"Ooh, is this your diary? Where you document how many times you got abducted or saw a ghost?" August grabbed the notebook that fell off the bed.
"Ooh, is this your diary? Where you document how many times you got abducted or saw a ghost?" August grabbed the notebook that fell off the bed.
"H-hey! You're supposed to see that!" She said, reaching fruitlessly for the notebook. "Give it back!"
((It's supposed to be her songbook by the way))
He flipped it open, reading a bit out loud before realizing what it was. Somewhat sheepish, he said innocently, "Oh, is this Nirvana? I never really listened to it…"
"Not… exactly…" She muttered, looking away.
"What is it?" he prompted, although he was pretty sure he knew.
"Nothing!" She said quickly. "Can I have it back, please?"
"Alright," he said, slouching some as he tossed it back. "I just like it."
She blushed, shoving it under her pillow.
He rolled his eyes a little. "Ugh, you're emoting again. I told you not to blush around me."
"Oh, fuck you!" She said, laughing.
"Right back at you," he responded. He chucked his empty ice cream container at her head.
"Ow!" She said, chucking the container back at him.
He deflected it partially with his arm. "I'm getting better at blocking your attacks."
"Screw you and screw your stupidly good reflexes!" She said dramatically.
August started to respond, but a loud clap of thunder interrupted him. The lights flickered and then went out. "Oh, shit."
"That's weird…" She muttered. "Hang on- hand me that flashlight on the desk?- I'll go check the fuse."
He felt around for the flashlight, knocking several things off her desk. "Found it."
She took the flashlight, flicking it on. "I'll be right back." She said, walking down to the basement.
((Yo what if she got abducted?))
(i like the idea but maybe she should get abducted once the party ends? that way the 'new neighbors' could be aliens or something)
"Wait, wait I want to come," August said, hurrying after her. "I fucking hate the dark."
"Fine." She said. "Sure you can handle the basement though? It creeps me out in daylight, and I live here."
He shrugged. "At least there will be two of us."
"…Fair point." She said, trying to pretend like this didn't feel like a Scooby Doo episode.
He kept walking, trailing behind her as he rambled, "It's not the dark that scares me. When the power goes out everything's quite. 21st century living has us accustomed to the hum of electronics, but with the power out, it's unnervingly silent. All I can hear is my breathing and my thoughts and that's it."
She hummed softly, nodding. "Yeah, man, I get it."
"I guess I'm too reliant on technology," he admitted with a wry smile at the flashlight. "A first world tragedy."
