Scarlet almost laughed and it took all of her training to force it down. She saw through the politeness. She didn’t think this girl was here to cause trouble, but she didn’t relax her grip on her sword. “What’s your purpose here, ma’am?”
"I'm not quite sure sir." She said, still smiling politely.
“I only have one question then, why is a nice girl like you carrying around a sword? It’s clear you were raised in some upper class family that taught you good manners. So why are you here all alone?” She questioned, an eyebrow raised in suspicion.
"You'd get sick of it after spending your life in it too." She said, tuning to walk away."
She sighed “now wait a minute! I’m not going to take you back to wherever you ran away from but I am in charge of keeping this city safe. So if you leave I’m going to have to follow you. And neither of us want that ma’am.”
"Oh, is something happening today?" She asked, tilting her head to the side
“I’m just doing my job ma’am. I’m on patrol no matter what day it is. And since I’m a kind gentleman I’ll answer your question, no, nothing is happening today.”
She nodded. "Well, I'm not leaving town yet, if it eases your worries."
“If you’re not going to cause any problems. I really can’t hold you. But I do have a recommendation, keep the hood down, it actually does wonders to make you less noticeable.”
"I can't take risks, sir." She said simply, putting her hood up and walking away again.
She sighed but let her go, she hoped the girl would be okay. That girl was definitely on the run from someone.
She smiled, turning onto a busy street.
Scarlet quickly rejoined the rest of her group. Everything seemed to be going without incident. It was quiet, too quiet. But maybe she was just being paranoid.
She walked along, waving around a few familiar faces.
