Jacob nodded, "Thanks." And then Trevor finally sat down, and placed the board. Jacob looked at Aubrey, "You dont have to do this if you don't want to." He wanted to care for the man, knowing that being sheltered was probably the only thing he knew. Jacob leaned back in the seat again and ran a hand through his hair. Don't pressure people into things assholes. Trevor looked at Jacob, "Dude you ready to try and connect with the…..other world?" Jacob shrugged, not really caring right now, most of his focus on Aubrey. He didn't know the kid well but he hoped he was alright. Trevor put his hand on the planchette, signaling for the others to follow his actions. "Dude this is so stupid, it wont even work." Jacob muttered, slowly placing his hand by Trevors. "Aubrey, you wanna give it a go?" Jacob asked, looking at him.
Gabe glanced over at Aubrey as he placed his hands down on the board, "Come on." He said motioning for him to do the same. He had a look on his face as if to say that Aubrey ought to just go along with it. So although he really didn't want to, he placed his hands down on the board. The boy looked over at Jacob sort of saying that he'd be fine. But he had no clue what to do, he knew that this wouldn't work, so it would be okay, but still, it was sort of weird to think about. How could a board connect them to the dead or something?
Jacob gave Aubrey a small smile right before Trevor began chanting weird shit. "Dude we're not summoning anything. Stop chanting like a maniac." Jacob kicked Trevors shin. Trevor whined, "alright alright, lets play the damn thing. Are there any spirits that wanna communicate with us?" Jacob sighed, hoping nothing was going to happen. And the thing didn't move. "See told you it wouldn't work." Jacob chuckled at Trevor.
Aubrey was studying the board, not exactly sure what was going on. He could see a small movement on it, but he wasn't sure if that was just someone moving it or if that was supposed to happen. To be honest the whole thing was sort of weird to him and he was wanting to go home more and more. He glanced over at Gabe but the guy didn't seem to notice the movement at all. In fact, he had started flirting with one of the other guys in the group, and well he figured that Isaac had already left the party with someone, Great, seems like I'm gonna get a ride home tonight then.
Jacob looked at Aubrey, "Hey you good man? You need anything?" His slight buzz finally left and to be honest the party was way to straight for him. Yeah weird description but it just didn't feel like a real party to him. He got out of his chair and waited for Aubrey to respond, hoping that everything is good. Jacob needed to check before he left the place.
He nodded, Mm, it was probably nothing. he stood up and watched as Gabe went over to the guy and began flirting his face off, Yep, I definitely need a ride home now. They thought with a groan, "Oh, uhm, yeah I'm fine." He said with a slight smile. He pulled out his phone and was about to call for an Uber, then realized he was broke, Great… Would it be too weird to ask for a ride from Jacob? I mean, I don't think he's drunk or whatever he was earlier so I think I'll be fine. I mean, what's the worst that could happen? "Hey uhm J-Jacob? Can I ask you for a favor?"
He nodded, "Yeah whats up?" Jacob looked around the party, still a lot of people doing whatever they wanted. Then it clicked. ahhh he needs a ride. mannerisms tell a lot. "You need a ride or something? Or need a place to crash?" He had to make sure the kid didn't need a place to stay. Jacob normally wasn't this caring about people but something about Aubrey lowered his guard and he seemed like he need to protect him.
"I, erm, yeah." Wait, from previous experiences he had been kicked out of the dorm room so many times because either Gabe or Isaac had decided to bring someone home, so why would tonight be any different. Before it had been a little bit easier since he had friends in nearby dorms, but they had moved out, and it would be kind of awkward for him to ask to spend the night at their place. At least with this guy, I won't see him again. So it might be okay. "Uhm, yes, for both, if that's okay, if not that's okay I'll find someone else, I don't mind." He said glancing around the crowd of people, there would have to be at least one person there who wouldn't hurt him, right?
"Yeah it fine. I've got plenty of space at my apartment so no need to worry." Jacob smiled, "You ready to get out of here?" He definitely was done with this party especially since Trevor keeps ditching him. But maybe Aubrey would be there for him. no thats silly, he's probably just wanting this to be over and to go back on his normal life. "I'm not far down the street so we'll be at my place in like ten minutes." He told Aubrey.
"Okay, thank you." He said with a big smile, I really appreciate it." Aubrey said breathing a sigh of relief. "O-ohh, uhm okay." I think that I'll be okay then. He followed the man to his car and for into the vehicle, staying silent as they drove to the apartment.
Jacob parked the car in front of the apartment complex. "So you have everything you need for tonight?" He asked, making sure Aubrey was good to go. Jacob gave a quick yawn, just now starting to feel tired. He turned the car off and grabbed the keys and got out. He hated his apartment, it was so big and lonely. "I'll give you a quick tour of the place and then I'll let you be." He told Aubrey, letting the other know that he'd have privacy.
