So, then, maybe when Doc is bringing Rei into the home? Or something.

Deleted user

Okay! Maybe Rei discovers Mag and gets in trouble or something? If we're going with her having been already in the home for some time.

Ahhh, I don't know! I haven't done much roleplaying in a while haha, so forgive me if I'm mentally flaky.

Deleted user

Thanks. So, let's go with the most recent idea as I have literally no mental energy right now to overthink this.

Okay, so I'll bring up a starting then? Unless you have any questions?

Doctor Brie Hillbrund was an accomplished woman, herpetologist, and roboticist. She had faced many challenges in her career, but never more than this. She was raising a child.

She'd already told the girl to stay out of trouble, but what sort of trouble that was was probably a bit too vague, so now she was wandering around the house trying to find her newest addition to the household.

Really, she should have just stuck with her snakes, and Mag. Prosthetic tails and scales were one thing, a robot was one thing, but a human child? Completely different. And she had no experience! Snakes were hard enough, and a learning robot was a massive challenge, but this child? Impossible. Really, locking her in a room and only taking her out for publicity stunts would probably be enough, but she didn't know. Maybe she should have gotten a cat.

Meanwhile, Mag was sitting with a sheet over their head, bored out of their mind. They were supposed to stand there and "think about what they'd done", but they couldn't even think it was so boring. They were in the herpetology room, where the snakes were kept, and they were tempted to go out and play with one of them.

Rei really tried to do what she was told. She really did. Her adoptive "mother" hadn't told her to stay put, so she decided to give herself a quiet tour of the house. No noise, no complaining. She'd be a good girl. She didn't want to go back to having no family.
But Miss Hillbrund never smiled at her. She didn't even speak to her more than a few sentences. Half of the time she seemed busy, asking her not to bother her, or a simple "not now," and a wave of her hand.
The young girl found herself at one of the doors she had yet to go into yet. It wasn't the lab door, so it probably didn't have anything dangerous in there, right…? Rei pulled at the seemingly polished door knob, only to see several tanks along the walls. She blinked, stepping slowly inside before shutting the door behind her.
The girl moved to look inside one of the cages before the creature inside slithered into view. It's beady eyes locked onto her, not seeming to do more than that. It was enough to scare Rei as she jumped, turning around to run, only to bump into something. It hurt her head running into it, a sheet having fallen on her and whatever it was. Oh, she hoped she didn't break something important. Not that breaking anything would have turned out any better. Rei managed to move the sheet off her head only to be met with a metal face staring back at her. Not knowing what to do, she stared at it, completely in awe.

Mag powered on when their sensors detected a life-form, and they did so now. "Hello. Are you a friend? Mother said she'd make me a friend. You seem awfully realistic, are you one of those cyborgs she was talking about?" they asked, tilting their head as gears clicked and whirred about at high speeds, leaving nothing but a high buzzing sound. This was new. They could detect no metal parts, nor anything specific that could lead them to believe she was human. "I can't tell what you are beyond human. You're a funny little machine." they smiled as best they could, their metal jaw creaking with the strain.

Rei was a bit startled as it talked to her, but her smile grew, completely forgetting about the scary snake. She laughed some at the robot's final statement. "I'm not a machine. I look human because I am human. Silly," she replied, giggling again. "But we can still be friends! If… you want to. Or if we're allowed to be," the girl offered, sounding a little crestfallen when she considered the way Miss Hillbrund was. If this was her robot, then she might not want her to touch it. Then again… her guardian hadn't mentioned anything like this. If they were important not to touch, then the woman would have surely said something right?
Hearing the protest of the metal, Rei tilted her head some. "Is your mouth okay? It sounds like it's stuck a bit."
