@The-Magician, here’s the thread! I just copied the main thing over so we have some reference :D

There are only nine immortals that exist. They're portrayed as gods in some tales, physical embodiments of power in others, or just immortals in a select few legends. And yet, they all agree that these immortals exist. The only catch though, is that no one has claimed to see them, talk to them, witness their powers, or even photograph them.

When they first watched humanity grow, they didn't hide their powers and instead used them freely, helping mankind along, using their powers to help. Slowly, they faded away as time ticked onward though. Humanity grew, wars started and ended, countries formed, and these immortals stayed quietly to the side, only aiding when needed. One fatal mistake cost them their freedom though. And within a century, they were essentially enslaved to the very humans they had helped survive.

Most would think this impossible, since of course, they're immortals, they can simply outlive their masters. It seemed like that at first, until humanity grew clever, finding the source of their powers and keeping them from the immortals. And so, ever since, these immortals have been used as tools. Traded between countries, used as weapons, tortured, never free, always kept a silent secret.

Welcome to yet another rp I shouldn't be starting! The above snippet is the basic gist of these immortal's past, who are the focus of this rp. I have more information about them that I'll post if someone actually finds this interesting and wants to join. This is an idea I thought up in some crazy dream that I love and I am taking further than a dream. But I'm also bored, and so I figured it would also make a good rp :)

Rules before I ramble any longer:
-andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer)'s rules as always
-Swearing is allowed, but I won't use it very frequently
-There may be some triggering subjects present, and even though I am not affected by such topics, if you are, please tell me before joining. I am more than willing to work around mentioning most things if needed.
-Romance isn't a huge part of this story, but there is potential for it.
-Anything steamy from said romance will be taken to PM or skipped over
-Please have passable spelling and grammar as it is a pet peeve of mine.
-Ask before joining and I may ask for a writing sample
-I have the right to say no to anyone joining, but please know it isn't personal
-I am looking for an experienced rper who is comfortable replying with 3+ sentences
-If possible someone that is able to post frequently would be prefered, at least once every two weeks or so. I also ask that you just give me a heads up if you disappear for longer than a week.
-I may add to this list if I think of anything else

@gracehustle

I’m not sure lol, do you have any preference on plot or shall I put together ideas? That will help determine character things, and I’ll get something up with more information about the immortals as soon as I have the chance.

@The-Magician group

Yeah that’s cool. As for plot I can try and think of one? The initial thing that comes to mind involves the immortals taking back their own lives and actually making themselves known for the people that they are, not the people that they’re being forced to be through slavery etc. I dunno, it’s an idea?

@gracehustle

That sounds good to me! Any suggestions on how to get to the point where they have enough free? I know I have a few ideas, but up to you :) Also, sorry for the dissapearing act, work is killer.

@The-Magician group

Hey no it’s okay, I completely understand (and I think now would be a good time to mention that I’m working pretty much all week this week) :(
I’m afraid I don’t have any suggestions so if you have ideas then I’m all for it!

@gracehustle

Here’s some suggestions that I whipped up, feel free to change or suggest changes to any

  • One: a guard of one of the immortals (Maybe the gem wielder) Falls for them/ just wants to help because they've seen how terribly they're treated, so they try to escape and end up being chased?
  • Two: two of the immortals are planning to escape, and in the end, only one of them gets out? This could add romance easily, or not and I know it's extremely vague :)
  • Three: one immortal escapes, but they end up falling/befriending a human in the town they end up living in, and when they're caught or chased the human decides to come with?
  • Four: two or more immortals run across each other when they're sent on missions, and on a whim, they try their hand at escape, essentially leaving behind everything (Including their stones) This leads them to try to go back and get their stones, as well as try to help the other immortals.

I know these are all very vague, but I want to leave room for your input as well :)

OH! I also forgot to add, it's rare for any one country to have more than one or two immortals, and if they do have two, most countries will keep them separate for fear of them working together. Countries will also sell/trade/deal these beings around from time to time to help themselves or aid an ally in certain cases.

Also…before I forget, info about the immortals.

