Should I be creating another roleplay when I haven't even posted a starter for one of my already-existing ones? Probably not. Am I going to let that dictate my life? Absolutely not.

I present to you: My take on the classic war between "good" and "evil".

There is the light and there is the dark; the good and the bad. Many are eager to combine the concepts, entertaining the thought of light and good or dark and bad as synonymous. These ideals, of course, do not take into account that the dark brings just as much good as the light, or that the light brings just as much bad as the dark. Light and good or dark and bad are not synonymous, but neither are they opposites. Just as angels are not always good and demons are not always bad. And yet, such is the way of life to try and simplify things, no matter what kind of harm they may bring to those who don't fit into the constraints of acceptability.

In this world, we observe the two races—angels and demons—and the war they have waged against each other to prove their worthless pride. More specifically, we observe the effects they have and three people: A young demon, a young angel, and an angel child.

In simpler terms, the angels and demons are at war. They each have their own territories where their own kind is safe, although boundaries are always being pushed. Somehow or another, for reasons that will later be revealed, a young demon is stranded in the thick of angel territory along with an angel child they're trying to take back to their territory. They meet another young angel, closer to the demon's age, who decides to help the pair get to where they're going without realizing the demon in question is actually a demon.

I'm hoping for an eventual best platonic-or-romantic friends and found family. With that said, I'm playing both the young demon and the angel child. Whoever joins will be the angel guide.

WORLDBUILDING: Dark Fantasy/Dystopian

-> The angels have a reputation of being incredibly strict. They generally believe themselves to be superior and far more civilized than demons thanks to their many rules, and the consequences of breaking these rules are severe. Punishments are doled out by their Council, with the highest, most degrading punishment being the removal of an angel's wings. These occasions are reserved for truly big fuck-ups.
-> Conversely, the demons are far laxer. So lax, in fact, that many individuals take advantage of the scarce rules by committing atrocious acts merely because they can get away with it. That's not to say there's no punishment, however; those that defy the few rules risk banishment, which often spells death for a demon without a place to go. Their punishments are doled out by their Delegates.
-> Angels have varying degrees of lighter-colored wings. It's traditional for them to have long hair neatly tied back, as well as well-maintained nails and other aspects of their appearance. Powerful angels will adorn their wings or brows with intricate gold jewelry. Furthermore, all angels are required to wear plain, non-revealing clothes.
-> Demons have far more expressive features and the freedom to showcase them however they want. Every demon has horns of varying sizes and colors, along with tails with just as much variety. Every demon's wings are darkly colored.
-> Both species possess varying levels of simple magic, with angels being proficient with "light magic" and demons being proficient with "dark magic". You can interpret that how you will.
-> Keep in mind that angels are the only ones with the ability to cast glamours, which they primarily use to cover up scars, as they're seen as evidence of failures. To outwardly wear a scar is to be seen as someone with no remorse for a past failure.

ROLEPLAYING RULES + WARNINGS

-> andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer)’s Rules
-> Try to keep short responses to a minimum. Some are expected and even encouraged at points, but make sure you’re contributing and not just reacting.
-> LGBTQ+ friendly!
-> Please don’t give me a Mary/Gary Sue character.
-> Cursing is totally fine, don't even worry about it.
-> This roleplay, including backstories of certain characters, will include triggering topics. Exercise caution if anything like blood, pain, or gore triggers you, and please, let me know what your triggers are if applicable.

CHARACTER CREATION

NAME - Wyleth (or "Wiley")
AGE - Twenty-one
GENDER - Male
PRONOUNS - He/him
SEXUALITY - Panromantic, asexual
APPEARANCE - Tall; about 6'0", with a lean figure and pale skin with an unhealthy tint to it. His hair is reddish-brown, long, and unruly as if it hasn't been trimmed in a while and hangs to his shoulders when it's down. Hidden in his hair are two similarly toned horn nubs, slowly growing back in but difficult to see past his hair. His most noticeable scar is a chunk of missing cheek that exposes his molars from the other side. He keeps this hidden behind a mask despite the suspicion it casts on him, as the presence of a scar on his face has a higher chance of revealing his identity as a demon than showing off his horns, tail, or sharpened canines. His wings, as you may have guessed from lack of mention, have been cut out.
BACKSTORY - To be revealed.
PERSONALITY - At heart, he's a curious and outgoing creature, full of confidence and excitement for the world's mysteries. He trusts easily—too easily—a fact that has come back to bite him. Over time his natural traits have been clouded by doubt and fear, replacing his curiosity with hesitance and extroverted-ness with suspicion. Trust is a touchy subject—a part of him never wants to trust again, whereas, in reality, he also finds himself wanting to believe in the good of people. It's a constant internal struggle.
OTHER -
-> Gets lots of stress headaches and the occasional migraine.
-> Has a pretty weak immune system in general.
-> Favorite genre of music is psychedelic pop.
-> Loves children; they're the only ones who used to be able to keep up with his desire for adventure.
-> Would literally die for Aerilyn (see below).

NAME - Aerilyn (or "Lyn" or "Aerie")
AGE - Five
GENDER - Female
PRONOUNS - She/her
SEXUALITY - Unknown (because she's literally six)
APPEARANCE - Long, dirty-blonde hair that falls in ringlets around her face. Wyleth tries his best to keep it tied back for her, but he can barely tie his own without it looking like a mess. She has warm green eyes and olive-toned skin, as well as two fledgling wings covered in light gray downy fluff.
BACKSTORY - To be revealed.
PERSONALITY - Super sweet and loves attention, but can come off as timid around people unless Wyleth seems to approve. She's very independent and sees herself as Wyleth's caretaker rather than the other way around.
OTHER -
-> Can't fly yet.
-> Is obsessed with dogs; part of her magic lets her exchange feelings with animals and those are her favorite.

