"Those are nice names," Kai said with a small smile. He thought they were, really
Gij smiled back a bit. “Thanks.” He liked their given names much better than the harsh ones they had gotten from the Sirens.
Kai went to say something, but he realized that he hadn't gotten Gij any food. "Are you hungry? Do you want anything to eat?"
Gij blinked and shrugged. “I guess, if you want to. I’m not very hungry.” This was a lie. He was starving, but he learned to ignore it.
"I've got some takeout if you want?" Kai offered. He figured that the other would be hungry too
“Oh, yeah. That sounds good.” Gij nodded. He wasn’t sure what takeout was, but it sounded like food.
Kai nodded and got up to go get the food. He was hungry himself, since he was usually pretty high maintenance energy-wise, but he could wait
Sobex gobbled down the chicken he was given and started to paw at Gij’s chest. He whined loudly for him.
Kai was heating up the takeout when he heard Sobex whine. He looked over at them, a small smile on his face
Gij took the pup in his arms, who immediately crawled into his shirt. Gij squeaked softly and hastily tugged his sweater back up. Murdock could’ve sworn he caught a glint of something in the light.
Murdock very much did see something, and he frowned ever so slightly. "What was that?" he asked curiously
Gij looked up, grinning nervously. “N-nothing. Imean- What do you mean?”
"I saw something glinting. What was it?" Kai asked, too curious to leave Gij alone on this
Gij shrugged. “I don’t know what you mean.” His voice was oddly high-pitched.
"Come on, it's not like I'm going to make fun of you if it's embarrassing. I just want to know," Kai pressed
Gij sighed and looked around. “Are you sure you wanna see?”
"Obviously. I would be asking otherwise," Kai said with a small chuckl
Gij took off his sweater, helping Sobex down onto the couch. He stood up and took off his shirt, showing off scales running down from his collarbone to his sides and on his stomach. They seemed to run down to his hips and legs, too.
Kai looked at the scales with a slight bit of amazement. "Wow…They're rather nice, if you ask me," he said with a small smile
Gij sighed and looked down at them. “I suppose. I don’t like them, much.” He put his shirt and sweater back on.
“I’m half-dragon. I was captured with Sobex, here. And we decided to escape.” He shrugged.
"Well, I like them," Kai said as he brought the now warm takeout over to Gij. He handed him the food before sitting down again. "I've got marks all over me, but I'm still okay with them. They're part of me, so you shouldn't be ashamed of something like scales."
Gij scooted over so Kai had room and he shrugged. “Scars and marks are different. I’d love to have a couple so people would just leave me alone. But people poke fun at me and… do other things when they realized I had scales.”
Kai frowned a bit at that. Lips pursed, he decided the best he could do for comfort was show Gij how bad his scars were. "This is the worst of mine," he said before pulling up his shirt, showing a large swath of what looked like a burn scar on his side. It was faded, but it wasn't pretty
Gij gazed at the scar. He had seen much worse, but he knew how to respect scars. He looked up at Kai, shrugging a bit.
“It looks pretty bad.”
"Granted, it looked a lot worse when I died, but that doesn't really matter now," Kai said with a shrug
