@PrettyLittlePyro

@Misfit, here you are! Are you okay being the guy?

The world had been torn apart by war. The governments had decided that they needed more power, and were willing to kill to get it. Massive wars erupted all over the place. There were no longer alliances. This was a fight for power, and no one wanted to share. No one.

But from the ashes of the old world, five heroes arose. Siblings, they were a tight-knit group of family who just wanted life to be normal. But, alas, it couldn't. So they did the next thing - they managed to stop the wars. By then, the countries were all too poor to do anything about it, and cheered these five on, saying they were heroes, and blessed, and had come in their time of need. Peace reigned in the world… but not for long.

Extraterrestrial life was real. And it had found earth. And when earth was at it's most delicate and fragile time, they struck. The five heroes fought against the aliens, but were killed, and the aliens took control.

Well, almost all of them had died.

One girl had survived. But she wasn't going to be a hero. Her family had died in front of her eyes, and she hadn't been able to do anything about it. And there was no way she was going to try to take on something so powerful that the five of them hadn't been able to defeat it.

But things were getting worse. The aliens demanded tribute, and payment, and so that's what they would get. The entire world lived in fear, again, and thought that nothing good would ever come. Their heroes were dead. There was no one left to help.

Or was there?

One man wanted to help. He knew he could, but he would need some support. He was willing to be a hero, and to risk his life for others.

One was a war-torn hero, the other, a hero wannabe.

And they both needed help.

Rules:
  • First off, this is going to be FxM. The character I have in mind for this is very much straight, so it wouldn't be fair to her. No arguments, I want this straight.
  • In case you didn't get it, I'm playing the girl, the former hero.
  • I would like a taste of your writing if I haven't before, please. I worked hard on this plot, and I want to be able to know what you're writing, so I can respond back.
  • Cursing is absolutely allowed.
  • This will be a romance, although it won't be the main plot.
  • There probably won't be anything too steamy, like sex, unless you're comfortable with it, and even then, we'll have to move it to the pms.
  • And lastly, just enjoy. I don't care how often you respond. Whether it dies or not is up to you, but I would like it to continue. And if it doesn't, well, I'll probably survive (just like those heroes…)

Yeeeee boi. Thanks for giving me the guy cuz my girl characters always come out a bit bland in RPs. Maybe it's because I don't relate to them as well, idk, but it sure makes me feel bad. Guys are my specialty. cracks knuckles
So let's do thisssssss.

@PrettyLittlePyro

Name: Ellowyn Adriatic
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Alias: Phantom
Appearance:

  • Hair: Short, to her chin. Brown, but with streaks of lighter brown and and darker brown, making it seem like it has layers to it, or like it's always shiny. Never any barrettes or hair clips or anything in it.
  • Face: Delicate, pretty features. A small nose, perfect lips, and high cheekbones, a little bit like an elf. She has really long, dark eyelashes, as well. Her eyes are brown, but her right eye has a spot of gold in it.
  • Body: Slender and curvy. She's about 5'4'', which she feels like is too short, but she can't do anything about it. Muscular, from all the work she's done. Long legs. Kind of the perfect body… ish.
  • Clothes: A tank top, usually, and leggings. Sometimes jeans, although those aren't really her favorite to wear. Anything she feels like wearing. Always the stuff she got from her siblings, she always wears those.
  • Distinguishing Features: She has her ears pierced, one on each ear. She also has a tattoo of the names of her family in flowing script around her left wrist. A long scar, that looks like a wild animal attacked her, all across her back, as a reminder.

Personality: Funny and kind. She tries to be nice to everyone, but it can be hard. She often gets annoyed with people, and will need some quiet time to think and be alone, although she hates being alone with her thoughts. She has severe PTSD, which is a big problem, and so whenever someone mentions something about the five heroes, or is reminded of her family, she will start to go into a panic mode. She has tried to hide her grief deep inside, so that she doesn't have to feel it. She tries to act tough, and is a great actress, good at disguising her feelings.
Ability: She can turn invisible, along with anything she touches. It was actually how she survived.
Strengths: Staying strong. She is very good at being strong, and fighting, although she would never admit it. She is also fantastic at ballet.
Weaknesses: Singing. She cannot sing at all. She also will crack at any mention of her family, or the trauma that happened to her.
Talents: Dancing. She's amazing at that. She's also a pretty good fighter, not that she'll ever fight, if she can help it. She's really good at helping others, too, and disappearing into the crowd.
Background: Ellowyn was born into a family of nine, with five older siblings and one younger. Even before the war, they were a different family, so close together you couldn't ever separate them. The war started when she was 13, and her older brother, Eli, joined the army, and was killed. He younger sister, Khara and her parents all died in the collapse of a building, and that was the final straw for the remaining members of the family. She and her older siblings became superheroes, taking action when no one else was willing to, and defeated the government, and there was peace. She and her older siblings were celebrated as heroes… until the aliens came, when Ellowyn was 15. The five of them tried to fight them, but they were overwhelmed. Her older siblings died trying to keep them from attacking, and her oldest sister Kairos locked her in a warehouse, so that she would be safe, after Ellowyn had been seriously injured.
And she was safe.
But all her siblings were dead. And she had to watch them be killed, one by one.
Other: She always has one thing from each of her family members on her, like a piece of jewelry, or a jacket or book, and she always rubs her tattoo when she's feeling nervous or scared or depressed.