Ok, so this is 'general' info that is true about them, please feel free to ask any and all questions
-Each immortal is similar to humans in the way that they look like humans, and can be hurt to an extent as well as can feel pain. Age doesn't affect them though, but they do require food and water if they want to use their powers. (They can survive without food forever, but if they want control of their powers, they need to eat at least once a week.)
-Food is one way they're controlled, as the longer they've gone without eating the less of their powers they can control.
-The other is through their powers. Each immortal's powers are stored in a specific gem, and by keeping the gem away from the immortals, they can control them. The immortals can only use the basics of their power without the gems, and to use the full power they have to be physically touching the gem.
-It's physically painful for them not to have their gems, and it feels similar to a broken rib that won't heal to them.
-The gems can't break and the immortals can't die, even from the most serious of injuries. If someone tries to do something like cut their head off or gut them fully, their weapon will never succeed, and any other limb can regrow.
-Specific powers and what they're like varies wildly depending on the religion involved or the tales being told
-All of the names given to each of the immortals are only used in the case of human interaction, they usually call each other by the thing they control or by the name given to them by whoever is controlling them.
-Ages listed as well are just what someone could guess how old they are by their appearance
-The stones can be removed from their respective jewelry if needed but the jewelry is a personal preference for the immortals if they are allowed to have it like so.

And this is more 'specialized' info about each of the immortals
Life: The gem is a clear cut diamond, set in a silver necklace. These powers are in the hands of a young male (25) named Andre. He has curly brown hair, deep brown eyes, tanned skin and stands at about 5'11". Without the gem, Andre is only able to speed up the healing of non-lethal injuries. With the gem he also can heal most lethal injuries, can keep someone alive for several more minutes before they die, and can revive people (heavy limitations here)

Fire: The gem is a deep red ruby, set in a gold armband that sits on the upper arm. Fire is controlled by an equally fire like girl named Olivia (18). Wild ginger hair goes to her shoulders and she also has vivid green eyes. About 5'4". Without the stone, she's able to manipulate existing fire and flames and is immune to fire. With the gem, she also gains the ability to create fire in her hand from nothing, some control over wildfires and heat, and slight control over lava/magma

Light: The gem is a multicolored opal set in a silver bracelet. A tall willowy woman named Elina (28). She has deep brown skin, straight black hair that goes to her mid-back, and hazel eyes to go with her height of 6'1". Without the stone, she can manipulate where light shines, and where shadows also hit. With the stone, she gains the ability to focus any light into a beam of any size, change the color of something if she focuses on it and (Like a glowstick) give off light from herself

Water: The gem is a light blue sapphire set in a silver bracelet. Water is controlled by a young man (20) named Kyo. He has black hair, deep brown almond-shaped eyes, and pale skin, plus he's about 5'9". Without the stone, he can manipulate existing water and be mostly immune to freezing temps. With it, he can breathe underwater, control ice and snow, swim quite fast and even control the water in someone's blood (Limited power)

Energy: The gem is labradorite set in a gold necklace. A young man named Samuel controls energy (27) who's 6'0". He has deeply tanned skin, curly deep brown hair, and brown eyes. Without the stone, he can control where lightning will strike and is immune to being electrocuted. With it, he also gains the powers of creating electricity blasts on his own, transferring things like punches into energy for his own use, and messing with people's electrical signals in their brains (Limited)

Earth: the gem is peridot set in a gold bracelet. The wielder is a young woman named Lilly (24) who stands at 5'3". She has ice blue eyes and dirty blonde hair paired with pale skin. Without the stone, she can aid plants in growth and can move rocks and things With it, she can create full on earthquakes, communicate with animals, and speed up plants growth even faster.

Psychics: The gem is amethyst set in a gold necklace. The wielder is a young man named Isaac (23) who is about 5'7". He has hazel eyes, brown hair, and caramel skin. Without the stone, he can make very basic force fields and faint telekinetic powers. With the stone, he gains increased basic powers, mind control (Limitations) And the ability to learn about the past just through touching an object.

