ruined— if not for that forsaken ship, she could still be tending to her garden peacefully. She wouldn’t have had to interact with a human in any way, unless she really wanted to. This was just… messy.

It was weird being out of water for so long, too. Cass still breathed and everything, but it was more effort to do so. Being dry was a strange feeling for her, especially this far away from the water. Her hands gripped the top of the car seats as she waited for them to leave. To distract herself, her eyes scanned the contraption around her. This was… odd. What were the weird straps for? And the wheel up front? What about the clear border at the front of it—

Suddenly, the car began to race off. Cass gripped the seats tighter, and her eyes widened. What. The. Hell? She had never moved this fast before underwater, never mind on land. Sure, there was a rush to get wherever they were going, but Cass didn’t know if it was worth this. It was the most she could do not to scream or throw up or pass out completely.

@MusicElle-is-here

Once they arrived, Penny turned off the car and opened the back door, doing her best to get the mermaid out gently. Penny noted that she looked a bit carsick, before realizing that she would have no idea what a car even was. Maybe it was really disorienting for her. She pursed her lips as she worked out a way to get the mermaid out safely. Her arms were already aching, but she didn't have to go very far. Luckily, she'd left the gate at the back unlocked, so she could get to the outdoor pool with relative ease. She laboriously carried the mermaid there, opening the door with her hip (which, thankfully, worked). She gently set her down on a spot of grass near the pool, unsure whether putting her back in the water right now was a good idea.

"I'm going to look for some medical supplies, so I'll be gone for a couple of minutes," Penny informed her. "Before I leave, do you need to be moved into the water or can you last a few more minutes on the ground?"

@thelogicofkings

Cass was glad to be stationary for the first time after the fast movement. Adventure was not normally her thing. And this was… a lot. The black dots clogged her vision more than ever. The back of her throat burned like crazy. The pain in her midriff heightened. Water would be great. But the girl already looked so stressed, all due to Cass, and she didn’t want to cause more trouble. She could put up with the excruciating pain and dehydration for a few more minutes right? Sure.

“Yeah… I’ll be fine. Just move quick?” Cass asked with a grimace. She surveyed the land around her for a moment, and her eyes locked on the pool. She could probably manage the crawl. Once the girl had gone, she started inching her way over to the pool, wanting to feel the coolness of the water on her fingertips, in her lungs. After a minute or two, she got to the point where she could dunk up to her fingernail beds in water. It would have to be enough until the human got back.

@MusicElle-is-here

Penny rifled around in her lab, searching for the stuff that she would need. Should she get what she normally used for sea creatures or for humans? She shook her head, assuming that either one would work as long as she was fast. The mermaid obviously needed something and soon. She managed to find some bandages, gauze, and a few other useful things, hurrying back to find the mermaid with her fingertips in the water. Penny should have just carried her the rest of the way; the poor mermaid obviously needed water.
She set down the medical supplies and lowered the mermaid into the water, being careful not to hurt her further. Then she took another look at the mermaid's wound.
