Loki bit the inside of his cheek and slowly removed their hand from the counter, tucking it in the pocket of their leather jacket. Imp didn't say anything, instead closed their eyes.

Assuming that was settled, Damien turned back to making their Mac n' cheese. After straining it and mixing in the butter, milk, and cheese, he dished it out and set the bowls on his small kitchen table. "Food's ready, do you want a drink?"
Loki sat at the table, scowling down at the mac n’ cheese. “Water is fine, thank you,” they said in a mildly irritated tone.
Wordlessly, Damien grabbed a couple glasses and got water for the both of them, bringing it over and sitting down at the table. "After we finish eating, I'll help you clean up and bandage you up, okay?" Kitten, he almost added.
They rolled their eyes and picked up their fork. “Yes, yes, whatever.” They tentatively stabbed a noodle and brought it up to their eyes, squinting at it.
Damien couldn't help chuckling softly, even though he knew that the other would hate it. "I promise you it's good," he assured, taking a big forkful himself.
They pursed their lips for a moment, then ate the noodle, wrinkling their nose. “It’s weird.”
At this, Damien really laughed, warm brown eyes crinkling. "Yeah, it's probably different than what you're used to, plus it's not the most flavorful."
They ate another noodle, thinking for a moment, then ate an actual bite. “It feels weird in my mouth.”
"Let me guess, kinda slimy, right?" Damien smiled. "But not too terrible, I hope."
Loki narrowed their eyes, and pushed the pasta around in their bowl. “I don’t know. It’s weird,” they repeated.
Damien shrugged, getting up to get himself more. “I can make chicken strips, if you’d rather. I’m pretty hungry anyway.”
“Yes, please.” Chicken sounded much more appealing than this mac n’ cheese, and Loki pushed their bowl away from themself.
"Alrighty. It won't take long, maybe twenty minutes." Damien grabbed the chicken from the freezer and got it ready and in the oven, then grabbed his bowl of mac 'n cheese and continued to eat. "So, why did you turn into a cat when you fell on my car?"
"I. . . lost control of my abilities. My magic does whatever it decides is safest when that happens, and because cats always land on their feet. . ." Loki watched Damien, confused. "What is that box? What does. . . What is it for?" They gestured at the freezer.
"I suppose that makes sense," Damien nodded. "Oh, it's called a freezer, it keeps things as cold as ice so that they last longer."
Loki wrinkled imp’s nose and stood up, opening the freezer with curiosity. “It’s very cold.”
Damien chuckled, "Yeah, it comes in really handy since there are cheap foods that you can keep in there for a while. Also ice cream, you definitely need a freezer for that."
Loki mouthed the words ‘ice cream’ silently, trying to figure out what that was. They stuck their face in the freezer, peering around.
Leaning against the counter, Damien watched Loki with a smile. "While the chicken's cooking, could I look over your injuries? It would be better to treat them sooner rather than later."
(Sorry for ghosting!! it's been a busy couple of days for me >.<' )
(dw about it, i totally understand /gen)
“If you wipe that smirk off your face, you’re welcome to.” Loki glared at him, narrowing their eyes.
Damien, in turn, rolled his eyes. "This is a smile, Loki. I'm smiling at you," he replied. "I'm going to get my first aid supplies, do you want to do it here, or in the bathroom? It might be easier to clean up in there, but we can stay out here if you prefer."
“No, you were laughing at me,” Loki said sharply. “And it isn’t amusing. Whatever. The bathroom is fine. I don’t care.” Loki’s features scrunched in a frown.
The smile faded from Damien's face, becoming carefully blank. "Right, sorry," he said, moving to leave the kitchen. "Come with me, then. I'll grab the kit from the closet on the way."
