London reached a hand to his face instinctually. When he realized it, he put it back down my side and cleared his throat. "Oh! Yes, Sorry. I seem to be in my head too much. I'd rather talk about it somewhere more private. Just in case anyone gets any ideas and blabs about my inability to have an actual spouse. If you don't mind, you can come to my place when your shift is over only if you're comfortable! Of course, we can always go to yours if that makes it easier for you. I'm kind of flexible myself; I doubt Luna would mind either. All I have to do is put on the TV, and she gets wrapped up in that spy show. She even has a poster up in her room."
Dean laughed warmly, waving London off. "Oh it's no trouble, I know exactly which one. With the spy, assassin, and telepath? I've actually watched a few episodes myself, it's actually quite good. But I digress. If your place is more convenient for you then that's where we shall go. I'm not picky, I just want you to be able to have access to any information you might need to tell me."
"Great! I'll be back tomorrow to pick you up after your shift. Of course, if you work tomorrow." London saw Luna running out of the changing room with her arms up. He caught her mid-run and scooped her up into his arms. "I'll be on leave now; I hope you have a great day and thank you again for helping us out."
Luna giggled and waved excitedly. "Bye, nice man! Thank you!"
London chuckled. "I'll see you tomorrow then?" He picked up the bags of dresses and hooked them on his arms.
Dean smiled warmly and nodded. "I'll be here tomorrow. I get off at three." He informed with a hum. He couldn't say he wasn't excited about being included in this little adventure although he was unsure if he was going to be able to keep his actual job under wraps. He hoped so. He'd been doing it for years, what would make this any different?
"Perfect. I'll pick you up tomorrow then. Have a nice day. Come on, Luna…" He carried her out of the store and started on his way home. He felt like he could really relax and rest easy. Maybe this mission wouldn't be all bad. Even though he was a spy, it didn't stop him from dating. He just always got the bad partners, like the toxic ones or others who would attempt to manipulate him. Dean was relatively attractive and had the sweetest personality. Maybe if he got to know him better they could become more than just a fake couple. "Oh, Luna, what would I do without you?" Luna shrugged and giggled. "If it helps, he thought you were attractive." She pointed out. "Sometimes I forget you can read minds…"
Dean waved goodbye as they left, returning to his work. He was curious about what he'd just blindly walked into but he supposed he'd find out tomorrow. All of this simply because he had seen someone attractive. Since when did he let his heart make decisions like that? He couldn't afford those kinds of rash decisions, those kinds of things got assassins revealed and killed. He had to be more careful.
The next day London had shown up at the end of Dean's shift, with Luna on his side. He walked into the store and waved to the other working people. He set Luna down so she could sit and wait while he leaned again, the same spot he was leaning against yesterday. He was subconsciously looking around for Dean. He was nervous that maybe he had forgotten or he had changed his mind. He feared just how quickly this could go south. Instead of stressing, he looked over to Luna and got distracted, wondering what she was doing with the puzzle. He wondered where she even found it if he were being honest.
"Looking for me?" Dean piped up with a hint of amusement as he just about appeared in front of London and Luna. "Sorry to keep you waiting, I needed to change out of my uniform." He did indeed change, switching his usual uniform shirt for a navy blue button down and black jacket. He smiled at London. "Right, off we go I suppose?"
London smirked and pushed himself off the counter. "Ah, I seemed a bit anxious, didn't I? No worries, you can take all the time you need. Come on, Luna, let's go home now." He walked over to Luna and picked her up. "My apartment building isn't too far from here. I usually walk everywhere rather than drive anyhow. He held open the door for Dean and then exited the building himself. London led the way back but walked next to Dean instead of in front. "So, Dean, how's work been treating you?" He was only trying to make small talk, even though his apartment was not too far. It was still far.
(OKAY I KNOW IT'S BEEN A WEEK I'M SORRY I'VE BEEN DEALING WITH IMMENSE AMOUNTS OF WRITER'S BLOCK)
Dean simply shrugged with a half smile. "It's a job in retail so it's been going as well as you think it would. Although i did have some crazy customer this morning. Wanted to use a coupon that wasn't from our store. I don't even think our store gives out coupons so I have no idea who she thought she was gonna fool with that but it most certainly wasn't me."
(Nah, ur good lol have tons of writer block as well I've also been putting people off for like a week recently so no worries!)
"Of course, I bet nothing can get passed you. That does sound troubling. I could never have the patient you have. I work as a Nero surgeon so I'm busy sometimes, but cases involving the brain aren't that common around these parts. Even since Luna, I've taken a leave for a little bit until I can get everything sorted. So while she's at school, I can start work again." He explained. He pointed to the apartment building on the next block. "That's where I live; we'll be there shortly." He hoisted Luna onto his shoulders so she would stop skipping and running in circles on the sidewalks.
(Dramatic "I've just come back from the dead" gasp I LIIIIIVE! It only took me over a month, sorry about that 😅)
"A neurosurgeon? Really? That can't be easy, I could never. I don't have the steadiness for it, my hands shake too much." That wasn't a complete lie, Dean's hands had an ever present twitch to them from his job causing him to constantly be on edge. Constant stress in something dealing with his hands made him twitchy. "But I'm glad Luna gets to have her dad home with her while she gets settled in. I can't imagine what it would be like if it was just her by herself in a new place." Not very good, I know from experience.
(Nah es all good I've been busy too; I was just at band camp)
"Yeah, it takes a lot of precision. Although my hands are steady, they're good for many other things too." London grinned and opened the apartment door. "Feel free to look around while I set Luna down for some tv. Would you like tea or a hot coffee before we start?" Just like he said, he would set Luna down and turn on her favorite channel. "Now you be on your best behavior, missy, okay? I need this to go well." He stood up and made his way to the kitchen. "Feel free to sit on the chair right there."
(Guess who's alive? Me! Guess who's aware that disappearing for a month makes her the actual worst? Also me!)
Dean sat where London gestured, simply watching with a pleasant smile. "Tea is fine, I'm not one for caffeine." An assassin with caffeine jitters is the last thing anyone wants. His eyes bounced around the room, taking in the different aspects of it. Cute little place, very unassuming. How quaint. "Lovely place you've made for yourself, however did you find it?"
(OH, SHUSH!!! You are not the worst! Everyone has shit they need to deal with, so like I don't mind, trust me :)
London smiled. "Make yourself at home." He started on the tea with delicate hands and a half-genuine smile. He leaned against the counter and watched the tea as well as Anya. "I guess it's time to tell you more about the school situation. I already made the forged documents, so proving it with papers should be easy. On the other hand…how good is your acting?" While talking, he made sure to sound friendly and not creepy. He didn't think many people would take him u pon this offer because it sounded extremely creepy.
