You had all been led into the room of the dingy church basement by your social workers, all wolves like you, most of them loners, but some in a pack. They kept telling you this would be a good thing, but as you surveyed the room, slowly filling up with kids, they were all wolves, each with a different scent. The scents muddled uncomfortably, making one kid, who was here before everyone else, wrinkle their nose.
The woman standing behind the kid who wrinkled their nose smiled widely, a hint of feral coming from her sharp-toothed smile, but nothing enough to worry about it. "Hi y'all! I'm Mary, I'll be the coordinator for this whole shindig! Looks like we have a lot of new faces today!"

Raysu huffs derisively at this woman's attitude.

She positively reeked of fake cheer, and the smile only added to the fakeness of it.

She never even wanted to be there. She'd been perfectly fine on her own until then, she'd be perfectly fine on her own now too.

But she'd been forced into this, and there was no arguing with the council.

So here she was, sitting with one leg crossed over the other, glaring at any male that decided she looked like an interesting prospect until they went away.

The same was the case with girls, though it may have been just a smidge less hostile. Not that anybody would be able to tell.

Ronni kept her eyes down as Tanya walked her in. The social worker gently encouraged her towards a seat, and Ronni glanced up at her with a look that said it all, the scents of hesitance and irritation rolling off her in waves.
Do I have to?
Tanya nodded quickly, a small smile on her face. "I'll be back to pick you up." She touched Ronni's shoulder gently, made eye contact with Mary, and whisked back out the door.

Ronni sat down slowly, the reality of being alone in the situation sinking in.
Mary, the moderator, smelled… more stable than the rest of the people in the room, but like she was intentionally trying to cover her real feelings.
There was a boy grimacing in obvious olfactory overload, and Ronni didn't disagree with him. The mix of fear, anger, hurt, irritation, and boredom in the room was a sour tang that she could almost taste.
There was a big girl a couple chairs away who looked like hatred, and smelled like she was ready to tear throats out. Ronni made a mental note not to make eye contact.

She sat there quietly, trying to make herself small and unseen, staring mostly at the floor but also managing to keep tabs on the other people in the room.

Aspen wrinkled their nose again, still overwhelmed with the smell. They didn't like the mix of everyone in the same room, he was used to one smell or two at a time, not what felt like hundreds. They had to bite back a snarl when someone sat too close to them, but managed to keep it inside, only letting out a small grumble that could've been excused as a complaint at being here. They pulled on Mary's sleeve, her leaning down so they could whisper something in her ear.
"Do I really have to do this? I'm fine on my own, why'd the council pull this crap?" They muttered, looking forlornly out the window like the inside itself was out to get them.
Mary just pat their shoulder and smiled again, this time a genuine one.
"It'll be fine kiddo."

Raysu sniffs the air, two scents standing out to her: one, distressed by all the new smells - understandable, the place reeked of fear and anxiety - and another, the source of roughly half the fear and anxiety she was smelling.

She narrows her eyes as she tracks the smell, her eyes narrowing as she focuse on the one that smelled of fear.

Ah, it's her that's making the room smell so damn uncomfortable. she thinks.

She looks away, towards the other, and pauses, hackles raising in distress.

Is it. . .? No, I killed him. It's just someone that looks like him. . . she thinks, trying to reassure herself.

Ronni noted the big girl glare at her for a moment, and realized she probably wasn't helping the smell in the room, though it had been rank with sour smells when she walked in already.
She closed her eyes for a moment, did the mental exercise of putting the bricks in place, and walled herself off behind the impenetrable mask of neutrality that had become so second nature to her.
When she opened her eyes, she was locked-down. Completely neutral. Smelling of no particular strong emotion, once the tang of anxiety wore off.
This wasn't her favorite, but it was safe.

The twins sat huddled together, making sure they were far away from everyone else. The mix of scents, from the mass of bodies grouped together to the dingy walls and floor, was nauseating. Midnight was biting her arm, a small trail of blood running over her skin. This, unfortunately, only added to the heavy smells. Twilight was braiding his sister's hair, quietly looking over the others and studying them, trying to see if he could identify any threats. The coordinator's forced energy definitely made him want to fight her, but there was one girl here with a sense of irritation that he was drawn to. But the people who brought him and Midnight here would disapprove if he attacked anybody, so he busied his hands by braiding Midnight's hair. His own hair draped over his back and shoulder, partially hiding his face from the others.

Trent was shoved in by dawn, grumbling as he reisted against her. She tricked him into coming here, and now she was just leaving on leaving him here in this disaster of a meeting.
She shoved him forward and then moved to leave, shutting the door in his face. He groaned as he turned back to the group, he pulled on the handle but instead of it turning it wouldn't go.
She was holding the handle.
He growled under his throat, whatever. Fine. If she wanted him to be here so bad then he might as well go sit down. He wasn't participating though.
He found a seat in the sea of bodies, his scrunched his noise up at all the smells.
well this couldn't get any worse.. he let out a sigh, clearly irritated.

Raysu tears her gaze away from Aspen, looking around as she smells three new scents.

The scents were all mingling together, but one stood out to her: an aggressive male.

Raysu curls her lips in disgust and hate, already tracing the scent back to a pair that was well away from the main group.

She has an urge to stand up and start a fight with the man, but suppresses it well enough that she only snarls at him and turns her head to look at the second person.

A deppressed female, biting her arm.

That's where the smell of blood is coming from. . . she notes.

She finds the third person, and pauses.

Why are there so many men here? It's fucking disgusting. she grimaces, turning away from the man.

Mary clapped her hands, calling all the attention her way. "Alrighty! So first off we're going to do introductions, then we'll see how we all feel. Aspen can go first because they've been here the longest and know how we do it!" She hummed a small tune as she stepped away to let Aspen stand up awkwardly.

They sort of caved in on themselves as they stood up, coughing a bit. "Uh, I'm Aspen, they/them. The best part of my week was…" They pause to think. "I suppose, Mary took me to a bookstore earlier this week while waiting for my foster parents to arrive." There was a thick cloud of hate around the words foster parents before they spoke again. "And the worst was coming to this shit hole again!" Aspen exclaimed with fake cheer, sickly sweet.

Raysu snorts derisively, but she completely agrees with the last statement.

She understood perfectly hating foster parents - and real parents. But that didn't mean she trusted Aspen in the slightest.

Ronni exhaled through her nose as she watched Aspen introduce himself.
Mary was crazy if she thought the rest of them were going to follow that example. They seemed to be doing well to just keep from mauling each other. In particular the big girl who had scowled at literally everyone so far seemed ready to start brawling. The… Couple? Twins? Weirdly intimate friends? over in the corner seemed stable, though all of the boys kept looking at the girls like pieces of meat, which was disconcerting.
She kept herself emotionally flat. Give away nothing. Don't let anyone know or see.
They can see you doing that, though…

Trent looked up at the person that started the introductions, he could agree with them when heard them call this place horrible. He couldn’t agree more and he had just got here. He let out a sigh as he looked around to everywhere else. Seemed like no one else planned to go next, as much as he hated the idea of him going next he didn’t see many other options.
He straightened himself up and cleared his throat.
“Names Trenton, you can call me Trent.” He spoke, looking away while he was talking. “Pronouns are he/him I guess…”
