Teigi grinned as he took his phone back. "Thanks!" He tucked his phone back into his pocket, still occasionally glancing into Malachi's eyes. He jotted down a few more notes, before his phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out again, and checked his messages, to see a message from his friend:
Are we still going to that cafe?
Teigi's green eyes widened. He'd completely forgotten about lunch! He shot back a quick on my way and put his phone away again. "I have to go meet up with a friend, now. I'm so sorry that I can't stay and talk, but I'll call you later, if that's alright?" Teigi could feel his face turning red as he motioned for Ren to get up and follow him.
He had wanted to stay and talk…? Malachi's face still felt as warm as ever as he nodded dumbly. Not once had Teigi tried to touch his wings and tail like most humans tried to. Teigi only saw him as another person. Well, another person he just happened to bump into and was now going to write a poem about? Malachi felt the weight of the small cat leave hesitantly. It seemed Ren wanted to stick around longer, enjoying the temporary napping spot known as Malachi's feet. The boy tried to give a soft smile at the feline as it padded over to its owner, but he honestly felt extremely flustered at the moment. He bit the inside of his cheek lightly to keep himself mentally grounded.
"… Bye," he said softly.
"Bye!" Teigi waved as he walked down the street in the direction he'd been going, Ren following close behind. When he turned the corner, he looked down at the cat, shaking his head slowly. "What was that? Normal people don't just walk up to people and ask to write poems about them! Poems, Ren!" The man's face was heating up, but luckily, only Ren was witness to the fact. "The poor guy, I must have weirded him out!" After a few deep breaths, Teigi continued walking, ready to meet his friend at the cafe.
(Timeskip? Maybe to when they meet again?)
(Yeah we could, or we could do the phone call?)
Malachi waved back slowly. As soon as Teigi rounded the corner, the boy seemed to relax immensely. He couldn't help but feel entirely awkward during the whole interaction. A cute stranger stumbling into you and then asking to write a poem about you? That… that just didn't happen. But it did. And it happened to him. And according to Teigi, the written piece was about his eyes. Not his wings, nor the obvious golden horns on his head. It was about something that everyone had but… Teigi had seen something in Malachi.
The half breed felt his face continue to heat, almost feeling feverish by how much he had been blushing. Malachi stared at his phone before putting it away again.
He was looking forward to that phone call.
