"Okay." She said softly, nodding. "We have a slight role reversal." She tried to joke, falling flat.

He hummed lightly, falling quiet for a moment. After a beat, he said, "I wonder who else went to this party."
"I don't know." She admitted. "How would we? We have no other friends to talk to."
He smirked wryly. "That's true. I guess we'll have to assume whoever else went is also messed up."
"Well, our neighbors woulda went, right? So we'd have to keep an eye on them." She said, shrugging. "Right?"
"That's a good hypothesis," he agreed with a nod. "Do you have any idea where the party was?"
"Ya know that house that's been empty for as long as we can remember? That one." She said.
"Oh, the one on the end of the street between yours and mine," he said. "The creepy one I hate walking through."
"Yep!" She said, leaning back more.
"Should we go there tomorrow?" he asked. "Look around?"
"Yeah, maybe pretend we're good neighbors and say hi. I'll bring them grocery store cookie." She said, laughing.
August snorted. "Yeah, the two most awkward teenagers in the town coming over just to say hi. No matter how crazy they are, we'll just look crazier."
"Very good point, Sherlock." She said, slipping into a shitty British accent.
"Wot the bloody hell was that," he laughed in an even shittier British accent.
She laughed, leaning forward.
August plugged in his phone. Eighteen new notifications? He didn't have friends and he didn't recognize the numbers. He scrolled through them.
come to the party.
come to the party.
All of them said the same thing.
"Come to the party?" he repeated.
Frankie looked over his shoulder. "Freaky."
"Do you think it's some sort of…elaborate prank? On people who didn't go?" he wondered.
"Bit weird to pull a prank on your whole neighborhood when you just moved, no?" She asked, furrowing her brow.
He tilted his head to the side. "Mmm, maybe it was a prank by the party-goers. To include the new people in a prank."
She shrugged. "Maybe? I honestly doubt it."
"I don't know, either," he admitted, brushing his floofy hair out of his face with a frustrated gesture. "I just want to know what the hell is happening."
"I want to know too. This- this is freaky." She said, leaning against him.
(should we time skip to the next day?)
