"No, I don't. This little thing is interrupting the daily grind of things." Quill told her, smiling. "In a good way. The daily grind of things in my house can get boring."
"No, I don't. This little thing is interrupting the daily grind of things." Quill told her, smiling. "In a good way. The daily grind of things in my house can get boring."
Tangerine nodded. After waiting for so long, she knew exactly what she wanted and she had rehearsed it a ridiculous amount of times in her head. "So… do you know what you're going to eat?… I'm starving."
Quill nodded. "I think just pizza. I live off of pizza."
"I am having the…" Tangerine paused for a bit and looked at her menu again. "Oh, where is it." She mumbled to herself. After a minute of looking for what she was going to order she found it. "I practiced it in my head… but I forgot…" She smiled at Quill. Jeez, I'm such a mess.
(Bleep)
(Boop)
((I'm so sorry I had school and other tingz lemme write smth))
"It's okay," Quill said, returning the smile. "I get it." He himself didn't have almost any anxiety, but he understood how others did.
((It's okay, I totally understand :))
Tangerine nodded. "Thanks…" She looked a bit more at the menu before she closed it again. "I think… I'm actually going to have the… fish and chips. It's easy enough to remember…"
Quill nodded, looking up as the waiter came. He ordered quickly, then folding up his menu and handing it to him.
Tangerine stammered through her order and gave her menu to the waiter. She let out a breath after he left.
"So you have anxiety?" Quill asked, wanting to make sure.
"I-I… yeah…" Tangerine said quietly while looking down at the table again. She traced the lines in the wood with her pointer finger.
"It's okay. I just didn't want to, you know…" Quill paused, searching in mind his mind junkyard for the word. "Assume. I don't have it, but it's okay."
Tangerine closed her eyes and nodded, opening them a few seconds later. "S-so…" She sighed unable to think of something else to say. She shook her head at herself.
"Um…what's your job?" Quill offered, looking up at her with bright brown eyes.
"I um, work at the flower down the street… er, what about you? Tangerine said while looking back up at Quill.
"Cool!" Quill smiled. "I work at an automotive garage, but I usually just bring all the cars back to my house and work on them there."
Tangerine smiled back. "Well, I'll be sure to call you if I need my car worked one. That's definitely a good skill to have." She slowly pulled out her phone. "Um, speaking of… of calling… can I have your number?"
"Of course!" Quill agreed with a grin, taking out his phone and giving her the number. "828-989-8254."
Tangerine smiled while putting in the number. "So… mine is 346-293-6778" Tangerine was actually glad her other date didn't show, she was enjoying it a lot more with Quill than she expected she would have had with her other date.
"Cool," Quill said, entering her number in his own phone. He wasn't normally a people person - his coworkers often told him he had two personalities - one where he was quietly obsessed with something, and another when he was loudly obsessed with something, neither of them people.
A couple minutes later, the waiter came with their food. Tangerine mustered a smile as the waiter left. She started eating immediately. After waiting so long, she was very hungry. She let out a breath after taking the first bite.
Quill smiled, starting to eat his own food. Now, food he did like. Food and machines.
