"What teas do you like?" August asked, "I have English breakfast, Chamomile, Green, and black tea,"
"What teas do you like?" August asked, "I have English breakfast, Chamomile, Green, and black tea,"
"Chamomile, please." She had never had the others, but she had tried chamomile before.
He nodded, and left to find the tea bags.
Coraline put her hands in front of the fire, since August had left.
He came back shortly with to, "Pardon me," he spoke as he knelt, and dunked them into the kettle.
Coraline moved out of the way.
"How can I repay you?"
"Well, nothing, preferably." August replied.
Coraline smiled.
"Thank you, sir. You are very generous."
"I'm just trying to fix what I can," he replied, making eye contact. "My fellow soldiers don't respect their fellow citizens like they should. Colonists deserve the same respect as the mother country citizens,"
Coraline started.
"You're a soldier?" A soldier, just the day before, had tried to… do something to her, thinking she was of the… lower profession for women.
Not too far away, Annalise quickly dispensed the items and told her friends about the strange encounter.
"I am." August replied.
Coraline relaxed. This was by no means the same soldier.
"I am glad to here some soldiers are kind."
He half laughed, "I apologize on behalf of my dumber peers.."
"Oh, it is perfectly fine."
"Tell me about yourself," August invited.
"Well… I come from a poorer family, so we don't have much. Still, we are very active in the community. I… tend to blurt things out that are less than acceptable. I just don't think things through."
Again, he laughed, looking at the fire. "You sound like my brother,"
"I see. Perhaps being strong-willed isn't so rare after all."
"Mm, well," August began, "He relates more to the running-your-mouth part,"
"I see. Well, God has a plan, and I am sure He has a purpose for all of this."
August leaned back, rubbing his hands together. "I've never been very religious."
"I see. Well, it is hard to be when your job breaks the Commandments. It is alright, I don't hold it against you." Coraline smiled.
Augustus's smile felt faked now, he decided to opt for silence.
Coraline realized what you said.
"I am sorry, my good sir. I can't believe I said that out loud." She mumbled the last part.