Shaping: The gem is rose quartz set in a silver necklace. it's wielded by a man named Dakota (30) who stands at 5'11". He has black hair, chocolate brown eyes, and tanned skin as well as almond-shaped eyes. Without the gem, he can grow very small claws and can understand almost any spoken language. With it, he can grow wings, tails, claws, fangs, fur, gills, etc at will, mess with people's dreams, and can push messages into the other eight's minds if they're close enough.

Death: The gem is Iolite set in a silver armband for the upper arm. The wielder is a young woman named Caligo (19) who stands at 5'7". She has straight black hair, hazel eyes, and pale skin. Without the gem, she can speed up the process of death or slow it down as well as inflict non-life-threatening injuries. With it she can inflict death on anyone (Limited), tell when people are sick and dying and can do more with her basic powers.

@The-Magician group

Honestly I like he idea of two immortals planning to escape but only one of them makes it— I’ve been looking at trying to improve my writing in that kind of tragic area.

@gracehustle

Ok! Do you have a preference on which immortal you like most? If you don’t mind, I do like Caligo (death) myself, but if you want she’s up for grabs.

@gracehustle

I don't think it's cheesy at all! It's totally up to you as to which you prefer :) I'll get a template up if you want to do a little bit of personalization with your character, keeping the basics of course.

@The-Magician group

Ah sorry! I got caught up with work :( Just a heads up that I’m also working tomorrow.

Name: Andre Denver
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Personality: This man is a realist and an opportunist. He is very down to Earth and knows when it’s time to stop fantasising and focus on the situation at hand. He’s closed off, almost completely, about his personal life but he cares a great deal for other people in his own strange way.
Appearance: Andre is a little taller than average, a little over 5'11, and has a lean, albeit quite muscled, athletic frame. He has curly black-brown hair that sits just above his ears, and deep walnut, almond shaped eyes. His skin is lightly tanned with no visible blemishes on his face. He has a clear cleft in his chin, and his face is kept as clean shaven as possible for as long as possible. In his left ear lobe he wears a silver sun ear stud, but that is his only piercing.
Powers: Andre is able to ‘reach inside’ someone’s body and speed up the process of someone healing, this is mainly used for serious but non-lethal wounds. Through this method he is also able to hold someone’s life chord together for a few minutes longer, but he can’t save someone from death. If someone has already died he has an hour window where he can resurrect them, but in doing so will drain him to the point of unconsciousness and needs to rest for several hours between using this power.
Likes: Listening to people talk about their lives, long walks, coffee, romance novels.
Dislikes: People who take life for granted, those with suicidal tendencies, not being able to help the injured, bullies.
Other: I don’t think so..?

@gracehustle

Name: Caligo Black
Age: Immortal, like all of the immortals, but she looks to be about 19-20
Gender: Female
Personality: She's a naturally quiet person, or at least she's become quiet and broken over centuries of being controlled. Before everything happened, she was a happy person, carefree and never serious. Over the years, she's become someone else, a shell of who she used to be, a person who does what she's told, never speaks back, suffers silently to avoid causing pain. Loves too hard and gives too much, she will put others before herself.
Appearance: Caligo's appearance is a major influence for most 'death' related portrayals. She has stick-straight black hair cut to her mid-back, calculating hazel eyes, and most recognizably, pale skin, free from any marks, scars, or blemishes. Standing at about 5'7", she's a twig. She looks to be no more than skin and bones, thin, with sharp features and long fingers.
Powers: Caligo controls 'death', she has the power to speed up or slow down the process of dying, and she can also inflict injuries, as long as they aren't life-threatening. When she has her gem, which is rare, she also gains the power to kill, sense when people are dying (Of things like cancer, tumors, etc), and her basic powers are enhanced to the point of her being able to inflict killing blows.
Likes: Being alone, knowing that people are safe from her powers, the simplicity of life, human's fleeting lives, butterflies, hot chocolate, music, the sun.
Dislikes: Killing, knowing that her powers cause sorrow, the dark and the cold
Other: She is currently 'owned' by the USA, used as their own personal murder weapon.

(Alright, here's my girlie! I'll probably get a starter up in the next few hours or so!)

