“Walk faster,” Willow said with a cheeky grin. She knew he could easily pass her, but she liked to poke fun.
“Walk faster,” Willow said with a cheeky grin. She knew he could easily pass her, but she liked to poke fun.
Sterling snorted and sped up his pace. He quickly walked past her, then turned around so that he was walking backwards. “That good enough for you?”
“You’re going to run into people if you keep on walking like that,” Willow pointed out, quirking an eyebrow. What a dork. But a cute dork.
“Then you should probably let me know before I do, huh?” Sterling teased with a wink and that infamous smirk of his.
Willow rolled her eyes, a light blush appearing on her cheeks. “You’re insufferable,” she said playfully, crossing her arms.
(*insufferable)
Sterling laughed and reached over to flick her nose quickly. “Maybe. But you like it.”
(Sorry)
Willow’s nose wrinkled after he flicked it, the blush on her cheeks coming back full force. “That may be true,” she said, looking away from him for a few seconds before looking back, a smile on her face.
(Lol. It’s fine. My sister makes mistakes like that all the time, and I mostly ignore it. But I just like to make sure people know what the correct word is…)
Sterling’s grin grew at the sight of her blush. It was really cute on her…
“Oh, I think it definitely is. And that blush is adorable on your cheeks,” he added softly.
“Stop, you’re going to make me blush even more,” Willow complained lightly, a smile on her face.
“Good. That’s my job, isn’t it?” Sterling teased with another wink as he chucked softly.
Willow covered her face with her hands as the blush deepened. What was Sterling doing to her… “…Yes” her answer was sightly muffled.
Sterling chuckled and glanced behind himself. “So, anyway, where’s your locker again?”
"Ah, right here," she said, stopping at her locker. Willow quickly put in her code into the combination lock and it swung open. Putting in the books she didn't need, she grabbed her history book and binder and stuffed her book bag in the locker. She closed and leaned against it, waiting for Sterling.
(Do you want to skip?)
(Sure. I could have Willow being confronted by some mean girls in the bathroom, and she gets real quiet around Sterling?)
(If you want, sure!)
(Okay! This is during lunch, btw)
Willow had excused herself from the table to go to the bathroom, something she needed to do since 3rd period. She pushed open the door to find Jessica and Sophia, the two snakes of the grade. Oh great. Here we go… Trying to go around them, she was stopped by a perfectly manicured hand.
“So, Willow. It’s Willow, isn’t it?” She nodded mutely. It was better to let her speak then to interrupt.
“Word is that you’ve been hanging around with Sterling, is that true?” Sophia said, leaning against the sink. I wish the water would turn on and spray her.
As for the question, she chose not to answer. Giving information to a snake was the last thing you wanted to do. “I just want to go to the bathroom.” Willow said softly, not looking up.
Sterling entered the cafeteria and looked around for Willow. He had wanted to sit with her and talk to her, but she wasn’t in the room. Wherever she had gone, he hoped she came back soon…
“Sorry sweetie, but we’re not going anywhere until you get in your tiny head that Sterling is ours,” Jessica snapped, her words growing more enforced as she talked. Willow backed away, her back hitting the wall.
“Please go away…” she said quietly. Sophia laughed.
“Not a chance, until you tell Sterling that you can’t see him anymore.” Well, that’s a little impossible to do, since I’m living in his house. Willow said nothing, again, and it seemed like it angered Jessica. She pushed Willow, who stumbled back. With one last glance at the two girls, she walked back out of the bathroom and into the cafeteria with a lost look on her face.
Sterling glanced around the cafeteria once more, probably the fifth time he’d done so in the last few minutes. One of his friends sighed and elbowed him.
“What’s up, man? You look lost,” a guy with shaggy blond hair and bright blue eyes asked curiously.
“I’m looking for someone. That girl I was with the other day, Willow. I thought she was in this lunch hour, too,” Sterling answered, turning his attention back to his plate.
The blond nodded slowly, reading the look in his friend’s eyes. He looked around the room and spotted a familiar face. “Does she have light brown hair and blue eyes?”
“Yeah, why?”
“Because she’s just walking in, then.”
Sterling’s head shot back up at his friend’s words, and he grinned as he saw Willow. He gestured her over, nudging his friend down a seat to make room for her.
Willow's eyes caught Sterling's gesture, and the uneasiness in her stomach tightened. She knew Sophia and Jessica were watching, the two pairs of eyes burning into her back were a reminder of that. Slowly but surely, she made her way to Sterling, hands twisting together nervously. Sliding into the seat beside him, she looked down at her shoes, counting every scuff.
Sterling frowned at her obvious discomfort and gently wrapped an arm around her waist. He leaned over to press a gentle kiss to her cheek, hovering there for a moment to murmur, “Are you all right?”
Willow jumped as Sterling put an arm around her, the place where he touched tingling slightly. What am I going to say?! “I-, um, yes,” she stuttered, leaning away from Sterling a little. God, she hated to do this to him, but she didn’t know what Jessica and Sophia would do to her if she didn’t.
Sterling pulled his arm away at her reaction, thoroughly confused by it. Did she not like what he did? Maybe she regretted the kiss they’d shared the day before. Gosh, he hoped not…
“Are you sure?” he asked softly, worried but not wanting to pry.
“Um-“ Willow glanced back at Jessica,
who motioned at her to get a move on. “Ye-Yeah, I’m sure.” She wasn’t looking at him, knowing if she did, she would spill the entire thing.