"I'm alright," all he wanted to do was take out those stupid fangs and go to sleep. "I, erm, thank you, I really appreciate all this. I know that you really didn't have to do any of this, in factyou really didn't have to help me at all, so this really nice of you." He said smiling a little bit.
Jacob nodded, "Yeah, your welcome." He unlocked the door to his apartment and opened the door. "Honestly its no problem. Its kinda nice to have someone around even if its for the night." He walked in and set his keys on the kitchen counter, which was by the door. "Uhm so heres the kitchen. All sorts of food if you're hungry. Water is in the fridge." Jacob told Aubrey, and then moved to door closest to them, "This is the guest bathroom, and then the guest room is right next door." Jacob pointed out all the places quickly so the kid could go to bed, Aubrey looked tired in his opinion. "and I'm just across the hallway from you." Jacob told Aubrey and continued speaking, "Don't hesitate to ask me for anything. I'm probably going to be up a few more hours so feel free to ask for something if you need it." It had been a long while since someone had stayed with him. It was actually almost over year ago. His last relationship went well until the last few months before it ended. So it was nice to have someone in the house.
"O-oh, okay, I mean, it was really nice of you to offer me a place to stay." Aubrey really was exhausted at the moment but was trying to hide it. He figured that it would impolite for him to yawn or anything while the man was giving him the tour, so he just followed along until they got to his room. "Okay, well, uhm good night and thank you." He said with a yawn walking into the guest room. Aubrey closed the door behind him, and sat down on the bed, not sure what to do. Am I allowed to take a shower, should I ask him? I mean, well, he did say he'd be awake, but still I don't want to bother him.
Jacob entered his room and grabbed his laptop before sitting on his bed. I really dont want to do work right now, but oh well it needs done. He sighed as he opened the laptop and the bright loading screen blinded him. while work wasn't what he wanted to do he wasn't tired yet so work would be his only option. Jacob looked over at the table next to the bed, the broken picture frame still sitting there. "Damn…Just move on idiot.." He cursed at himself and then focused on his laptop.
((Okay, before I post, how should we introduce the horror?))
((I know that spirits like to mess with electrical things so maybe the service cuts out for a bit. While that happens maybe they keep seeing a shadow figure watching them but they play it off as their brain tricking them. Slowly over time the spirits start showing up more, haunting the apartment and messing with them.))
((Oh that sounds cool, I feel like Aubrey would have decided after feeling so scared -probably the same night they met- and just like something's watching us, I feel scared, I trust you and halp))
((Alright that sounds good.))
After taking a shower Aubrey stepped out of the bathroom and back into the bedroom when the lights went out in the apartment. He let out a wild yelp and closed his eyes until the light came back on, and then relaxed a little bit when the lights returned. He climbed into the bed, trying to fall asleep, but he felt slightly off, as though someone was watching him.
Jacob watched the wifi connect and disconnect for the past hour. Something that was very uncommon for his apartment. So he brushed off his work stuff and set the laptop on the table. And then the lights flickering. the hell is going on? He was very confused by all of this. But not scared. Jacob laid down on the bed and stared at the ceiling. He was almost asleep when he felt like he was being watched. So he sat up and scanned the room, but there was nothing. "Just go to bed…Its just your mind idiot…" Jacob mumbled, laying down and closing his eyes.
After trying to go back to sleep and just tossing and turning, Aubrey finally realized that he was being watched, by something, but he wasn't sure what at the moment. He scanned the room over and over trying to figure out what it was, but he couldn't pinpoint it. Until he happened to glance out of the window and in the reflection of the window it seemed as though there was a shadowy figure inside the apartment. Scared, Aubrey glanced around but saw nothing. So, it must just be my imagination… But after a little bit of still not being able to fall asleep, he checked and for some reason the figure still appeared to be there.
Jacob ended up leaving his room, sick and tired of the odd feeling of being watched. He went and sat on the couch in the living room, only to have the TV become pure static. ¨The hell is going on?¨ Jacob muttered turning the TV back off. Things were odd, and to be honest he blamed it on himself. He wasnt himself today so he felt like karma kinda hit hard. But that didnt explain the feeling of being watched. And just when things couldnt get any worse, the phone service went dead. ¨Great, no texting or calling for help now…¨ Jacob sighed.
Aubrey got out of the bed and padded out of the room to the living room. "U-uhm, Jacob, something wrong." He said sitting down on the couch. "I, uhm if you're pranking me or something, then that's okay, b-but I feel like I'm being watched, and it's kinda scary to me."
Jacob thought for a second and then responded to Aubrey, "No its not me. But I know what you mean. The odd feeling of being watched. The power flickering. The Wifi has gone out. So has phone service." Things werent right, and there was one final explanation. "Its the ouija board. We let the spirits cross over and their pissed at us…" Jacob said as he fiddled with tv remote.
