Claire sat next to her. The bell was due to ring in just a few minutes so Claire had put her things away and waited. "What's your next class?" she asked. "I'll walk with you."

"It's um…Science"

"Oh cool. So do I!" Claire knew that her friend Jemi was in the class too so she could introduce her. "My friend, Jemi, is in the class too, so I'll introduce you!"

"U-Ummm…O-Ok"

Claire could tell right away that Hina was nervous. "Unless- unless you don't want me to… If you're nervous, don't worry. Jemi's the best… But I get it."

"It's fine."

"If you say so…" she trailed off. Crap, I made her uncomfortable…

"let's get going."

"Okay.." they walked together in silence. She probably has social anxiety or something… Claire thought. Should I ask about it? No that would make her more nervous. Claire thought. But- I want to help.

Hina started pulling on one of her sleeves

The bell was about to ring and Claire knew that Ms. Dobbins was not very forgiving of late students. "We need to hurry…" she half said to Hina. She grabbed Hina's hand and ran with her to the classroom. They ran inside just as the bell rang.

"We made it"

"Yeah we did." Claire took her seat next to Jemi and made a seat on her other side for Hina. Jemi leaned over and whispered, "Who's the new kid?" Claire didn't answer since Ms. Dobbins had just walked into the classroom.

Hina sits down and looks at the ground still a little upset from earlier

Claire looked between Hina and Jemi. She knew that Hina was nervous and probably still upset about earlier. Claire listened to Ms. Dobbins teach her lesson, her mind still lost in thought.

As class continued Hina started to calm down

Claire tapped Hina on her shoulder. "You okay?"

She nods slowly "I'm fine. promise"

Claire looked Hina into her eyes. "Alright, if you say so."

She smiled softly then the bell rings

Claire got up and packed her things. She had gym next and wasn't looking forward to it. Well, she never was. Jemi appeared next to her. "So who's the new kid?"
"Oh her name's Hina. She's pretty cool."
"Oh cool. I'm gonna say hi, then." Before Claire could do anything, Jemi had walked up to Hina and initiated conversation.

Hina seemed nervous "u-uhhh…"

Claire ran over. "Umm Hina! This is Jemi. I was telling you about her and Jemi, Hina. Now that we're all introduced, let's get to class. The bell rings soon."

Hina grabs her arm and hides behind her "…"