@gracehustle

(Lol, thats totally ok! I put more time than probably is healthy into figuring out my characters, and Caligo is my baby, I know her best)

@gracehustle

(I should probably give you a heads up, due to their immortalness, all of the nine know each other, if it wasn't already clear)

Caligo had only seen Andre three times since being captured by humans. The first time being over 900 years ago, in Europe, when she still had the determination to try to break free. The second had been in Japan 400 years ago, a time when she was desperate to see anyone of the immortals. The third was in America, during the revolutionary war, when she was broken, just trying to keep herself sane. She hadn't seen him, or any of the immortals since then.
Three-hundred years of isolation, and yet, she could still picture Andre's face in her mind.

Maybe it was the only thing keeping her from breaking down further, maybe it was the cause of her deteriorating mind, either way, his face was stuck in her mind. Those stupid brown curls of hair and his almond eyes were burned into her mind, taunting her with memories, scolding her, watching her slip off the edge of sanity day by day.

She coughed as she pulled her mind from thinking of her closest friend, groaning as another cough wracked her body. Immortal or no, having a broken rib hurt like hell, and being away from her gem was another level of pain on top of that. Caligo couldn't see her injuries in the inky darkness of the trailer she was being kept in, but she could feel the pain with every bump they hit.

They were transferring her to who knew where. Most likely somewhere new in the country where she would be needed next. It was a common procedure, but the need to beat her beforehand still seemed to be necessary, as were the painfully tight handcuffs. Even though she would've gone peacefully, there was never a chance where they would turn down the opportunity to show their power.

Andre's face appeared back in her mind, this time with an 'You should know better by now' expression. Silently, she scowled at the image, leaning her head back against the metal wall as she closed her eyes. She knew all too well, no one needed to remind her, imaginary or real.

@The-Magician group

It had been some time since Andre had started working for–no, had been enslaved by–his current owner's family. Passed down from generation to generation, he was essentially the family's private physician and he hated every day of it.

Today was just the same as any other; waking up only to be dragged out of the house and through the disheveled streets of the lower town where his pompous owner would flaunt to the desperate about how he had an immortal as a doctor. Andre could no longer look the destitute in the eyes. He felt their pain, he knew how close some of them were to death without the treatment they needed, and Marcus knew it pained him to see so many people in need when he wasn't able to do anything about it.
"Look at that disgusting child." Marcus ordered with an icy laugh, pointing to a young, dark skinned girl with bony limbs and a bloated stomach. She drowned in the tattered dress that barely stayed on her shoulders, and from the slight movement she made, Andre could see that she wasn't wearing any socks or shoes. He took a deep breath and averted his eyes out of respect, internally praying that the Gods would protect that child in Heaven.

As he was being pulled back to Marcus' family estate, a large steel box–big enough to carry a person–sat in the gateway to the courtyard while the security guard checked over some paperwork. Just as the immortal was about to question what was going on, Marcus clipped him on the back of his head for simply opening his mouth. "This is none of your concern, just a slave you will never have an interaction with. Now, breakfast, I could do with some fresh fruit on this glorious day."

@gracehustle

Caligo wasn’t sure when she fell asleep, but she was sure they had dropped her off at wherever she was supposed to be by the time she woke up. The rumble of a truck no longer was near, and she could only feel the stinging pain of being hurt whenever she moved on her own.

“Let me out,” She mumbled to herself as she tapped her bare foot against the cold metal, “I don’t like the dark.” No one would hear her words, that much she knew. Only herself and the hallucinations that she brought with her.

Still, it didn’t stop her from trying, speaking the words again in a slightly louder voice before sighing and giving up again. Caligo closed her eyes once more, rotating her hands in their cuffs. The circulation was definitely cut off, but all she could feel was pins and needles in her fingers. A wonderful feeling. Almost as nice as the feeling of not being able to get a full breath in.

She could see Andre’s face again in her mind, a taunting smile as he showed her his imaginary hands, that were very free of handcuffs. Caligo stuck her tongue out at him, leaning back as she settled into the corner. She was about to ask for someone to let her out again, her mouth opened to speak when she heard a voice. It was faint, but she could hear it, a sharp voice speaking to someone, telling her what she needed to know.

