"And how do you know it's me? I mean.." Maze looked him up and down. "I look nothing like you." It may have seemed rude, but it was true. She had tan skin with dark curly hair, her eyes were a slight bluish green. A few freckles laid across her cheeks and nose. There was no way she was a halfling. And if she was stolen, then did her grandma do it?
"Because you're the only human around here who can see my kind." Falhorn looked at Maze, noting her features.
"Besides… I don't look like most fae." He said this quietly, as if it were something he was ashamed of.
"Wait, are Fae and elves different?" Maze shook her head. "No, that can wait." She walked closer sighing. It was still hard to believe, but it's not like she was totally against it. "So, is this a different world we are talking about. And how am I supposed to help?" Before he could answer another voice cut through the darkness of the forest. "Maze! Where are you?" Her grandma's voice had a mixture of anger and worry. "If you want me to go with you then we need to leave now."
Falhorn's head shot up at the sound of someone calling.
"Alright. But I-I'll need your help to move…" Again, he tried to push off of the tree.
"I know somewhere we can go."
Maze nodded and quickly wrapped his arm around her shoulder. "Tell me where to go." I must be crazy for going along with this. She sighed thinking that she might be kidnapped. "So is this like a different world or like dimension we are going to?" Or did they just live here on earth in hiding. So many questions still swirling inside her head.
Falhorn clung to Maze, limping slightly.
"Not… exactly," He said, leading her farther into the woods. The trees were denser here, and less light was filtering in.
