Axel glanced at the nieghboring creatures with a small frown. He’d never interacted with them before- he never really cared enough to talk to anyone. Axel leaned against the glass of his cage, staring out. It would only be a matter of time before children and other zoo-goers would filter in.
Mamoru plucked a leaf from a branch and placed it on his head, shifting smoothly into a human being– with some decent clothes.
He dropped down and wandered about, kicking a stone or pine cone here or there. I've never been so deep in boredom…
Before the nerves, disgust and anxiety could take over, Tori waded into the deepest part of her ‘pool’ where she was to sit under the water. “It’s just a few hours,” she mumbled to herself as the small ripples and bits of sunlight danced over her head, “you can do this.” After a few minutes of sitting in silence with her eyes closed, she rubbed the putrid cement that covered the base of her ‘pool’ with her hands. Then she relaxed her other body parts and let the water do what it pleased with her barely clothed body for the little amount of time she had left before she was to be dissected by the stares of onlookers.
He sat and twiddled with a hangnail he managed to spawn on his left hand. Mamoru chilled for a little bit, but in reality, his heart was spazzing in harsh beats. I can't take this captivity anymore…
The first of the people who filtered in was a pair of twins- eyes as wide as saucers as they ran up to his exhibit. Axel curled his wings around himself, moving to the back corner of the cage. The children peered in his exhibit, trying to get the best look at him. He just glared, and the kids moved on not a moment later to the nearby shapeshifter.
Mamoru glared back. What do these children want? He did want to make some effort to make them happy, but with the state he was in, that'd be no fun.
He plucked another leaf from the tree, twirling it through his fingers and considering if he should change or not. These people are so greedy for happiness….
She shifted into her horse-esque form to try and hide her nearly nude body from the burning eyes of strangers and swam around her pool. However, as there was a stair case following the glass on one side of her pool, the people easily followed her.
Everyone’s look upon Mamoru’s cage was a relative dissapointment, considering they didn’t want to spend money on seeing a normal human being— as he was formed then.
People passed him by like no one’s business. They didn’t want to see a man in his mid-twenties, instead they wanted the naked raccoon dog human they awed at. I wish I could get out somehow…. but only if I knew….
(Could we timeskip to the end of the day- when a certain employee forgot to lock some certain enclosures?)
(Sure. But Mamoru could just…. Or yeah. Sure.)
(Or Mamoru could do his thing, whatever you want)
(Nah I was gonna say 'he could just open the door to the enclosure, lol' but I guess not if the keep it locked.)
(Yo gurl could probs break that glass, but whatever ye wants)
(How about we timeskip to the end of the day when the zoo is closed, and then they break out with whatever way?)
Eventually, the zoo closed and the people filtered out. Axel finally let his wings uncurled, shoulders sagging with mental exhaustion. He surely didn’t like being inspected, but he hated not being able to fly in his too small enclosure. He leaned against the wall, letting out a tired sigh when he leaned against the cage door. One moment, he had been leaning against the ‘locked’ door, the next he was tumbling backwards as the door swung open from behind him.
Tori’s horse head swiftly turned as she heard the creak of a door opening and the sound of a body hitting the floor. Her eyes widened and her ears pricked forward as she saw the freed Illyrian.
Axel sat there, breathing for a second. This couldn’t be real. He immediately stood, stretching his wings wide. I’m free… I’m free… Axel could… leave. He could just leave this wretched place.
Mamoru was sleeping comfortably in the tree as a bear when the zookeeper left.
He expected to hear the click of the door as he closed it, but there was nothing. Nothing….
The disturbance woke him up, and he tumbled out of the tree, rolling up into an upright walking human, similar to the one he was earlier that day. What? Just going to let me free?? He grabbed a leaf on his way out, soon shifting into a zookeeper for camouflage.
It’s now or never, Tori thought as watched the bear-man walk away. She turned around and started kicking at the glass, but it wouldn’t budge. She kicked again, but to no avail. Letting out an equine scream of frustration, she waded into the deepest part of the water and started kicking there. She kicked, and kicked, and kicked before the glass finally gave way and the water swept her out of the enclosure and onto more cement. She stood up and shook off the water before changing into her human for, jogging up the stairs and running after those ahead of her. “Wait for me,” she cried.
(Can we like change the title of this thing??? I’ll reply soon, too… I promise….)
Axel tensed, siphons glimmering slightly as he turned, "Who are you?" He questioned, wings flaring slightly. I need to get out of here when I have the chance… He debated using his powers, but didn't want to draw any more attention.
Mamoru approached the winged person, and he was afraid to change back into his true form— regarding his nakedness. “I mean no harm…” He held out a hand, quickly using the leaf he had in his hand to form into the other default human he was hours earlier. “I am merely a shapeshifter….”
Axel stepped away swiftly, not liking to be near anyone. I need to get out of here… "Who are you?" He repeated defensively.