She was definitely here for a job. This one sounded personal too. Nothing from a large company, being a slave meant one person. Or at least she could think that, unless the meaning had changed in her time in captivity.

Fake Andre shrugged in her mind, mouthing the words “Maybe. You are loosing your mind.”

@The-Magician group

“How many more slaves do you require?” Andre asked, glancing at the box over his shoulder. He was rewarded with another blow, a backhand to his cheek, while Marcus shouted.
“What have I told you about speaking out of turn Andre? You speak only when spoken to, understand?”
When the immortal responded with silence, he was smacked again. He spoke a soft word of understanding and was smacked for that; there was no winning with Marcus, he was exactly like his father and there was no doubt that his son would end up the same way.

Andre was dragged to Marcus’ private quarters, where he was seated and forced to watch his owner indulge in various fruits and pastries that made Andre’s stomach growl loudly. Every so often, Marcus would glance at Andre and offer him a piece of fruit as if taunting him; Andre never accepted despite how starved he was.
Today seemed to be slightly different, however, because Marcus felt the need to plate up a handful of fruit slices before sliding them towards Andre with a disgusted look. “Eat before I change my mind.”
And even though he knew it was likely to be a trap, the immortal inhaled the food before it had a chance to discolour.

@gracehustle

Caligo was halfway to talking back to her imaginary friend when she heard more speaking. Instantly, she closed her mouth and listened, frowning when a familiar name was spoken. Surely, the Andre that was mentioned couldn’t be the one she was thinking of. There were thousands of Andre’s, this couldn’t be him.

She still couldn’t quite shake the name out of her mind though. Not even as the people speaking walked away and she was left alone in silent darkness again.

Caligo sighed as she listened for any trace of voices, sagging against the wall of her box. Minutes later she heard the faint jingle of keys outside, and heavy footsteps walking to her box. Seconds later the reinforced steel lid of her prison was lifted up, leaving dazzling brightness to come in and effectively blind her.

She winced at the sudden change in light, pressing her eyes shut as gruff voices grabbed her thin arms, yanking her to her feet as she wobbled like a child. Her legs couldn’t take the weight, after all, she had been in there for gods knew how long. The ratty clothing she was wearing for once was actually nice though. As the bright sun blinded her, it also warmed her up, beating onto the tattered, baggy, and heavily stained green shirt, as well as her humble pair of ragged jeans, barely held together by more than threads at the knees.

The arms that grabbed her lifted her upwards suddenly, causing her to yelp as she was picked up out of her cage. Just as quickly, she was set down though, on hard pavement that she still couldn’t see, but could definitely feel. Wherever she was, it was sunny, and had to be somewhere nice if the ground under her feet wasn’t gravel or dirt.

@The-Magician group

Andre savoured every mouthful of the fruit given, his tastebuds tingling from the rich pineapple and sour tangerine. To his dismay the plate was emptied quicker than he had anticipated, but he was still overly grateful for the luxury he had been given.
That’s something he had learned the hard way— food was a luxury item that people like Marcus took for granted. Experiencing such a lesson wasn’t necessarily bad, because it gave Andre a clearer understanding of life, but it wasn’t exactly a good thing either.

Marcus rose from his seat and started undressing, making his way into the adjacent room to bathe. He kept his eye on Andre the entire time to make sure he wouldn’t run off; he knew Andre wasn’t the type to run away from him but it still played on his mind that one day he would wake to find the Immortal gone. “Andre, do you like living here?”
The Immortal looked over with a soft frown while rubbing his chin in thought. “It’s a dream compared to my situation prior to your services. I wouldn’t trade this for the bunkers, not at all.”
“Good.” Marcus gave a small smile before leaning his head against the back of the basin and closing his eyes. “I don’t know what I would do if you were to leave my family now, especially since I’m quite lonely without you.”
“Marcus—“
“I haven’t finished. You know, I hurt you and I starve you, and I boast about you to the peasants, but I’m not entirely a heartless man.”
Andre didn’t dare dispute that, instead he remained silent and stared out at the bright blue sky past the polished window.