Here's Wyleth and Aerilyn, in case you were curious :)

@Vuclan-is-tired

Aww! So cute!

Here's my character!

NAME - Iason (Ian for short)
AGE - 25
GENDER - Male
PRONOUNS - He/him/his
SEXUALITY - Biromantic
APPEARANCE - Beautiful white hair that reaches to the small of his back, almost reaching past his hips. It's usually in a long braid or something of the sort. His eyes are a bright blue, with flecks of gold in them. He has paler skin, it's incredibly fair. He's a bit allergic to the sun. He has a pair or rather large wings, three on each side. He's very delicate looking, but he's considered a needed asset to the heavens, just don't underestimate him and you should be fine. He's about 5'8 in height, but he doesn't really keep track. He's usually seen wearing clothes that practically cover everything. White taoist looking robes, they reach up and cover his neck, and then simple white gloves to cover his hands.
BACKSTORY - Will be revealed.
PERSONALITY - Iason is gentle, if not a bit out of it. He seems to be lost in his own little world when there is nothing preoccupying his attention. He's soft spoken, but he has this intense aura about him that makes people shut up and listen. He's very caring and warm, and is very calming to be around. He often puts mind and body to rest. However, whenever he is snapped to attention, he'll remember even the smallest details. He is powerful, never doubt that for a minute. He can be ruthless and cunning if need be, and many often underestimate him because of his gentle state.
OTHER -

  • Sleeps often, it helps him clear his mind
  • Has healing abilities, much like his name suggests.
  • Has no known family, and doesn't seem to appear close to any of the other angels.
  • Spends most of his free time in libraries, has a vast amount of knowledge.
  • His weapon is a scythe

Thanks! I spent like four and a half hours on them lol.

And I cannot fully express in words how much I love Iason. Although I am curious as to how you pronounce it. Is it 'I-oh-son', maybe? Or 'Ee-son'? But yeah, I think he, Wiley and Aerie will mesh well!

I'm actually on break at the moment, but luckily I already wrote a starter in Google docs so I'll have that pasted before I go back :)

“Wiley?” a little voice whispered.

Panicked eyes met the child’s and Wyleth held a finger to his lips. Aerilyn faltered, then pretended to zip her lips and swallow the key with a very serious expression. Normally he’d have teased her for the order of her motions, but he was too busy ushering the angel further behind him.

Heart pounding, the demon held his breath and turned his head just slightly to the side so he could see around the corner without drawing any attention.

“Where’d he go?” a furious voice rang out, and Wyleth flinched to find the speaker much nearer than he’d thought. He ducked back around the corner, setting a steady hand on Aerilyn’s shoulder and resting his head against the brick behind him. His throat contracted with a nervous swallow, literally sweating in anticipation when—

“Just forget it, man. We’ve been chasing him for twenty minutes now; at this rate, we’re going to be late for work,” another voice responded.

The original voice sighed, rather grumpily agreeing. The sound of flapping wings filled the street and when Wyleth chanced another look, he spotted the two angels soaring back the way they’d come. He slumped to the ground in relief, breathing heavily for several moments before glancing at Aerilyn.

The moment their eyes met they burst into quiet laughter, leaving Wyleth to try and gather his breath again at the end of it.

“You should not have gone after that dog, little lady,” the demon lightly scolded, hugging Aerilyn close for a moment before releasing her.

“But he wanted to come with us!” the five-year-old protested with a pout.

Wyleth resisted a fond eye roll. “They all want to come with us because you ask them to.”

Aerilyn looked like she wanted to reason further, but at Wyleth quickly shushed her again. His ear twitched at the faint pitter-patter of a four-legged animal because of course it would follow; he was just glad the animal was slower than the angels had been or they might’ve been found out. There was something else, though. Another, more predictable pitter-patter of…of a person walking.

He cursed under his breath, ignoring Aerilyn’s pinched expression of disapproval and once again ushering her behind him. His entire demeanor switched from relieved to alert in an instant.

Is someone following the dog? he wondered, silently standing to fully obscure Aerilyn from view and readjusting his mask to be sure it covered his face.

He didn’t have to wait long for an answer, the fluffy brown snout of a familiar labradoodle poking into their hidey hole just before the person wandered into sight.

Iason was just having his normal day, quietly wandering through the city(? I'm not exactly sure where they are), doing his job as an angel, keeping the peace. His wings trailed behind him quietly, his feet almost silent against the ground as he walked. He looked incredibly peaceful as he walked, almost like a living statue. Intense blue eyes, practically marble white skin, wings bigger then life itself… yes… the idea angel. Among other things that made him practically unapproachable, there was also a massive scythe resting over his shoulders.

He saw a few angels flying over his head, but he didn't care much for it. After all, he was doing something else. The higher ups could handle things for now. He wasn't sure what the angels were searching for though. That wasn't on his mind either, he was perfectly fine just exploring for now.

That was until a dog brushed past him. A labradoodle, rather cute. Iason knelt down gently and scratched behind it's ears. "Hello little friend." He murmured quietly, petting it for a moment before it licked his palm and wandered off. With nothing better to do, he hummed and walked after the smaller dog. His robes gently swept against the ground as he walked lazily after the dog. His mind still appeared to be in the gutter for the most part before he noticed the dog had stopped, tilting his head a bit as he moved closer to where the dog had wandered too.

He paused and noticed the man in front of him, his mind still a bit hazy as a dreamy expression fell over his face. "Hello, stranger." He greets kindly. He paused and noticed the small angel. "Hello, little one." He smiled softly at her before looking over them. "Are you both alright?" He asks gently, tilting his head slightly.