@Moriarty

Name: Ariel Aleksander
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Alias: Hazard
Appearance:

  • Hair: Thick, untamed, platinum blond curls. His hair is fluffy, styled in a sort of subtle undercut. It's usually very messy, but in an endearing way.
  • Face: Wide-set, grey-blue eyes. Long eyelashes, but they're blond, so they're harder to notice. Prominent, but not large nose. He has thin lips, but a wide smile— and he smiles quite a lot. He has large, white teeth— and there's a slight gap between his two front teeth, though it's hardly noticeable, and he thinks it makes him more endearing. Usually clean shaven, and even when he's not, his hair is so fair that it's hard to notice right off the bat.
  • Body: He is of an average build, with average-width shoulders and hips that are only a tad bit narrower. He stands at about 6'2", with long legs. He's lanky, but lean, with fair, ivory skin.
  • Clothes: He likes to wear whatever he's in the mood for— which is usually a pair of loosely comfortable cargo pants and a fitted t-shirt (for men, of course), often with a band logo or something on it. He likes to wear hoodie jackets, too. Most of the time, he wears glasses— but he breaks them often so he has to have a lot of spare pairs available. He wears bandages around his hands (leaving only his fingers bare) and forearms— which sort of looks like a stylistic choice. While he does like the aesthetic, it's mostly to hide scars on his hands and arms. If he wears shoes with laces, they're always untied; he usually wears comfy combat boots instead.
  • Distinguishing Features: Ugly burn scars on his hands, arms, and fingers.

Personality: Ariel generally comes across as very open and approachable. He's a sweetheart, highly attuned to the emotions of others, but he can be a bit scattered and chaotic at times. He can appear happy-go-lucky, but he's way more serious than he lets on like, and he's got some sadness buried up inside. More than anything, he wants to be a hero— to fix everything that's screwed up and get the world back to normal once and for all. His self-esteem fluctuates a lot, and he usually doubts that he has what it takes to make a difference. He's pretty moralistic and doesn't believe in killing other humans, though he doesn't share the same sentiments for extraterrestrials.
Ability: He can transfer energy into objects in order to make them combust (i.e., similar to Marvel's Gambit). He can do it to people as well, but he doesn't want to kill if he can help it.
Strengths: Determination; calm in a crisis; loyalty; high pain tolerance; skilled in hand-to-hand combat; great with throwing knives especially; decent with a hand-gun, but not a pro when it comes to anything farther than throwing distance. He is heckin' good with a bo staff.
Weaknesses: Reckless; bad at planning; overzealous; clingy at times; fluctuating self-esteem; more tenderhearted than he appears;
Talents: He can actually draw pretty good, though he feels like that's pretty pointless.
Background: Ariel was the middle child of three siblings. His father was away at war, and his mother had many anxieties and depression, so Ariel's older brother— Lyon— essentially took care of Ariel and Leo, until Lyon also joined the war. Both Ariel's father and brother were killed, leaving Ariel as the man of the house. Ariel looked up to the five heroes during the whole ordeal, idolized them even, and after they were killed (save one of course), he got incredibly discouraged. Someone needed to do something, and he wanted to be the one to do it. After all, he had powers. Why not try? He was 18 at the time, and attempted to start practicing with his abilities (which he had little to no control over), but he ended up blowing something up and starting a fire— which left him and his smaller brother, Leo, with severe burns. Even though no one died, it took Ariel over two years before he would dare even try to experiment with his abilities again— and even then he would only do so when no one was around. His mother died when he was 21, presumably from heartbreak, as she never fully recovered from the loss of her husband and eldest son. Leo is Ariel's only surviving family member, and although far more timid and introverted than Ariel, Leo supports Ariel's heroic aspirations 100% and believes in him. Ariel has more determination than ever to change the world, and he is willing to fight to the death to see it fixed— though, he knows he can't do it alone.
Other: This is wonk but I was tryna hurry. The backstory is a bit wack and I didn't get to explain it how I'd like but it's fine. I'm high-key excited for this though. Lemme know if I should change it; won't hurt my feelings! :)

@PrettyLittlePyro

So, a brief thing about the aliens before we start. They're called Racers, because they have a great grip on technology, and are more advanced than humans. There are three types, the normal ones, the Finders, who can read the surface thoughts of any creature, and Generals, who are faster, stronger, and more intelligent than all the other.

@PrettyLittlePyro

The market was loud, and full of bustling shoppers and pickpockets. If it weren't for all of the technology around, it would seem like one of those old fashioned markets from stories, hundreds of years ago. There wasn't much space in the streets for people to walk, as there were people all over the place, shouting and yelling, adding to the general din of the place.

One figure walked through the crowd, head bowed, hands in pockets. They slid aside, to avoid a person trying to carry a heavy, large box, and slid into a nearby stall, which, at one point, would have been called a restaurant. They sat down on a folding table outside, and stared out at the people passing by.

