(And sorry this is so long 😅)
O'Hara immediately regretted pulling away when she saw the lustful gleam in his eyes and felt his grip on her waist tighten. Fuck, she thought, slightly angry at Jackie, even though the other woman technically did nothing wrong.
She smirked in amusement as Nok chuckled quietly though. Her thought process was incredibly similar to his, as she was still very turned on. They needed to get out and either into his limo or her town car as soon as possible so they could continue their little makeout session and perhaps take it further…
O'Hara was about to reach for the door handle and unlock it, but Nok's pause in movement immediately stilled her. Her breath hitched as his lips ended up directly beside her ear. Dear God. Don't lose it now, she told herself, biting her lip to keep from moaning. "I expect nothing less," she breathed, gasping softly at his teeth nipping her earlobe. Not many could out-seduce Eleanor O’Hara, but the doctor may have finally met her match.
O'Hara turned to gaze at him, her desire clearly visible in her eyes as she studied him. She noted his distinctive motions and the fiery hunger behind his eyes, and she narrowed her gaze slightly. Fucking tease.
She turned back around and forced herself to tone down her pining for the man behind her as she unlocked and opened the door. "Jacks, good. How do you want to do this?"
Jackie frowned, noting Nokhal'rok lounging casually in one of O'Hara's chairs. "Do what? I'm just looking for a quiet place to sit down."
"The money," O'Hara said as if it were obvious. She headed back to her checkbook and sat behind her desk while Jackie headed for the chair that wasn't otherwise occupied. "I can either pay the school directly or would you prefer it if I just send you a check?"
"I don't know. Would that be weird, me just getting a big check?" Jackie asked, casting a hesitant look at Nokhal'rok.
O'Hara scrunched her nose thoughtfully, then selected a pen from a cup by the corner of her desk. "It's not a sweepstakes. It's a normal-size check for an amount that won't make me think twice."
Jackie opened her mouth to say something, but the nurse seemed to think better of it. She closed her mouth and glanced down at her hands, which were fidgeting in her lap. O'Hara glanced up, noted the motion with veiled worry, and went back to writing the check. The pair began to converse easily as if Nokhal'rok wasn't even there. "Have you eaten?" O'Hara asked casually.
The nurse looked up in thought. "Coffee, banana, Vicodin."
O'Hara arched an eyebrow. "Breakfast of champions. Meanwhile, please step away from the gurney transfers and the heavy lifting. You have Thor, he's a giant. Use him." She ripped the check out and flapped it through the air a few times. "And for the love of all that's good and holy, get an MRI."
"I almost don't want to see the damage," Jackie responded tiredly.
O'Hara languidly held the check out to her friend, but when Jackie reached for it, the doctor lifted the paper back with a teasing smile. The smile played across her face for a second longer before she extended it back out and Jackie snatched it from her grasp. "Closer to godmother by the second," O'Hara sang.
"Okay, you know what? We can't exactly rechristen the girls," Jackie replied, looking down at the check before quickly lifting her eyes to O'Hara again and quickly adding, "Not that you would not be great at it."
O'Hara held her hands up with eyes lit up. "I know. I know. But if you and Kevin die in a fiery plane crash-" she dropped her pen back into the cup and nodded with a firm certainty "-they will be mine."
Jackie rolled her eyes. "We don't get away very much."
"So let me pay for a trip!" O'Hara exclaimed, leaning back in her chair and propping her hands up behind her head. The doctor sat back upright in a swift motion and tilted her head to indicate Nok, just remembering he was still in the room. "It turns out Nokhal'rok has just as much of a fashion sense as I do. We're going to head out shopping."
Jackie didn't look too surprised as she tucked the check into the pocket of her scrubs. "Oh good. Someone else to take you to stores where a pile of shirts costs half the year's rent."
O'Hara frowned slightly and cut her eyes at the other woman. "If you don't want to come with me when I ask, then don't say, 'Sure, I'll go,'" she quipped.
"I'm sorry, but I could never wear anything that costs 100 times as much as the tap class Grace and I were kicked out of last week," Jackie replied, standing up. "You two have fun though." She left easily, shutting the door behind her, and O'Hara's overwhelming need for the man on the other side of her desk came rushing back in a single gaze.