Ellowyn watched a pickpocket pretending to be drunk stumble into someone, steal something, and slip away without the other person noticing. She gave the tiniest of smiles, a rare sight indeed, for her. Her eyes were cold and hard, and she seemed like someone who would be avoided at all costs. Nobody recognized the former hero, Phantom, anymore. It had been years, and she looked very different.

@Moriarty

(How should I start into this? And…. epic!! Also, is this the first RP we've actually done where we intend to ship our charries?)

@Moriarty

(This is mega wonk and I'm so sorry about that)

Somewhere amongst the crowd wandered Ariel, hoping to catch some miscreant breaking the law and spring on the chance to stop them. It wasn't nearly as impressive as saving the world from evil aliens, but, hey, it was something. Unfortunately, with this kind of crowd, he was too busy trying to keep from tripping over someone's shoe and face-planting into the ground to actually accomplish anything heroic.
He ducked into a nearby stall, avoiding the crowds that threatened to plow over him and stomp him into the dust. The world was so bleak, so bleary— and it sucked, to say the least. It needed to change. Someone needed to change it. Ariel needed to change it. But how the heck was he supposed to do that when he was too busy hiding in a stall? He glanced once at his surroundings, but nothing of interest caught his eye. Wait, actually—
He did a double-take, and his gaze landed on one figure— a woman. Maybe most people didn't recognize her, but it was impossible for Ariel to mistake her. For years, he'd been a fan of her and her siblings— the international heroes, the saviors of the world. How could he not recognize her? His heart nearly stopped, skipped a couple beats from pure excitement. It wasn't really her, was it? It couldn't have been. It was his mind, playing tricks on him. There was no way she could possibly be here.
He swallowed and blinked a few times. It was her. Definitely, absolutely, most certainly her.
He dared to approach her, but his legs seemed like jelly. If this was really her, he was in the presence of a hero. A legend. A— a— oh, geez. There wasn't even a word.
He needed a good introduction. A clever greeting. Something worthy of such an impressive person.
But the only words that made it past his slightly-chapped lips were, "Are you–?"

@PrettyLittlePyro

(It's fine!)

Ellowyn knew what he was the moment he stepped toward her. They were rare to find these days, those former fans and hero-worshippers, which she was glad of. She had been trying so hard to avoid them for so many years that now, when she finally met one again, she was unprepared for a moment. This couldn't be happening, right? But with her luck, it was.

She composed herself. "I'm sorry, I've never met you before." Her voice was calm and cool, and smooth, as if it was the surface of a rock, worn away by water. She sounded tired. "You must mistake me for someone else.

She couldn't be recognized. Couldn't be remembered. They would bring up old memories, memories she wished she could hide, could destroy, never remember again.

@Moriarty

"No, no," Ariel struggled to clarify. "We haven't met. You wouldn't know me. But I know you. I'd know you anywhere! You're– you're a hero." He couldn't believe he was saying those words out loud. It didn't seem possible. Was it possible? Or was this really some kind of illusion only in his head? "Ellowyn." (Assuming their names were publicized o.O) "You're– Ellowyn." He sucked in a breath, for a moment wondering if he might just pass out. This seemed like a dream come true. Meeting one of the most influential people in the history of forever? One of the biggest world-changers of all time? What was he supposed to say to a person like that? I'm your biggest fan seemed cheap and underwhelming at best.

@PrettyLittlePyro

(Yeah, they were.)

Ellowyn chuckled bitterly. "I don't know what you're talking about," she said, in a sardonic voice. "I'm no hero."

And she wasn't. She hadn't been in the "hero" business for over 6 years. She hated the thought of it, hated the idea of saving people, of helping them. She and her siblings had been loved, been adored, but when they were in the most trouble, and when they really needed help, no one had come to save them. No one. And now her family was gone.

@Moriarty

Ariel must not've been willing to take no for an answer, because he shook his head. "No— I mean, yes, I'd know you anywhere! I love you guys. Well, not in a weird way— but I'm your biggest fan." Shoot. Didn't he agree he wouldn't say that bit? It was an overused line, and it made him sound like an obsessive fanboy. But the excitement of the moment was starting to sink in, and that made him less worried about his poor first impression and more focused on the fact that he was speaking to a legend. "I can't believe this! I can't believe I'm actually speaking to Phantom. The Phantom! I thought you were dead or something. I've literally dreamed of this—" Okay, maybe he needed to calm down a little. He cleared his throat, but he couldn't keep from shifting his weight back and forth between each foot from sheer excitement. "You're— you're like a legend. You and your family— you guys inspired me." He tried to think of all the things he'd said to the heroes in his imaginary meetings with them, but his mind drew a blank.

@PrettyLittlePyro

This guy-

Ellowyn watched him, the faintest trace of amusement in her eyes. She hadn't found anything to laugh at for a long, long time, but this guy in front of her, looking only a few years older than herself, acting as if he was a child, and actually excited to see her… it was amusing. She hadn't smiled in a while, but this guy almost made her want to.

"We are - were - just normal people," she said, her normally annoyed tone almost gentle. "There's no need to worship the dead."
